Physicality
OH MAN! I absolutely loved the physicality of the Hornets in their series against the Mavs, as well as their first game against the Spurs. Now, I didn't watch N.O. too often during the season, but, do they always play this physical?! They are basically man handling these teams! Their tempo and their aggressiveness is outstanding, and I cannot say enough about Chris Paul, Wow. I know the refs tend to let a little bit more go in the playoffs, so maybe this physical style wouldn't really be seen during the regular season, but man it is fun to watch and I hope Portland can be this physical next year!

It is time to accept this.
I am glad you can start moving on. The pain fades over time. Be strong.

Yeah
We’re totally getting LeBron anyhow.

i'd rather
chris paul though.
Do you think we could do a trade? That whole ego thing really bugs me.
Here's to being hated. Come on #1 pick!

Maybe
If we’re willing to give up Roy or Oden.

Roy wouldn't be enough
It would have to be Roy+something (e.g. Outlaw) and even then I’m not sure the Hornets do it. Oden might be enough but the Hornets would think twice there also now that he has an injury history.

I don't think Oden would be enough
The team as constructed is shredding its way through the “historically tough WC” right now like a sickle through chaff, and Paul is the heart and soul of that team. What’s the upside for them in making that deal? It would take two of our Big Three, I think.

David West is the guy...
... who has really impressed me. I knew he was good- I knew he was the NBA’s most underrated player until he mate the All Star Game (if you ask me, its now Kevin Martin) but I didn’t really know that much about him. He was just awesome in game 1 against the Spurs.
This Hornet team is well built- they’ve got the all-world PG, a great scorer at the 4, an excellent “goalie” in Chandler and a gunner in Peja. Add some role players that can really score (MoPete, Pargo, and yes, Bonzi) and you’ve got a really complete team.
San Antonio is in for a tough series. Game 1 was not a fluke. This one’s going 6 or 7 games and the Hornets are absolutely capable of winning it all.
Oh yeah, and CP3 to Portland hasn’t been a possibility since the moment we traded out of the #3 spot.

Kevin Martin
...is a player KP has compared Rudy to, I believe. I’m finding that image helpful when I fantasize about the upcoming seasons. Kevin Martin and Nate Thurmond added to last year’s Blazer squad…ahh.
Having said that, I’ll continue to maintain until my typing fingers bleed: that the Blazers need some more physical guys IN ADDITION to Mr. Oden. When you watch the teams doing well in the playoffs, they have big, physical forwards coming off the bench in waves.

Does anyone else think Pargo looks like Devin Harris when you watch him on tv

That is why maybe we should draft Arthur with #13
I have been wavering between PG or PF , Westbrook (with a trade and #13) or Arthur at #13. Look at Lamar Odom with the Lakers- 14pts 10 reb per game. When LMA goes out, who do the Blazers have? Oden can’t be the only physical player on the team.
by blazerbill on May 5, 2008 4:46 PM PDT 0 recs
That's not quite an accurate comparison though
because it’s not like Lamar is coming off the bench to get that 14 and 10—he’s getting it in the starting lineup, just like LMA gets his. And I think that Frye is is a perfectly adequate option at the backup 4. You gotta remember that he was brought in to be a second-unit LaMarcus Lite playing off of Przybilla, and Oden’s injury firebombed that plan; I think that we’ll be very content with Frye’s contributions next year playing in the role we initially had planned for him.
Basically between LMA, Frye, and Trout, I couldn’t justify spending a lottery pick on another PF (and I talk like it’s my decision or something…), but I agree with your premise that we could use another banger on the second unit. I just think we could get somebody much later in the draft and it’s not necessary to use #13 to grab that player. Millsap, Maxiell, Craig Smith of the Timberpuppies, and Carl Landry were all second-round picks that fit exactly the mold I think you’re describing.

Add Bass, Turiaf, Big Baby, etc.
Every contender has a “Maxsap,” and they all were drafted in the second round. The Blazers need a big, strong, quick, banger-off-the-bench badly, but I’m confident that KP can land one without giving up the #13 pick.

I think the name "Maxsap" should be changed to include my new favorite version...
...Carl Landry. Love that guy.
Who is New Orleans’ “Landsap?”
I think Powe has surpassed Big Baby in Boston’s rotation.
