Mock Drafts compilation
Hi:
I just went to 'www.dcprosportsreport.com/NBAMocks.htm' and checked out the 50 updated mock drafts since the lottery took place. Some of you may be interested in my findings. Basically, I was looking for two pieces of information from each mock draft -- 1) which player they have the Blazers taking; and 2) when they think Russell Westbrook will be taken. Here's what I found:
Blazers select:
Joe Alexander -- came up 11 times
Donte Greene -- 8 times
Kevin Love -- 8 times
D.J. Augustin -- 5 times
Darrell Arthur -- 4 times
Chase Budinger -- 4 times
Nicolas Batum -- 3 times
DeAndre Jordan -- 2 times
Russell Westbrook -- 2 times
Anthony Randolph, Danilo Gallinari, and Marreese Speights -- 1 time each
Russell Westbrook was selected as:
the #6 pick (Knicks) -- 2 times
the #7 pick (Clippers) -- 8 times
the #8 pick (Bucks) -- 1 time
the #9 pick (Bobcats) -- 3 times
the #10 pick (Nets) -- 2 times
the #11 pick (Pacers) -- 15 times
the #12 pick (Kings) -- 15 times
the #13 pick (Blazers) -- 2 times
the #14 pick (Warriors) -- 1 time
the #15 pick (Suns) -- 1 time

if westbrook is in the 11-12 range
it would not be that hard to move up and pick him, i am almost certain if he is available KP would do what it takes to get him, which i doubt would be too much
imagine a back court with two big guards who switched positions on defense and offense
would it work?
definitely it would create match up problems

Joe Alexander is slowly growing on me, and I don't know why...
He isn’t a need- in fact, he duplicates what we already have. Yet, something tells me that he is an ultimate scrapper- something that we don’t have.
Go check out his interview on draftexpress.com – he wants model his game after Matt Harpring. I hate that guy on the Jazz, but would love his grit and toughness on the Blazers- and he could be a Matt Harpring with more athleticism.

From what I've read...
Joe Alexander would fit the Blazers’ new culture perfectly, so I would be happy if they could snag him. Love’s talent would be too good to pass up, too. And Westbrook, of course.
Nate doesn’t like small guards or players who don’t defend, so I doubt that Augustin or Budinger will be picked. (Jason Quick also said in his last chat session that he’d be surprised if the Blazers choose a PG, or Budinger.)
Not sure what to make of Greene (questionable work ethic), Arthur (backup PF), or Jordan (unnecessary project C).
Batum is an interesting choice—he might have the potential to blossom a few years down the road.

Encouraged about Joey A
Would prefer Westbrook as a draft pick for his athleticism, aggressiveness, and defensive focus. Those traits will compliment Roy and Rudy quite nicely in the backcourt.
However, Joe A would be a good compliment to Martell’s perimater oriented game. Joe A has a more developed game down low, is aggressive, intense, and looking to throw down every time he takes it to the hoop. I wish Outlaw would patent his game more around what I’ve seen from Joe A.
Maybe already been posted,..this is nbadraft.net’s take on Joe Alexander with a youtube highlight video attached. Highlights are often misleading because of the competition and lack of context, but one thing you can take away from this video is just how aggressive and athletic this guy is on the court. Two traits that the Blazers should be looking to add to the team.

humm...
A white player who is drafted based on upside and athleticism… I’m not, just, my spider senses are tingling that this is a trap. A big bust like Matt Jones (NFL WR) is written all over this…
Side note, who is the most athletic white player in the NBA? David Lee?

Joey A game
interesting they noted how he is rarely in a rush or forcing things. Sounds like Brandon Roy’s style of play. Joey A is definitly worth a look, but I’d like to see the PTB add a stronger defensive minded stopper type/rebounder instead.
If you dont talk to your cats about catnip, who will?

This Draft
I want Kevin Love. If I can’t have him, then I’m cool with Budinger and Alexander. I heard they both can jump over a Franz bread truck. My only problem with Love is that he might get in the way of KP drafting Tyler Hansbrough next year.
