THE 2008/09 PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
PG. BLAKE JACK SERGIO FIRST ROUND PICK?
SG. ROY RUDY
C. ODEN ZILLA LaFRENZ
SF. WEBSTER OUTLAW JONES
PF. ALDRIDGE FRYE
I DON'T THINK JONES, WAFER OR MCBOB WILL BE HERE AT THE START OF THE SEASON.
TOSS IN A COUPLE OF ATHLETIC 2ND ROUNDERS (I LIKE THE THREE RECENTLY GRADUATED OREGON DUCKS. GRANTED THAT THOSE THREE ARE THE EXTENT OF MY SCOUTING.) AND WE GO US A TEAM.
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS GROUP IS THAT, WITH A ONLY A FEW EXCEPTIONS, IS THERE A GUY ON THE TEAM YOU DON'T EXPECT TO IMPROVE? AND THAT'S FROM A SEASON WHERE WE ONE 42 NBA GAMES.
I LIKE TRADES AND TRADE TALK AS MUCH AS THE NEXT GUY BUT MY OPINION IS THAT WE SHOULD HOLD THIS TEAM, THIS CURRENT ROSTER PLUS DRAFT PICKS, AS IS.
OF COURSE IF KP CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING MINOR THAT CAN HELP I'M ALL FOR IT BUT OTHERWISE BACK OFF MY 08/09 TRAILBLAZERS.

in defense
Now I’m horrible with typos because I watch my fingers and not the screen…and i’m hasty to get my though down as fast as possible; but if I’m going to complain about pet peaves when it comes to posters, i’d rather somebody posts in all caps rather than omitting puncuation mark, not capitolizing at all, or just writing really long runs on sentances. Oops, my bad. I’m guilty as charged.

Me Too
I think typos are cute. I like how he said we 1 42 games. I like where he is coming from though.

I really hope that
that won’t be the final roster for the 08/09 season. I would hate to see Jack still on the roster.

Subtract Jack.
Add McBrob.
I think you’ve got it.

Jack not a FA
How do you subtract a player without gaining another one? I don’t think we are going to pull a Phoenix.

I pulled
my Phoenix once, can still feel it sometimes when the weathers changing.

That's funny.
I’ve pulled my monkeybone. And I never thought about the weather while doing it.

Jack + #13 to move up in the draft = subtracting Jack

Subtract Jack
Add Wafer. Wafer>McBob, and most likely Wafer>2nd round draft pick

Jack wont improve
since his attitude is in the way

I agree
I also noticed that he was one of the guys that chummed it up with Z-Bo when he was around. In my opinion, Jack is the last piece we need to move. I think he will evolve into a fine point guard, worthy of being a starter in the league, but unless his attitude changes and he develops a solid three point shot, I’d be hesitant to keep him. When you’ve got three prolific scorers on your team, EVERYONE else should be able to shoot the 3-ball.
Current team + Greg + Rudy = Blazers losing narrowly to the Spurs in the 2008-2009 Western Conference Finals. Book it.

jack is the first piece
isnt that what you meant? I agree with you completely.

Travis has been on this team for 4 years
by Sabonis4Ever on May 23, 2008 4:57 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
deservedly so
every year Travis has improved, the same will be true again next season. Travis is a team player. Travis is a good human being. Travis is a Portland Trail Blazer.

I don't know if he will improve or not
However, he is good enough that he will expect to get playing time next year, and given how stacked our team will be he might not have a place in the rotation. Players who expect to play and don’t often end up becoming unhappy and destroying team chemistry.
The benefit of having someone like Von Wafer is that he is good enough that he could step in and help us if we need him (ie, if our guards suffer some injuries), but he won’t complain or cause problems if he isn’t in the rotation. Plus he is still young and might eventually be able to earn a rotation spot if he keeps improving.

Von wafer is gone
I like Von and think he might catch on somewhere… but theres no room for him here

This team
wont win a championship. And ultimately that is what i want. I love all these guys a whole lot, ok ok, im not too attached to jack.. and i m fairly certain he’s a gonner but lets get real the team needs some upgrades and that isnt getting us anywhere. Ok maybe it will get us to 45 wins (no playoff berth).
I have a feeling that in the next year and half we lose
Raef (obviously
JJack
Jones
Mcbob
Wafer…if they havent already requested waivers
I die a little bit inside every time I hear of Travis going anywhere, but the realist side of me is saying that if he doesnt handle his business this summer and show great improvement next season that he’s part of a package to get us a pg.

I disagree
I think that this team has the potential to win a championship. I think we would probably win 45 games or more next year even without adding Oden and Rudy, just because our young players will continue to improve. Add Oden and Rudy, and making the playoffs next year looks more likely than not making the playoffs.

I just meant to point out that some
other key pieces are necessary to make the addition of Rudy and Oden work. Namely, a PG and good SF which we have right now..but need improvement sorely.

Let me get this strait
None of you think we have a chance at a Championship next year but still think we despretally upgrade at sf and pg. What for? So we can win 5 more games on our way to a 2nd round playoff loss? We might as well ride this team for a season. Let Oden have his learn the NBA game year and then we’ll know exactly where we are and what we need and will have the cap space available to go get it.
Am I right? Wrong? What?
by Blazersaurus on May 23, 2008 11:59 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
We need to upgrade our pg and sf
So we can have 5 all stars, and a NBC special called “Blazers vs. The World: An Exhibition Match for the Ages”

If we make a trade
it will be near next season’s trade deadline to some other team making an insane fire sale ala Memphis for cost cutting and youth. Wouldn’t it be funny if that team was phoenix, Maybe we can get Nash for Sergio and/or Jack and Raef for our playoff push.

I like the idea of staying pat let our players have one more year don,t forget we also have McRoberts and like you said possably that first rd. pick which would be nice if it could be R.Westbrook.
