Trade for Rose
Give up Aldridge & number 13 to Chicago for the ability to draft Rose. Aldridge is a nice kid and a fantastic player, but in order to make the next jump, the Blazers are going to need a point on the level on Paul & Williams. The Blazers will have lots of cape room after 08'-09' season to try to sign a quality PF, which in my opinion will be easier thing to do rather than find a All-Star caliber point guard that can change a franchise. Besides, Aldridge seems to me to be a little soft. I would like a Boozer/Horford type power forward long term.

Where would the Spurs be the last few years without Tim Duncan?
Where would we be without one of the best PF in the league and a rookie for a PG? hmmm….

I think people are misunderstanding the levels of this draft. Not a single GM in the league would ever give up GO or Durant for Rose or Beasely. Last years draft was a once in a decade draft, rose is good, and could make an immeadiate impact along with Beasely, but they are not even close to as good as KD and GO are.

I think Beasely might be better than Durant
He did put up better numbers in college. However, a healthy GO should be more valuable than either of them (and more valuable than Rose) because good centers are more valuable than good perimeter players.

KP says he feels there are two franchise changers in this draft. Don’t forget that Beasley put up better numbers across the board than Durant, playing in the same conference for a team that got just as far in the NCAA tournament.
I think its very close between Beas, KD and Rose.

He means Rose...
and maybe someone else. I am confident that OJ Mayo is going to be an NBA All-Star, has star power and will be the “Franchise” face of whatever team he is on. I am not certain I would say that for Beasley. Kind of like LMA in a way. LMA may have more upside than BROY, but BROY is our franchise face, LMA is a key piece and a needed key piece on a competitive team. Beasley will make a team much better, but Mayo and Rose will help sell more tickets.

That is never ever going to happen
KP has stated several times that Broy LA and Oden are here to stay for “a long time”. We have three all star calibur players playing in their true positions making up most of our starting lineup… we are in a better spot than ne 1. We need a good pg but seriously LA isnt worth it. Oden isnt the scoring threat we need so LA has to stay.

Wow that's a tough one.
Roy means much more to this team that he does on the open market. A #1 pick in a very good draft is mighty tempting though. I don’t think I’d do it. I will say that if KP is on the phone with Chicago, its vastly more likely to be about Hinrich than about Rose or any of the Blazer big 3.

Yeah; Roy falls into that category:
“Way More Valuable To His Current Team Than He Would Be To Any Other Team”.
Roy means too little to the Bulls for them to give up the Rosely pick for him,
and too much to the Blazers for us to give him up for that pick.
Bad deal for BOTH teams.
Blazers have a five-on-three...and they pull it back and wait for help.

Dude, I thought I was the piss in the cereal
anti-homerism guy. That’s nuts, man, there’s no one in this draft I’d trade for Roy. Roy’s stats aren’t great, but he makes his team better. Look at how the Lebron’s teammates have played with and without Lebron, and reflect on how incredibly lucky we are to have a crunchtime guy who’s willing to sacrifice his stats and prioritize team success. I wouldn’t trade Roy for anyone in the league other than Dwight Howard, CP3, or LeBron.

I don't think anybody here would really trade Roy for Rose
The point is the first pick has stoked interest in an otherwise moribund and depressed fan base in Chicago. Like with Oden last year, you can’t help but think people in Portland would have been a little disappointed to welcome Dirk Nowitzki and watch GO fly to Texas. Whether or not Rose is as good as Roy or not is irrelevant. With a prospective player the allure is in not knowing what you’re getting.

The Bulls would much rather have a dominate 7-footer FO-SHO
I can’t believe that anyone would be claiming that Chicago would rather have Rose over Oden. Rose is a great prospect, but so is Oden. Chicago would trade #1 overall for Dwight Howard too. Thier roster would so set if they were able to get a dominate big man, not just a power forward like Beasley. Rose is gonna be a great addition, but seriously, they want a center and would do anything to get one of the “Next Big Things” at center.

I think i have figured out a way to do this!
I would never trade that pick if i were them, but then again, chicago already has hinrich, both miami and chicago would get a lot better if chicago drafted beasley, but whatever… I think we could move up in the draft, the heat desperately need a PG, and maybe we could sign jose for $7 million, then force miami to give us their pick and blount for jose and our 1st rd next year, and 3 yrs in the future and all of our second rounders this year, and then give chicago a framed photo of LMA dunking over Tyrus , to switch picks with us, and just to be nice we should give them our 1st round in 2 years. Oh and then we hire some guys (or ask for BE volunteers) to beat blount and break his knees so that way the next year he medically retires (out of fear) and his salary comes off of our cap.

I couldn’t let LMA go for nuthin’, no how. With that big three, we don’t NEED an allstar PG since Roy is an amazing playmaker.
Of course, it’d be nice to have a better PG, but we don’t need a Chris Paul/Deron/Rose (if that good) type dude.
Plus, I GOTTA see LMA and Oden together. I can’t imagine a better PF to put next to Oden, and their skills should compliment each other like GANGBUSTERS. I gotta have it, I got got to have it!

I love me some LMA, but I’ve been saying it for a while…...at some point, if we really want to make a major move, he’s the expendable one of the 3 with Oden coming on board. That doesn’t mean I think we have to make a major move though…...
And yes, this draft pales in comparison to last year. I’d almost take Horford over Beasley, but Rose over Horford.

I think everyone
is just freaked out about letting another franchise point guard slip through everyone’s fingers. That might be why everyone is freaking out about Rose, but college shows so little of a PG’s abilities that drafting one is much trickier than any other position. A lot of the great point guards in the league today weren’t drafted with the first or second draft pick, and the even better PG of the past have been drafted later in the rounds. The only PG that i can think of that went that early was Isaiah Thomas (afterlooking allen iverson was the #1 pick in 96, and baron davis was a #3 pick in 99 so i guess it isn’t unheard of) . Jack was considered along with CP, Deron, and Raymond Felton as a group of 4 that was take your pick, picking a PG is remarkably hard to do, and I am not sure what it is about Rose that is so amazingly cut above the rest, when amazing PG have in the past been so often overlooked.

Aldridge is too much to give up for an unproven player like Rose.
I disagree that we need a Chris Paul or Deron Williams type point guard to get to the next level. Look at the teams that are still in the playoffs: all four managed to advance by having all-star power forwards and mediocre point guards (Detroit has Chauncey Billups, but they managed to advance even though he was out with an injury). Meanwhile, Paul and Williams are already on summer vacation.

Madness of the Summer!
It’s the offseason hysteria, where we all focus on one main issue and discuss it to death and blow up its actual importance to herculean levels. WE NEED A SMALL FORWARD we said last year. WE NEED A POINT GUARD this year. Next year maybe it’ll be CAN NATE TAKE US PAST THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS? WE LOST IN 7 TO THE SPURS AND THAT ISN’T ACCEPTABLE.
We just gotta go with the flow, my friend, cause we wouldn’t be able to stop it. I know I’ve done my fair share of debate. I wouldn’t argue with getting a better PG, but with a playmaker like Roy I do not think we need it—and with the team defenders we should be havin’, I’m also not convinced we won’t be fine against the Deron’s and Paul’s of the world. We beat them pretty good already, without Oden, after all. We’ll only get better.

Rose MAY be a great player--probably, even
But I have absolutely no doubt about LMA. At the rate he’s progressed so far, he should be a top power forward in this league for a couple of decades. Paired with GO, the synergy will be off the charts. We’re talking about a twin towers to make people forget prior twin towers. The two have already talked about becoming the new Duncan/Robinson—except with the two hooking up for their entire careers.
Yes, this is a guard’s league these days, and Rose will likely be a great one. But with Roy, LMA, and GO, you have a known quantity—a rock-solid foundation. Just add a GOOD starting point guard (Westbrook?), and you’re set for the championship run. Add a couple hardnosed role players, mix in some experience, and serve up the championships.

They’ll stop building the new World Trade Center in New York because LMA and Oden will be all the twin towers America will need.
Instead, giant monuments shall be built in their honor, formed out of the discarded flesh and gristle and bones of their rivals. Good point guards will quiver at the mere thought of trying to drive on the Towers; whoever makes Depends will make a new version for NBA PGs and it will be their best selling adult incontinence product ever.

Riley Wants A “Major” Free Agent
By: Wendell Maxey Last Updated: 5/22/08 9:41 AM ET | 3257 times read
Adjust font size:Pat Riley is known to some as “Coach Slick” and others as Mr. “GQ.” But come the NBA Draft on June 26th at Madison Square Garden, Riley may earn another moniker: Trader Pat.
Riley – team president for the Miami HEAT – let it be known Tuesday night after the HEAT secured the second overall pick he would explore trading it. For some, the declaration came as a shock. Even Michael Beasley probably felt a bit slighted, particularly with Derrick Rose likely to be selected first overall by the Chicago Bulls.
But you have to hand it to Riley. He’s not making a pick or packaging the meal ticket for next season. Nope. Instead Riley and the HEAT have their gaze set on 2010.
