If Rudy starts then Roy plays...

This is my first fanpost on this site, so i just wanted to share a few thoughts.

If Rudy is in the starting lineup it doesnt really mean that Roy is the starting point they may have stretches with Rudy, Roy, and Webster/Trout where Roy is playing point but I'd say its more likely that Roy would start at sf and depending on substitution patterns would play the 1 2 or 3 spot while Rudy would stick to the 2 when he's in.

What do you guys think?  Would this cause more or less wear & tear on Roy than starting at point?  Can he guard bigger guys better than he can guard smaller quicker point guards?

Poll
If Rudy starts at the 2 Should Roy play the 1 or the 3?
  • Roy should start at point guard.
  • Roy should start at small forward.

I think the 2-3 will be pretty interchangeable between the two of them.

With Roy the better defender, I see Roy taking the better player of the opponents 2-3 on defense. Well, at least if he has fouls to give. It might be a little small, but with the big timbers up front, I think we’ll be okay. And if we wanted to go bigger, we would simply bring Outlaw in for Blake, since both Roy and Rudy have ball-handling ability.

I think we just say we have two guards who can handle the ball

Put Rudy and Roy out there as guards. We play a lot of Zone Defense, so neither has to “guard” a guy all the time and get “worn out” guarding a “quicker” point guard.

Call Roy the point; call Rudy the point; either way it makes for a heckuva tough matchup for smaller guards. It’s like we’ve got two mini versions of Magic Johnson out there.

It's a WAR, and we're bringin' the BOOM!

I think ....

that Nate McMillan gets paid a nice salary to make decisions like this.

by timg56 on May 14, 2008 11:53 AM PDT   0 recs

I know this much is true

I think Rudy will be a starter, but he’ll start the season coming off the bench. He’ll come in with Sergio and they’ll look cool together. Then, after Rudy learns how to dribble the basketball, shoot, dunk, and pass in English, Nate will insert him into the starting lineup.

Once he's a starter

We’ll have the most GUAPO starting lineup in the world. They’ll be the DREAMY Team! They’ll leave a trail of broken ankles and broken hearts. The entire 5 man starting lineup will make People’s sexiest people list year in, year out. And isn’t that what we’ve all been clamoring for all along?

No matter how his game translates to the NBA, handsomeness is a universal language, and Rudy speaks it fluently. HUBBA HUBBA!

Sorry Morty, Joel won't start.

His game might be gorgeous, but the old man who will start at the 5 is, ummm, well… ugly lookin.

Oden may not look 19, but I don't think he is ugly

granted I’m not female, so I guess you’d have to ask annthefan or section323 or jorga.

Greg Oden is definitely not ugly. He'll look the same

when he’s 40, 50 and 60. And if you take the time to look at his eyes when he’s being interviewed they are the eyes of a 20 year old.

Personally

I find Oden’s looks to be transcendent. It goes beyond societies norms for “pretty” or “handsome”... he is above it all. He just looks AWESOME.

LMA and Rudy can handle the traditional handsome look, Roy the boy next door. Martell or Trout are both female favorites, so they got the ladies on lockdown if not who they’re defending.

Oden is anything but ugly.

Oden looks like

THE TRUTH! Damn, you think Yeats’ “The Second Coming” would make a spread in Teen BOP? The answer is, the question has already been obliterated. It’s like asking whether or not Michaelangelo’s David could have handled Wilt in the post.

No

It’s from the video for “Rock With You.”

In the “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” video he’s wearing a tuxedo and an over-sized bow tie.

It is such a terrible burden to have YouTube blocked at work. I cannot think of anyone, who has had to endure such suffering.

why is Rudy going to start?

Isnt barring a trade, the line-up going to be Blake at PG, Roy/Webster Lamarcus and Oden?

If you dont talk to your cats about catnip, who will?

by bow4meow on May 14, 2008 9:41 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Surprising how many people voted that Roy should be SF

This morning the people who voted SF were greater than the people who voted PG. I would have thought that PG would have been the almost unanimous choice.

by Love on May 14, 2008 7:07 PM PDT   0 recs

I think a lot of people voted for sf because

those are the people who want to see Rudy start if he’s as good as advertizd we just have our doubts about Roy playing point for 35-40 min per game through the regular season and into the playoffs without wearing down. I think that there will be times where he’s at the point with rudy & web slinger/trout, but it should maybe be 10-15 min per game not the full 40.

by DephlatorMouse on May 15, 2008 8:15 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Can Rudy

Can Rudy bring the ball up under pressure? That will really determine if he can play with Roy as it will be a waste of Roy’s energy to bring the ball up under pressure in the early stages of the game.

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

by jonestr on May 14, 2008 8:01 PM PDT   0 recs

Rudy can bring the ball up under pressure

if defenders dare to put pressure on him, what I doubt once they will realize they will be left behind. That doesn´t mean he won´t need some time to adapt.

Of those powders these muds went out.

You can say it. He will be the best player ever. No need to be humble.
