Sergio to the Knicks?
I do wish he could succeed here, but I'd hope that we're done developing long shots and giving minutes to players with major holes in their game. That said, the Knicks need a fun-to-watch distributor with Sergio's talents and can afford to allow him to grow a more rounded game. Mr. Nash never played much defense for D'Antoni as I recall anyway. Is there a deal to be made now as the new regime begins to reconfigure the roster? Another Stevie Francis type salary driven deal? Where will the Knick's draft this year? Could Raef factor in? Next year's first, perhaps? Dump some of our second rounders at least?

Fast Breakin'
I was thinking the same thing. The first thing D’Antoni needs is a speedy PG like Sergio to run his offense. But who on the Knicks’ roster would KP want. I have a hunch, PG is where Walsh will be going in the upcoming draft.

Yeah
I think the only guy on their roster KP would want is David Lee. He’s a fan favorite and not going anywhere. Good idea though. Also, I think they’ll take Rose with their draft pick.

Man
That link would not work no matter how I tried to post it.
I kept doing this: 3025&teams=2218&te=&cash=” target=”_blank”>David Lee

I can't actually connect to that link...
but is was undoubtedly a rather weak trade proposal.

It was a straight up trade
Of Sergio for David Lee. It works with no kickers. I have no idea what is going on with the links. It looks like it happened to someone else in this thread.

As I said...
with Sergio’s good looks and undeniable charm (ask Harlow), I fear the David Lee would be a tremendous downgrade.

There's
absolutely nothing on the Knick’s roster that I would take for free. If they want to deal some unprotected 1st round picks, I’d listen.

I will be the first to say it
Nate Robinson. Seriously, I would take him on my team in a heart beat. For once I am not joking. He would be a super backup for Roy.

But I can’t imagine any way the Knicks do it without Isaiah at the helm. They’d probably ask for something like this:

Z-Bo’s contract makes it tough, but it’s possible.

Calderon is a restricted free agent, so I used Garbajosa instead in the Trade Machine. I figure that Calderon will make about 4 mill a year.
Looks like an alright trade for NY and Portland… but there is NO WAY IN HELL Toronto trades Kapono, Parker and a re-signed Calderon for Z-Bo and JJ1.

Why would Toronto want Randolph when they already have Bosh?

They could throw Bosh in for us.
He could back up LaMarcus.

I think...
that some players on the knicks are going to look really good next year. Remember when Tyson Chandler seemed like a bust on the Bulls?
I would give Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson the best odds of turning their careers around with a new coach or team. Crawford might do especially well in Mike D’Antoni’s system.

Those two, yes...
But Eddy Curry? Zach? The next book written about a D’Antoni team will be “Wait At Least 7 Seconds for a Shot After Passing to Zach While He Jab Steps and Ignores Cutters Before Settling For an 19 Foot Fall Away”
Their roster needs to be overhauled but can’t be. One Big Problem is that much of D’Antoni’s success was based on having wings who could consistently hit threes once the defense overreacted to Nash’s penetration. That’s how they survived without defense – you would be matching their 3’s with 2’s. Joe Johnson, our James Jones, et al thrived. Grant Hill had a great season, but I think he may have actually dragged the Suns down.

Zach Randolph.
How is D’Antoni going to deal with the slow-paced, black hole that is Zach Randolph. I suspect they will trade him for a ham sandwich if they get the chance….

Zach can shoot though...
Zach is a really good shooter out to near the 3 point line and isn’t all THAT slow. He’s just super-very-hyper-unathletic, and likes to whine at the refs which makes him not run downcourt. Plus he plays no defense, which doesn’t make him too much different than Amare. I think D’antoni could use him though, as his rebounding will always be useful and he’s a big who can shoot, which D’antoni likes.
Now, as far as Sergio goes, I hope for his sake he doesn’t go to NY. If he has confidence issues in Portland, the NY fans and media will rip out his soul and eat his bones.
At least now when no one plays defense on the Knicks, they can say it’s the system and not their laziness.

Trade Zack for a Ham Sandwich
And one that is half eaten, and sat in the fridge long enough to be considered life. Maybe it will play defense.

Ah....Reuben!
Total slimeball! (I never faulted Zach for sucker punching him. I just couldn’t bring myself to it). That being said…..a Reuben-type player would be perfect for this team. Some dude to just go spaz crazy and get every rebound and play hounding defense and go flying upcourt to get a dunk. Inject a little intensity into the defense!!
PS I think Reuben may be a case of ‘roid-rage. I just don’t know, but dude was seriously a wack-job.

I really like his hustle and heart. I’d prefer David Lee, but no way does NY give us Lee for Sergio straight up. Depending on who we could get with their draft pick, that would interesting also.
