Fire Nate

God, I miss the season already.  I loved overanalyzing every single move that was made in the game, like each was the end of the world, or at least the end of the franchise.

However, my favorite part of the season was piling on after any loss where it was due to some decision Nate made that really was trivial, but ended up costing us in some winding convoluted way through my lens of ridiculous logic.

well

Nate’s not God, and he definitely made some seriously questionable choices with lineups during close games that we can PROBABLY say cost us the game (Joel not being in during the end of the Toronto game is a huge one that comes to mind)... But I don’t think anyone with half an iota of basketball knowledge would seriously say he’s a bad coach or needs to be fired.

Also, I’m totally with you, I miss overanalyzing the games! I just miss the damn games!

I only have a quarter of an ι (iota) of basketball knowledge.

And I don’t think he’s bad.

The thing I like about Nate

is that he isn’t afraid to bench someone for 7 games if it suits him and the team’s cause, and then bring them back for 20+ minutes for a 3 game stretch, then bench them again.

I really hope the Blazers keep him for a long time. The coaches around this league that have success are the ones that have been around the longest. Phil Jack, Riley, Sloan, Adleman, and especially Greg Poppavich. I hope Nate becomes the Blazers’ version of Pop over the course of the next few years.

It's a WAR, and we're bringin' the BOOM!

When I get pissed about Nates mancrush on Jack and Juan Dixon, and other things that make no sense to me I remind myself that he won 50 games in his last season in Seattle, and the following season the team that was expected to win the division completely fell apart without him. Then I think of the streak, and I ask myself if I know of any other coaches who would have gotten as much out of these players than Nate did after losing their marqee center and number one pick. He is a good coach and I am glad he is our coach. At this point I’d hate to see the team make a change. There is no compelling reason to do so. The glass is much more than half full.

Finally....

....we are coming to are senses regarding Nate. He must go!! This guy has his priorities totally messed up. Everyone knows that the Blazers MUST develop our young players. How are we ever going to know how good Sergio and Von are if we keep playing Roy and Blake. Also all this emphasis on winning is hurting our draft chances. We could have had a much higher pick if it wasn’t for that stupid 13 game winning streak.

SPAM

Spend Paul Allen’s Money to buy Larry Brown a ticket out of Charlotte! Who cares if he just signed a contract? We know he’s available!

Continuity

A winning team needs three things: talent, solid if not great coaching, and continuity. Nate is certainly good enough to coach a championship team with talent, and this team is getting close. We all know the so-called geniuses: Jackson and Riley were loaded with talent. A coach with Shaq and Kobe in their primes that didn’t win championships should be banned. Popovich, a low key sort of guy, did it by riding one great player for decade with a good cast of role players. L.A. is back in the hunt this year because the complimentary guys to the current MVP are better than they have been since Shaq left. Look how long it took Larry Brown to win championship, and what a team he had. In two years, Nate should have all the pieces. Then we should judge him. For now let’s judge him on a 41-41 team that competed all year without the #1 pick of perhaps the decade. Not bad I say.

Pfff

If he would have played Sergio more, we would have won at least 60 games. I agree with everything else you said though. I’m really happy that he’s part of the Olympic coaching team. That will only make him better.

Tom is about the only one who gets the point

I’m not actually advocating Nate’s firing. I just remember it was my favorite refrain after we lost due to dumb luck.

Last night I got a dusty pinky

How many “that guy” guys, do you think we’ll have this off season?

It´s funny to follow you and your language.

You fire people, you have people in your books, you throw cents (I don´t know how you calculate the cents you wanna throw) and you have “that guy” guys….
I hope we´ll have some “that guy” guys in transition. I consider them as good pick prospects, waiting our hopes and ifs about them will be the good guy get it done.
I´m daring again.

Yes. Those guys were who I was talking about.

I hope they transition from “that guy” to a Bedger guy. But the first step is to pick them for BE, the second is development (hopes and ifs) and the third will be “get it done”.
