Should Oden suit up against Memphis?

Now before everyone freaks out, I don't mean play, I just mean suit up and take warm-ups.  This is our last home game of the year.  Can you imagine the buzz that would be created by doing this?  Would you not go crazy if you were at the game?  Wouldn't this give Oden a little pick me up to get ready for a long off season of rehab?  Think about the effect on his teammates however small it may be.  Can you imagine all of the smiles on us as fans just watching him warm-up.  Maybe get a little national publicity at the same time.  What fun!

That would mean
he was on the active roster. Would that make him a rookie this season?

That's a good question
I'm not sure, but I think that he would have to play in a game to qualify him as a rookie.

I've wondered for weeks
if KP might try to get the NBA to buy off on Oden dressing, being announced and sitting on the bench, without actually being activated for the game.

It would probably be a win-win for everyone, seems like it's worth a shot. It would be loads of fun to end the season on.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
But I did like the L*aker gane where he pushed around the Nebelwerfer with Bl*ze, bombarding the audience with free T-shirts. Oden in a Werhmacht helemt - priceless!

No Warm Ups!

I loved that also
He had such a huge grin on his face.  He really is just a big kid.  Can you imagine that enthusiasm next year!

That's why I would want him to suit up so he can have something positive (not that it would hurt him not to) to close the year out.  Not to mention the fans.  And believe me I don't want to have him do anything that would cause potential for injury!

Not a bad idea
It might make his summer a little shorter.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Who cares if it causes him to lose Rookie of the Year, that would be AWESOME

I assume...
...you are simply talking about a "publicity stunt" where he suits up and just warms up but in no way, shape or form is officially activated?

I guess it would be OK, but I'd want full clearance and understanding from the league. I don't want Odens rookie status taken from him on some stupid technicality.

It would be cool to see him in a Blazer Uni, and warm up, but then again....I think I can wait for the real thing next season.

It's not the last home game of this season that really matter as far as Oden is concerned, it's going to be the home opener next season. I guess I have to side with let's just wait.

They could do something cool, why not let Oden do the announcing of the team intro?

This would be an obvious cheesy promo thing
and I would vote against it. No team should have a player involved in warm-ups and on the roster, which they have not cleared medically or otherwise to actually play in the game.

I would also hope that Greg would have enough self respect and pride to reject being part of such a cheap stunt. However, having Greg announce the starters might be a cool idea.

Nah
I will be at that game and the only thing I want is for a 12min highlight reel of this season on the jumbrotron at halftime. Must be patient with Greg. It will make next year all the sweeter. That being said... I cant freaking wait for opening night next year... I'm going to lose my mind this off season with anticipation.

Seriously
As amazing and great this would be, I don't want his rookie status to be in any way endangered.  However, it's a great pick-me-up if we can do it.

This is going to be a painful summer of waiting.

Waiting?
Kevin Pritchard waits for no man. This summer's going to be active and exciting.

Do it.
I'm sure he doesn't care about winning ROY next season. Let him warm up. Let him read the names at introduction. Give him Todd's job of running the time-out entertainment.
Get Greg outta the burbs

You might want to ask Greg first
how he would feel about throwing away his excellent chance of getting a ROY trophy.

I agree.
And even if Greg doesn't care NOW, he probably will someday, not to mention it is nice plublicity for the team, encouragement for the fans, and a chance to be in the rookie all star game.  I was wondering if not being on the active roster all year made him a rookie next year - sounds like it does.  That's worth preserving.  Otherwise, could be an entertaining maneuver.

The real corret answer
Yes, I think he can wear what he wants to a game (might have to pay a dress code violation fee).  Just because he puts on a jersey and warm-ups, does not mean he is activated.  I think that would be a great idea to have him just doing the pre-game warm ups, I thought that Nate was going to have him doing that on a regular basis anyway.  I think it was that NY game (@NY) where he was in warm ups prior to the game shooting around and as I recall he even threw one down.  It should be a good game to go to regardless, this was a good year to be a Blazer fan.  Thank you Blazers.

roy not a shoo in next year
by any means.. there are a lot of scorers in the top ten of the draft...they vote on offense.. not rebounds and defensive presence..points put butts in seats and get you on sports center  Hey didnt Sam Bowie tear up a leg during warm ups?
if it can be conceived it can be achieved

I think he should start off slow
Maybe get into a pickup game at the local club...

rookie of the year
should not be jeopardized. and the stunt would do nothing for me. i don't get it, to tell the truth. i want to see him play. victory laps before he's played a single game means... what?

Warmups? Sure
Activated?  No.

Uniform?  No.

Throw down a couple dunks?  You bet.  Just don't break the backboard.

I'm frequently right, but always certain
