Evaluating Mock Draft lists
Both Draft Express and Hoops Hype have Portland taking Darren Collison at #13. I don't get it. HoopsHype says Collison is a role player at the NBA level and uses Earl Watson as a comparison player. Seriously, who here thinks Earl Watson is the answer for Portland as our staring PG? I wouldn't trade Jack or Blake for Watson.
Here are some of the guys listed below Collison:
Nick Batum 6-8 SF (Rudy Gay)
CDR 6-6 SG (Jerry Stackhouse)
Tyler Hansbourgh 6-9 PF (Luis Scola)
Richard Hendrix 6-9 PF (Paul Milsap)
Courtney Lee 6-5 SG (Anthony Carter)
I select any one of these guys before I go with Collison. (Unless it's Nick Collison we are talking about.)

Good reasoning.

I think Collison is the best of that list.

FYI ...
As for your question, I don't think you can base anything on those comparisons. The only one of those players I'd consider before Collison is Hansbrough. Batum MAYBE if we're intent on keeping him in Europe for a couple years ...

I didn't know about Hoopshype's draftboard
I realize the comparisons are a weak indicator. I'm in the set of folks who don't like comparisons much at all. They are way too subjective.
I voted for Hansbrough myself, but gave consideration to CDR, Batum (who has slipped from where he was at earlier in the season) and possible Hendrix. I'm rooting for Nathan Jawli with our first pick in the 2nd round.
The selection of Sean Singletary (Virginia) with Portland's last selection is interesting. I like him better than Collison.

We're loaded at back up point guard
The t blazers are only gonna get better at that position with someone who has the potential to be better. Great ball pressure D, Penatration and dishing, and if we can have a outside threat as well... Gravy.
We have to trade up for Rose or Bayless (should we not win the lottery) or stick with what we have for next year.
Let's win the lottery. Top three is all we need.

If Hansboro enters the draft, and is available

all of KP's criteria excepts 1.
Tyler Hansborough is just not worthy of a lottery pick. There will be much better options available at #13.

I feel that we are going to move up.
Some peolpe here think that we do not have the pieces to move up in the draft, citing last years draft, where it took Ray Allen to move up to the 5th pick. However looking back there have been a lot of times that a team has moved up in the draft for next to nothing, PROVIDED that their current pick was included.
In 1996 Boston moved up from 9th to 6th for a next years 1st, the 9th and fricken Eric Montross.
And get this, in 1998, Dallas traded the #6 pick Robert "Tractor" Traylor, to Milwaukee for the 19th, Pat Garrity, and the 9th pick DIRK NOWITZKI!!
Then in 04 the Clippers traded Okafor and the 2nd to Charlotte for the 4th, Licingston, and the 33rd, Lionel Chalmers.
We have been in some trades in the past few years also for good and bad. Of course in 2005 we dropped down to Utah giving up the 3rd for the 6th, Webster and the 27th, Klieza in 05 and a 06 1st, Freeland. We also traded the 27th and the 35th for the 22nd, Jack.
Finally in 2006 we used the Khrapper and #4 TT to nab #2 LMA, and then traded Foye and kizzash to Miny for some project scrub, (I think he is playing in Khazakstan or something HAHA ;p)
So if KP thinks that Mayo, Bayless or even Gordon is the way to go, there are very stong precedents in moving up in the draft, PROVIDING that you include your current pick.
I would say Jack, 13th, $3mill and an '09 1st would do us wonders to move up in the draft and while I am not holding my breath fo Rose; Mayo, Bayless and Gordon all could come into play depending on order and combine/workout perfomances.
This is the last year that we can add youth and still have time to develop it as in 09 we will be gearing up for a deep playoff push. Ad to that the fact that this is the last time we will have a lottery pick for the next couple decades, we need to take a close look at some of the players that could be able to help us and pounce on them. I fully trust KP's judgement and scouting abilty and know that he could find us a gem in this years draft.

How bout this, I would take
- Good lockdown D
- Can hit a wide open 3
- High BBIQ
- Isn't afraid to take it to the hole if needed
I have no idea how far Mayo may-o drop (sorry had to do it). The only think I can hope for is that with all these C and F prospects coming out, a team will see that they can get a good big at #13 and something else from us. I mean if it comes down to Mayo, Bayless, or Gordon or Jordan/Randolph/Gallinari/Love, Jack and $3mill, I would go fot the latter.

I'm pretty high on Bayless...
This is potentially a fantastic guard to place next to Roy.
He's a quicker Jack with a better outside shot, from what I've been able to gather.
Denfensively he works hard and should be able to stay with Williams and Paul. (Not stop them, just stay with them and make them work.)
Of course, I ebb and flow from week to week.
Last year even Pritchard said that no other teams wanted to move thier picks.
Hopefully this year is different, if he wants to get one more impact player in the draft.

I don't think
I'm pretty sure we either trade up or trade out. If we don't, it is because we've made another acquisition, such as (perhaps) trading existing players for a veteran PG. If we do that, we might be looking for a big man to plug holes we've made by trading, and all this talk about picking guards is off-base.

Yep I agree
Raef's expiring contract
Jack
Frye
Travis/Martell/Jones
Those are some decent assets that can get us pretty high draft pick.

Outlaw
came to the defense of Roy last night. He's now part of this team and I won't have him traded. Webster too has to much upside to go.
Still we need us some Rose/Bayless action if we can get em. Picks and scrubs and money for our new guy.
