Costas Now-HBO
It is a panel discussion regarding sports blogging, talk radio vs traditional media. It very confrontational....and very facinating. The main thing I noticed was how the older traditional media members (Costas included) seem quite bitter and full of vitriol. I would definately reccomend watching this and I hope Ben or Dave (Casey even) writes up something on it...I would love their take ....and yours. It is on HBO right now and knowing HBO you will get to watch over and over again (Probably also available on HBO OnDemand as well)

Pretty interesting
Warning: There is some major cursing in it by all parties.
I really liked hearing Braylon Edwards thoughts, most of these ‘discussions’ are just bloggers vs. the media, it was refreshing to hear an athlete’s voice. I wonder how different Channing Frye’s thoughts on this would be, being both a blogger and athlete.

Wow...that journalist is pretty condescending
But what hardcore sports fan goes to Deadspin exclusively for sports news and analysis? That place is just infotainment and sports gossip rag. The sporting equivalent of TMZ. If people can’t discern that, then the problem lies within the reader and not the blogs themselves. Then again, the Deadspin guy presenting his tabloid blog as “sports news” doesn’t do himself any favors. Costas did a nice hit job on sports blogs using Deadspin. Traditional journalism at it’s best. LOL.

Costas Question:
“When you defame someone….do you speak with them afterward?”
That was my personal favorite

Not all blogs are created equal
same thing with radio stations. Howard Stern (when he was on public radio) isn’t the same as NPR, just because they are both radio shows doesn’t mean they produce the same quality.

I heard Costas
On Mike Tirico’s radio show yesterday, and Costas had a good point about negativity. His complaint is with all media and specifically talk radio and the internet. His concern is that so many express their opinion then make it personal and rip on anyone that does not agree with their opinion.

Pretty funny ...
One of the writers from another blog that I read was apparently one of the sources for this discussion. Ken Tremendous at:

That was an interesting discussion.
It has ramifications far beyond sports as so much of our news and opinions come from the internet these days. I believe a reasonably intelligent person is discerning enough to filter out the hyperbole. Unfortunately there seem to be fewer and fewer reasonably intelligent people in the world, and I think most of those are more apt to listen to day time talk radio to get their opinions and watch Faux Spews to get their news.
