Get Blazers Edge out of SB Nation!
Look what happens when we try and go global. Blazers Edge was down all day. If this is what the future of Blazers Edge is going to be like, then I don't want any part of it. When SB Nation goes down, Blazers Edge goes down right along with it. In all the time I've been visiting Blazers Edge, this is the first time that the site has been down for more than an hour or two. And the default message that appeared on my screen didn't even mention our beloved Blazers Edge. Does anyone else find this insulting? I don't want to be part of SB Nation if it means being subjected to their malfunctions and administrative foul ups. I want my old Blazers Edge back. It used to be unique. It used to be independent. It used to be a thriving, diverse, multi-storied culture. Now it looks and feels like a monoculture. And look what hapens when SB Nation gets hacked or gets infected with a virus. We locals here at Blazers Edge have to suffer along with everyone else across the SB Nation. It didn't used to be that way.
Perhaps I am overreacting. I'll keep coming here almost every day, but I gotta say I wish we hadn't joined SB Nation.

I agree....
I don’t like this new format at all either. I miss the old site.
I wonder if there’s any way we can talk Dave into downgrading back? Not likely…..
Oden+Roy+Aldridge+Rudy=Dynasty. Believe
I like it
I like the way it looks. I especially like the ‘recommended fanposts’. It keeps good conversations on the front page. I like being able to post comments without reloading the page.
Some people complain about technical issues. I never have an problems with it. I read about other people having problems and I wonder if its not their browser/OS. If there are people having consistent problems, one thing I would recommend is downloading the latest version of your favorite browser (unless your favorite browser is Internet Explorer, in which case you should download the latest version of something else).
The new site definitely has a little bit more html and javascript complexity, and if you have an older browser (or IE) it might not be standards compliant.
I like one the
new features (recommended fanposts) but I really do not like the style. I don’t like the avatars, or the way the site is “up to date”. Before the site was clearly about talking about basketball. But now the site feels just like the dreaded O-Live, and the hundreds of other basketball blogs. I am still going to come here for Dave and Ben’s writing, but I wish we could revert back to the old style, even if it means giving up the recommended fan posts.

You can get rid of avatars
Click on the “dashboard” icon at the top of the screen (the blue square next to your name). The option to turn off avatars is under the “Edit settings” tab. One side effect of turning off avatars: pages will probably load faster.
It doesn’t matter to me.
I don’t know how long BE has been part of SB Nation.
Yes, if every day were like today, that would be a problem. But prior to the last week, it’s been just fine.
I think that’s Dave’s decision anyway, not ours.
There's no decision
Blazersedge has always been a part of SBN…since way before I came here. There’s never been a time when we were independent. I don’t own the site or its technology and never have. Nor was it my decision to switch formats or is it within my power to go back. Besides, even in the old format we looked just like every other SBN site, so I’m wondering about the whole monoculture vs. diverse culture thing.

Total crap. Just cause they have fancy pictures and seven or eight guys running the site. Give me Dave or give me death.

It should have just been handed to us no questions asked.

that's what I thought
but I’m pretty new here, so I wasn’t sure whether it had been independent in the “olden days.”
Anyway, I like it fine, and I like how easy it is to post our own stuff. More so that any other blog I’ve seen.
It might be a good time...
...to post those points in a main page article, Dave.
Otherwise it’s bound to keep coming up. (Especially if there’s any more downtime.)
Personally, I’m getting used to the new format. And I understand technical problems happen. So, no biggie.
Wherever you go, there you are.
OK I'm ignorant
And I overreacted. Guess I just had to express my disappointment with this new format. And at least our color scheme was unique in the old days.
Nature bats last.
Maybe it'll grow on you
once they get it stabilized. We do have some control over colors. Anything you’d suggest?
—Dave
I agree.
L*ker colors have no place on this site.

Geeez
Let them work out the bugs, it wont be like this forever. I believe Blazers edge has always been a part of SB nation, so its just the upgrades that are causing problems. I am totally confident they will work it all out and this site will run every bit as smooth as the old one…
RUDY > MJ
I don't like the format.
It does not run smoothly. I want my BE back like it was.
Toro feces ego id.
I like it like this
This is way more user friendly.
How about the quick links to all the stats and schedule.
Thats what Im talking about.
I like the new format and
magically appearing messages make it easier to converse. I would imagine the gameday threads will become much more enjoyable and easier to follow both the game & thread.
The fanshots, fan posts & avatar images are easier.
The Gameday thread was buggy for me, on my browser...
................................... it recycled random comments from near the top of the page to the bottom, as if they were being reposted.
I reported it, they acknowledged the complaint, haven’t heard back. But I wouldn’t be counting on that necessarily being the greatest thing ever until they figure out what was going on. I have a hunch that 30 people simultaneously posting during a big game is going to crash the sucker…

Other SBN fan sites are lucky to get 75 comments. I couldn't keep the comment section from running away from me
as other commentors commented. I hope they address that before the season starts.

Why did they change blazersedge
and not addictedtoquack? Or have they just not gotten around to atq?
I’ve gotten used to the new look, although I think the site ID gets lost now. The top banner ad dominates the top of the page, and the “Blazer’s Edge/A site for fans by fans” strip is so generic you hardly notice it. If you look at the site that sbnation’s founders started long before sbnation, there’s no mistaking where you’re at.
I guess the top part really is what bugs me. The banner really eats up a lot of space. I know ads pay the rent, but there are better layouts. If they’re unwilling to change the geometry, at least make the “Blazer’s Edge/A site…” strip red and connect it to the Lewis & Clark logo.
Okay, I’m done.
I like the new site
My only complaint: the fonts in the front page articles still aren’t consistent. They are a lot better now, but still not quite the same. On my screen, it makes some of the articles look bold because the text is slightly bigger. If you look at the HTML source, some of the articles have tons of ugly HTML formatting tags all around the text of the articles, while the other ones (the ones that look good) have a cleaner structure with no extraneous tags. I’m not sure what the difference is, but there must be two different ways that articles are being posted, and one them doesn’t work very well.
thats our fault
not the system. it’s one more thing to double-check that we didn’t have to before.
the ugly code is created when we copy/paste from microsoft word into the new WYIWYG editor.
the old system used the default arial font and kept lift easy.
we will adjust.

I was wondering what easy lifting was.

Me Grimlock here to save universe
Today I went to one recommended fanpost to read two new comments and when I hit “Z” there were no yellow comments. I could have looked at the times but I’m lazy like a fox.
