Travis Outlaw trade talk
Apparently according to our Constitution ....pffftt.... attempts to legally ban any and all suggestions or thought of trading Travis violate individual freedoms.... therefore, without engaging in worthless or protracted diatribe,
But since the Diary must be at least seventy five words, I'll guess my entire entry is based on my thinking that why would anybody even want to consider trading Travis Outlaw? My other thought about Travis, in order to make this seventy five words long, is that he has great character, and perfectly fits in with the future design of the team. Travis never takes a bad shot, the shot clock is always working against him,

We have to keep him
considering his potential and contract. Also, Trout got the second loudest ovation before & after the home finale Memphis game.
I’m looking forward to ATF’s response to this fanpost.

What?
“Trout got the second loudest ovation before & after the home finale Memphis game.”
He was the one guy that didn’t get pulled from the game to be applauded. And even if we clap for him loudest it doesn’t mean our GM won’t trade him if the deal is right.

My vote is
He is too cheep to trade unless it is a super A+ #1 deal that no opposing GM would ever do. So my answer would be keep him. He is a ladies man and thats always helps.

Well I didnt figure a straight across trade
to land the PG we all want it may be necessary to include Trout in a package deal .. if so ???

I would rather not trade anybody
I obviously dont know the potential deals that KP gets, but I am just fine with this team as is. If we dont win a championship by the time our cap space comes around then do whatever it takes.

</>Hillary Clinton/Roger Clemens font</> I misremembered that
When the players came through the stands at the start of the game it is my opinion that Trout drew the 2nd loudest cheer. You are of course correct about Travis finishing the game. My point is that it is tough to trade a player who is the favorite of many casual fans and liked very well by 99% of all blazer fans.

who got both assists on those. Have any of our other point guards done that? One of the reasons we can wait one more year for both players, I think.

my point being
McRoberts gets a nod for doing the right thing…. obviously memphis had thrown in the towel with less then 24 seconds to play and McRoberts, Sergio and Travis made em pay. Memphis has no reason to want comeupance since they gave up prematurely.

keep him
.but i’m not sure where he’ll wind up as far as position in the future, i keep thinking about it and i don’t see him higher than the sixth or seventh man
-future line up
-new pg
-roy
-webster
-aldridge
-oden
-rudy first off the bench
-travis
i think Martel will start because he has a better shot and has shown glimpses of dunking at the same level as travis

I agree
Trout would be an excellent sixth man. Energy off the bench, pretty good shooter. He can come in for Aldridge or Webster, depending on matchups. It’s really an ideal situation. As an aside, sadly, Trout’s improvement and the arrival of (supposedly) sharp-shooting Fernandez makes James Jones fairly redundant.

Keep him
Need a good sixth man to compete, don’t really need an all-star level PG

I agree with your former
but not the latter…. somehow the Trail Blazers need to upgrade the PG position without sacrificing Travis.

I just don’t think we need the “all star” level PG… anyone with good defense who is efficient at running the offense will do

The only reason
to trade Outlaw is because we have to give up something good to get something good. He has just about the most trade value of anyone on the team not named Roy, Aldridge, Oden or Raef’s expiring contract. Nearly everyone on the Bedge seems to want to upgrade the PG through trade and the only way that seems possible is to trade Outlaw. Which is unfortunate. That’s why perhaps it’s best to just keep everyone we’ve got (aside from the obvious spots we need to lose to bring in Rudy/draft pick), wait one more year, see if Jack and Sergio can develop further, then make a decision.
by DrivetheLane on Apr 21, 2008 8:22 AM PDT 0 recs
Roster spots
Rudy has a spot on the roster, which was Miles spot and if we don’t trade our draft pick we can wave V.Wafer and that clears a roster spot for our 1st round pick if we keep it.

How do you answer this? Depends I guess
On of the deal was good enough. Is he untouchable? No way. He’s got potential, a good attitude, and a very reasonable contract though. Good luck getting that in return.

Trout takes bad shots
quite often in my opinion, he just makes a lot of them. What a freak of nature. I think keeping him would make me as happy as a partridge kid.
"The next day in practice, if you sweat, it's going to come out of your pores, regardless. If you ask any coach around the league how many times they have smelled liquor on a player . . . As long as that player is showing up on time, doing the drills and running, that's part of it. But there have been times, yeah. Yeah, you probably smelled liquor on me. But it's not like I'm at practice drunk. I'm totally focused."

of those very bad shots. I’m not sure why Nate let’s him take those, he needs to learn good habits.

seems to me
that travis is often put in a position to be the scorer, and it may be weird to suggest but Travis is often forced into shots against the 24 sec clock… just seems too often when the offense broke down, the plan was to look for travis

All I Know
Is that I don’t want to see Travis making those crazy shots against the Blazers. Nate had too much confidence in Outlaw to trade him away.

the flipside may be
that Travis probably is to nice a guy to actually want revenge for being traded (Which we all know will not happen) and have monster efforts against us

Trout
He is the type of player that you CANNOT trade away. He would be mad, we would all be mad, and he would make sure we all knew how mad he was each and every time he played against us.
You cannot trade Travis Outlaw, he is Rejector!

TRade OUT
As mentioned in earlier posts, Trout is the most tradable asset we have outside of our untouchable 3. I would hate to see him go, but it seems the team needs an upgrade at PG moreso than a 6th or 7th man who takes far too many low percentage shots than he makes highlight reel dunks.
What makes Trout even more expendable are the modest contracts we can give to Rudy and Jones. We need these two quality perimeter shooters more than Trout.
If Trout could somehow become a lockdown defender then Martell would be on the trading block.
by LMA on Apr 22, 2008 11:31 AM PDT 0 recs
How much is Trouts value as a character guy
one of the most genuine players in the league… I think Travis has established a rapport with its fans that is more important than you eloquated.
As a 6th man, Travis is one of the best…. and by no means has his game peaked… he plays hard every night and has developed his game nicely despite the constant knock on his hoops IQ (not nessecelery beaten to do in this diary)
Im not so worried about contracts as such, considering Paul Allen is going to have about 7 guys with Bird Rights… ha can afford it, and will to win it all.
