Blogospehere Attempt to Save Sonics
www.SonicsCentral.com is networking with NBA bloggers around the league to save the Sonics. Quoting from the site:
IMPLORE EVERY NBA TEAM BLOG TO POST THE ADDRESS OF THEIR OWNERS. IN ADDITION, LETTERS SHOULD INCLUDE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
“As a form of protest, we vow to boycott any game next season in which the Oklahoma City Sonics play, whether it be in our arena or watching it on television.”
Spread this around as much as you can. It’s going to take the other teams to prevent this from happening. Let’s save the Sonics!
Another blogger named Dave has lent his talents to this endeavour in the form of an excellent post over at www.addictedtoquack.com
If you know of any other sites that can help with this protest, jump on over to www.SonicsCentral.com and let them know.

Quick clarifier.
That’s not “our very own” Dave over there at ATQ – ATQ and Blazer’s Edge are run by different Daves. ATQ’s Dave posts over here as duckblazer.

I'll be posting as 'Addicted to Quack' now
network-wide accounts demanded that I make all my logins the same-and the login Dave was reserved for someone with far greater superpowers than my own (and that’s fine by me-he is the most important Dave in the sports blogosphere).
I haven’t been around as much this season. I’ve been reading everything, just not commenting so much. Having a son will do that.

This Dave believes the Sonics should be saved.
This Dave also believes it’s not a bad thing for our owner to know we feel that way.
This Dave also believes that petitions, especially ones containing threats of boycott, are fairly useless and tend to entrench people in their camps in defiance instead of bringing them to conciliation.
I won’t stop watching the Blazers if they play the OK City Sonics. Neither will most of you. Everyone knows that. However I will say now that I don’t want to be watching the OKC Sonics. I will note now AND then that I think it’s a mistake. I have gone on the record saying that and will do so again. But as far as the petition, as such, not so much.

Agreed
I love the Sonics. I love the Blazers. Why would I drive one away in response to losing the other? The biggest thing I’ve learned from this whole Sonics debacle is that having a pro sports team is a privilege, not a right. If you don’t support your team, it goes away. Personally, if the Sonics move I will probably make special trips down to Portland when they come to town.

Dave
I went ahead and sent an email to the Blazers. Basically put my 2 cents in and and received back a form email but I don’t intend to flood the inbox as it were. Here is what I sent:
Mr Allen….I would respectfully ask that you vote against allowing the Sonics to be moved. I think the league needs to be aware of how bad it will look if a carpet bagger like Clay Bennet is allowed to steal a franchise out from under the city that loves it.

That sounds like something I would sign on to
I especially like the “carpet bagger” part.

Oh, I made no threat that I would boycott
nor did I petition.
But I think that it should be illuminated that this is a sleazy coup being organized by the Commish so that his pal can get a team in OKC. And, with the local ownership groups and new arena plans that have stepped up recently, the NBA is running out of legitimate excuses for a move. Stern responds with “that ship has sailed,” when most leagues are looking for any way possible to keep longstanding teams in their cities.
I just wanted to lend my support to Seattleites who continue to fight.
