Loss to Sacramento and lottery positioning
With our unfortunate loss to Sacramento, the Blazers are two games ahead of Sacramento for the 10th spot in the west, and two games behind for the 12th spot in the lottery. If the Kings win out and we lose out, we get the 12th spot in the lottery. If we end up with the same record as the Kings, we would split the lottery spot with them, essentially getting the 12.5 spot. If we stay ahead of them, we get the 13th spot.
Moving up to the 12th spot means we would have a .1% better chance at the first pick, a .1% better chance at the second pick, and a .1% better chance at the third pick. If we don't strike gold for two years in a row, we would get the 12th pick, one higher (duh) than the 13th.
Conclusion: start tanking! (kidding)

Btw
I think we have a shot at NYC's 5th pick for Raef Lafrenz's Expiring Contract, Jarret Jack and the 12th pick. Heck they might even let us keep the 12th pick.

Yeah I'd be ecstatic to get him
He's pretty quick, he's strong, decent athletic ability, great mid range game has 3pt range, he's like Steve Blake on steroids. I'm really not bothered by the fact that he was averaging pretty high TO numbers in college because, well, I mean who did he really have to pass to? He has the court vision though, you can't teach that.
Really it's between Mayo and Bayless if PDX decides to fix our PG problem through the draft.
I like Bayless as well, but Mayo might be the better fit. Westbrook is an option if we are willing to wait, but with the log jam already we might as well go for the best NBA ready prospect we can get.
