Ok that may be a BIT premature, but there has been some chatter from Quick on the 1080 Suns pregame that a big move is coming regarding the roster. Big thanks to rodbuggy for the initial nod,
As well as our Blazer bretheren forum over at RealGM
Lately I have also been posting on how I have felt that in the past few weeks that Darius will retire. I cant put my finger on it but it just feels that it is coming. I get the same feeling that I got last year when I just KNEW that we were going to get Oden, it just felt so right and this feels the same. Of course I could just be crazy, but I just sense it in the air.
as per Quick,
"The Blazers may have a resolution soon... As regards to their roster."
Now the only things that I could imagine are of threefold:
#1. A resolution on Rudy up or down
#2. An Oden update
#3. A resolution on Darius up or down
#1 seems unlikely as why would Rudy be in discussions when his team is still in tournament play? You would not expect an NBA free agent talking about who he will sign with during the conference finals, so I feel that rules our any Rudy talk. The same could be said of any contract discussions with any of the active players.
#2 Seems unlikely as well, as there is no roster problem with Oden, he is on the roster, he just cant play.
That leaves us with, IMO, only one logical conclusion:
#3 Darius is going to take his medical retirement and ride high into that strip club in the sky (or at least not Portland.)
With his $9mill off our books that gives us ample room to sign a big FA in 2009, even enough for Chris Paul. (Please do not turn this into a 'We cant get Paul' thread. I know how hard it will be but now $$ will not be a concern, thats all I'm saying.)
Pray to God, Allah, Brahman, Zeus, even our own Odin that this is true and we can all rejoice that the last link to the J*il Bl*zers are finally dead and gone.
