Easy baskets.

Charles Barkley said the Blazers were not going to the playoffs because we don't get any easy baskets.  Some here have even said he looks like a genius because he said it.  Ok, what is an easy basket?  It doesn't look that easy under the basket.  Fast break points?  What do you think an "easy basket" is?

I didn't hear...
...Barkley's comments, but he could be referring to "execution". In other words, running a play as it is drawn up - setting the perfect pick, finding the open man, cutting to the basket, etc. so the play LOOKS easy. We do have a tendency to abandon/screw up the set plays and settle for contested jump shots.

Since Barkley doesn't follow every game like we do, he doesn't see the whole picture.

Easy baskets=points in the paint
He said that The Blazers are a jumpshooting team and he is right. Out "points in the paint" point this out and it also explains why we go on these mini droughts. As the broadcasters say (and my eyes see), these are the same shots we always take but they are not going in. When we get the big fella and he gets aclimitized to the league this should go away. We will have a more inside presence and more "easy" buckets

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
