Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Off season thoughts again, but from someone different

No Trade - Must haves - Keepers

Oden - We are all witnesses...wait, the second coming...hmmmmm...regardless he is going to be good, and more importantly a whole lot of fun for Portland
Aldridge - Forget the Rasheed comparisons...a future mix between Garnett and Amare.
Roy - for the obvious reasons.  He looks like he is in slow motion when he is driving

Trade only if it is absolutely and positively necessary

Przy - a beast
Outlaw - The Blazers raised him and he is finally showing what he will become.  Great personality, work ethic, etc....its always about the team.
Martell - (see Outlaw; equal, but different personality and game)
Rudy - I do not know much about him except for the Euro highlights and stats.

Trade if you must, but I will be saddened

Blake - Steady and consistent; loves Portland
Raef - Seems like a good teacher and even better team mate.  His salary is waaaay too much, but will be off the books soon.  (Full disclosure - I am a jayhawk alum)
Frye - Funny dude and also loves Portland
Jones - Consistent (well, was consistent).  He seems to have fun out there, and knows what to do and where to be

Trade and I will just shrug my shoulders

Jack - Great when he is hot, awful when he is not
Sergio - Great passer, vision, etc. but please work on your shooting for next year.
McRoberts - I do not know much except that he is friends with Oden.
Von Wafer - One great game for him.  He needs to have a breakout run, but probably will not get the minutes here

Finally, concerning the draft

I trust whatever happens (draft, trade, etc.), KP will make the blazers better.  Honestly I have no idea what the Blazers need through this draft.

I have nothing to add

Well written and I tend to agree with your opinions. Though I tend to like Jack more than the rest of the Blazer backers if he's got to go, he's got to go. I like his work and that he can slot into both guard spots. If we don't get Rudy, and even if we do, we'll have to keep him unless we get a veteran point.
If dinosaurs voted, Ralph Nader would win the election... Unanimously.

I never have anything to add.
However, that has yet to stop me from opening my mouth... er, typing on my keyboard and clicking 'post.'

What must happen
You have 15 players listed. Omitted is Darius Miles.  If the Blazers are granted an injury retirement waiver, then everything is fine and dandy, except that we still have a 1st round draft pick which requires a slot. If the exception is not granted then two more players must be cut.

Von Wafer and James Jones are free agents. Von Wafer won't be back to make room for said 1st round pick.  Jones should be resigned reasonably priced as was Trout last year. McRoberts would be the second casuatly if waiver is not given or our first rounder is stashed elsewhere for a year.

My expectations:
KP trades to move our 1st rnd pick in the draft and includes a player (Jack or Sergio or possibly Frye, though a couple of 2nd rounders could be used as bait instead) for a higher pick in this draft and a future 1st rounder.  That higher pick will be used for a PG if Jack or Sergio was included or a PF if Frye was included.  The second rounders which KP keeps will be stashed in Europe.  Its the 3 second rounders that will give KP troubles becasue we have no roster spots available this year.  The could easily be exchanged for future 2nd rounders.

Brain fart in second paragraph
What I meant to say... McRoberts will be cut if Darius can't be waived and our 1st rounder is not stashed overseas (i.e. he is signed this year).

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
