Diary of the Weak

I'm weak, I'll admit it. Since the formal inception of a diary of the week "contest" I'm afraid to even post a diary.

Before we were being evaluated, I did not care. So what if I posted a diary and only got 1 response? Big deal.

So what if I got 50 responses and they were all off-topic and spiraled into mayhem? Burn baby Burn was alright.

But now? I don't know....how can you do it? You pour a bit of your creative self into a posting, post it, only to check back later and find nobody gives a damn about your opinion. I could be thicker skinned about it when meaningless definitions weren't being placed on the diaries.

Before I can round into shape, I'd like to see some "Responses of The Week". That's where you get some real creativity.

In the meantime humor me and pretend this had something to do with The Blazers. Please.

About Martell vs Trout vs Jones, and play more Joel in the fourth, and American Idol.

Amercian Idol?
Have we really sunk that low?

Egads.

Yeah, that was crazy
I think there is some manipulation to make the top 10.  They didn't want that lame rocker messing up the tour with her crappy rockerness so they opted to keep the hot girl from Oregon who cannot sing.

If we can root for the blazers of the last 6-7
years I think we can support a bad singer from southern Oregon.  Kristy Lee Cook.

I don't know
There is something about her performances that make me feel embarrassed for her.  She makes me feel uncomfortable.

No that sounds like the
2004-2005 Blazers to me

Well
I thought about making a topic about Amy Winehouse and her, uhm, new "look."

Then we could debate who has had a worse fall from grace: Britney or Amy?

by damir on Mar 21, 2008 4:07 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Britney over Amy.
Reason: In order to fall from grace, one must have been at grace level in the first place.
Both Oden and Oprah endorsed Obama. Should we be concerned?

OK, I'll help Krang!

This is the diary of the week
This is the diary that you seek
Come on, diary-reader Ben
Pick this diary! Pick it then
I will be so happy that
I will smile like the Cheshire cat
Then I'll party all day long
With this super diary song!

Ta-DAHHHHHH!!!

You can't lose after that.

Do they really have to be called Diaries?
Why not something cool like 'thread' or 'topics'

by Sabonis4Ever on Mar 21, 2008 3:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes, I'm tired of getting mocked by my
wife everytime she sees me writing a diary.

by tweener on Mar 21, 2008 11:25 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, those are good.
Although I was thinking more like 'thinner than a thread' or 'off-topics'.

I also like:

Zingers
Literary Werks
Diarrheas
Megaphones
Shots in the dark
Pritchardisms

I wish this site had a forum
Some of the best topics get moved off the page and so continuing discussion on it is nearly impossible. This also means that the same topics get brought up repeatedly.

by Dheepan on Mar 21, 2008 4:10 PM PDT   0 recs

We are working on that too
at least the repetition part.

Also the new format when it comes will have different options for Fan Post flavors...short and long and all that.  This should alleviate some of it.

Hey Dave
What about a Kate Beckinsale dedication diary?

I mean, really:

Sushi is a favorite food among many celebrities, but it's certainly not Kate Beckinsale's..."I have to say, sushi freaks me out more than almost anything," she tells Moviefone. "At least a vagina would be warm."

I mean, really.

Too smoky in there
I think she's gone kwazy from smoke inhalation.  That can't be healthy to breathe in.

I like Kate Beckinsale, but I don't think she'd be as attractive without the Britainy accent.

But get her out of that room!  Stop drop and roll Katy!  Get below the smoke line!

Krang, (is that Klingon?)
Here are some thoughts on how to deal with your dilemma from a psychological view:

  1. Repeat after me: I am a good person. I am a good person. (Do that 100 times)

  2. Do not concern yourself with such trivial things as materialistic rewards, my son. Yours is a higher calling.

  3. Hey, at least this isn't American Idol. Imagine if 30 million people were reading your diary! Now that would be pressure!

  4. Don't be afraid of Ben! You can take him!

  5. See Knickfan's response. You can generate about 100 comments off that one.

  6. The "no poster left behind" program will soon be in full swing. We don't grade on a curve here.

  7. Even if nobody gives a hoot about your opinion, keep on going. That never stopped tominhawaii! ;)

Dear Diary, That picture of Kate Beckinsale made
me feel funny. I found my self scrolling up repeatedly to view the picture of her. Is that wrong? Would my wife appreciate that?

I have had a crush on Kate for a long time. Ever since I saw her in Pearl Harbor. I hearted her big time. Her accent made me swoon. I will forgive her for her lame wolf movies.

P.S. This is a secret diary. Don't never ever tell no one.

P.S.S. I love you Diary. Will you be my best friend?

by jferg on Mar 22, 2008 2:16 AM PDT   0 recs

Did she?
Did the picture make you feel funny like climbing the rope in gym class? Or was it more like "Oooo yick....a girl!!!"?

I watched Click on dvd last night.
As Christopher Wauken says - she has a rockin hot body.

My boss would never see me in before 9 AM if I was married to her.

Suggestions of the weak
  1. Krang, you're too sensitive.  Don't think of it as "evaluation", think of it as a random act of kindness...

  2. Ben, how about always citing more than one (if appropriate).  I really like reading the reasons why you chose them.  We could then add to the post with mentions of diaries that We, the Readers of Blazersedge consider above the norm.  Must give reasons why!  (And helpful for those of us who don't read every one - I hadn't read the Martell diary, but after Ben's mention I did so.)

  3. Comments of the week : good idea.  Ben or Dave could start it out by referencing their favorite comments - again with reasons why - and readers could follow up with our favorites.  Favorite comments could be : best comment that advances the diary's position; best one that repudiates it; funniest one; best one that starts a tangent that has a life of its own...

Or best comment...
...that encourages debate while not intimidating the other posters, while using appropriate language and doesn't imply that Nate is racist and is between 127 and 129 words long (not counting "If"s and "But"s).

Oh...and no mention of Idol or showtunes

by 92wastheyear on Mar 22, 2008 9:37 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Thanks Everyone
Thank you everyone for your input. I've gotten 30+ responses to this diary. I think I've learned the trick to gaining popular response is to post huge color pictures of Kate Bekinsale.

   Works for me.

Clearing Room For The Blazers Out West

As the playoff picture begins to take shape it becomes clear that the Western Conference is one big game of musical chairs. There are nine viable playoff teams; unfortunately there are only eight playoff spots. For the Blazers to get a spot, one of last year's playoff teams needs to fall off. Someone's going to be caught standing when the music stops. The following are possible scenarios that could derail each team on their quest for playoff glory, helping the Blazers get back to the postseason for the first time since 2003.

Check out the other scenarios over at Bustabucket
