At 30 points a game
I'll be winning a jersey in no time.

Max score is 25 right?

It is indeed
I'm getting entry boxes but not the labels.  The first is user name, the second is e-mail.

Question & Suggestion
Hey Dave,

Did one of these last two games not come through for me?

Regardless, is it possible (if not this one perhaps for next season) to see a list of received entries - not what they've input (I like not knowing what anyone has input and vice versa), just a list of usernames who have entered on a particular form / game?  Having done some data base web work in the past I am pretty sure it would be a fairly simple bit of code to add (displaying the people who have entered at the bottom of the form, which would auto-populate as entries were received).  It would let people see if peoples entry packets were indeed received, one nice thing about the old system was that there was never a mystery regarding whether or not you entered (though I know that the processing of scores makes the new system a necessity... and as I said I really like that no one knows what anyone else has submitted.  Just an idea, as always keep up the phenomenal work!  We appreciate you!

I'd assume this functionality will be added
sooner or later.  We want to get the basics down first.

Be aware that I'm not entirely sure the number of entries line is functioning properly right now.

Which game did you enter that you have a question about?

I think it is working in my case
I'm not listed in the Cleveland game scores at all and am quite confident my score would be much higher had I been (aka I think I was scored for the Bucks game, but not the Cavs game), as I've had all solid games this month regarding predictions.

Honestly, I'm not entirely surprised.  I was concerned as my computer froze up almost immediately after I entered (though did get the "entered" - forget exactly what it says screen just prior) and had to restart it several times (from the black screen) before it was going again.  By that time I had to run out and meet a client who I was late to meet, so I didn't re-submit, or email you with my attempted entry.  In retrospect I wish I had, but it's just a game, not a big deal, I was just feeling good about where I'd land after scores were posted.

Like I said, no big deal, I think it will be great when that feature is added because we all know that things don't work out every time (usually yes, every time, no... probably 95+% of the time) you attempt to post something online, etc... those pesky packets occasionally don't do as they are told.

Ahhh...OK
Let me know if you have difficulties with this form too.

it is possible
if you enter your user name and e-mail address, you can click the "review game forms" link and look at all your past gameforms - including the one you just entered - to verify that it was received.

Is the double figure
question an all-or-nothing point getter or do we get partial credit for being close?

You know, Dave, this new format may save you time, but some of these newer questions are taking more of MY time :-)  OTOH, I'd probably score just as well making wild guesses...

hey baby,
I recently learned that Dave runs this blog from some backwoods state that doesn't have internet - a local kid beeps out the 1's and 0's and Dave's wife translates that into something resembling the internet (it should be mentioned, they have to drive the family's '38 Chevy about 40 miles to the nearest hill in order to do this).

So, if 5 minutes per game for a month is all it takes for to win a jersey (and have some fun hoping your predictions were right), then I'm all for it. In that amount of time, someone earning minimum wage could buy themselves two items off the dollar menu per month. Or we could get a jersey. I think it's a good deal.

by manzell on Mar 11, 2008 10:15 AM PDT up reply actions

LOL
if it was five minutes that would be fine, but I do research :-)

(perhaps because my leaky memory requires me to start fresh with each game.  Brandon Roy?  Is he any good?  At what point does a rebound become offensive?  And why is the more you do something offensive good? If it offensive why is it even allowed on BE?)

Any question
where you answer from a menu is all-or-nothing 10 points.  Any number answer gives you more points the closer you get to the correct number.

Manzell
do you have a suggestion box for your superb automatic game prediction form? :)

I'll just post it here...maybe add a checkbox to save people's username/e-mail in a cookie, plus add a little box on the right showing their current total score, number of submissions (and total possible submissions) and overall ranking.

If you want, I can help you implement this. I'm a web developer.

the next step
#1 - I am totally open to suggestions.

#2 - Send me an e-mail to [my blazersedge user name] @ [the top level domain where the gameforms are hosted] and we'll talk.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
