Bassy vs Sergio
I am looking at some stats for Bassy and noticed not only how much of a jump hes made this year...but how unbelievable his Ast/TO ratio is for Feb so far.
In the last 5 games hes put up 37 asts and 3 TOs.
His shooting still remains to be atrocious...yet I remember seeing his HS highlights and "movie" saying how good of a shooter/scorer he was.
Bassy is a good example of what a few years of consistent minutes can do for a player. Granted he's still got a long way to go.
Like Sebastian, Sergio also lacks a jump shot at this point, but he does have excellent court vision. Sergio is still a youngster and I can picture him working hard until he gets where he wants to be, but after a few years of working hard and having little results I would imagine it begin to tear down a players confidence.
Do you think that Sergio will be a better player than Sebastian in 3 years? Will Sergio ever be put into a role where he can have a meaningful role by the end of next season? If traded what could we expect for return for him?

They are only a year apart,
Sergio has a similar assist per minute rate to Telfair but turns the ball over a little more. I do think consistent minutes help a point guard. My biggest concern is that Nate won't let Sergio play to his strengths and I would't be surprised to see Sergio traded away and have success in a different system.

Do you think the same happened to Bassy?
i.e. the "Nate doesn't like flashy PGs and hinders their development" theory.
Or do you think Telfair had other issues, not applicable to Sergio, that led to him being shipped out?

One other thought.
Bassy was Nash's pick--not KPs.
(Jarrett Jack was also reportedly a John Nash choice, although KP was on board with the Blazers by that point).
Sergio, OTOH, is a Kevin Pritchard pick.
That said, I think KP is smart enough to know good (or bad) basketball players when he sees them, and hopefully will judge all players fairly.

I think both are applicable.
However, Telfair had issues both on and off the court that contributed to him laving.

I'd take Sergio over Telfair all day long

He plays for the Timberwolves
Bassy is not a great scorer in this league, but man can that guy pass. BTW it is not like Jason Kidd is a light it up shooter, but Bassy will never be the defender that JKidd is/was.
