Of course you know Brandon Roy is an All-Star. I consider the ASG more of a cookie and a pat on the head for fans than anything ultra-significant BUT it's cool to see Brandon make it because he's a nice guy, a great player, and because you know that this is as much a nod to how the team is doing as how he is doing. If he had the same stats with a 15-31 record he would not have gotten in. It's a good reminder that winning is the best way to get attention.

Also the X-Rays on his hand were negative.

Hard to know which is more current

But Hendrickson wrote this about Roy's hand [bold face mine]:

"It's going to be a game-time just because I haven't had a chance to bounce a ball," Roy said. "It's just badly jammed right now. I'm icing it right now, but it'll be OK."

The negative x-rays

to me was a much bigger story than I-Roy getting the all star berth. What a relief!

I don't know who Joseph is

but many, many thanx to him for linking us to the 77 Blazer Championship game! Wow, was that fun! It had been almost 31 years since I watched that game and I remember at the time my heart rate was so elevated I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Today, even knowing the result, I'll bet my heart rate was still approaching 100!

Talk about playing not to lose at the end; it almost cost them the game. That was an awesome team though, featuring a very talented and totally unselfish star who heavily influenced the concept of team basetball. It wasn't at all unlike what we are seeing today, 31 years later, with Brandon Roy and the current Blazer team. I can only hope it leads to the same result (minus the Kemper Open).

There are a bunch of other funny videos on that site, including some Blazers-related: a PSA by Clyde Drexler, and the Dairy Queen commercial featuring Mark Bryant bemoaning the fact that DQ didn't make a collector's glass with his image (anybody still have their Blazers DQ glasses from the early 90's?). I think there are a couple other Blazers-related vids up there too.

Contracts...

I am stoked for Roy especially because he probably has earned a fat bonus for getting into the ASG. Which when you have a rookie contract can go a long way.
