Coach Mo Is Back

Good news.  Maurice Lucas is back at practice. Casey with an interview.

Go read it now.  I won't even include an excerpt here so that you are forced to go read the whole thing.  I'm tricky like that.

I just hope

that Greg doesn’t kill him in his first practice back.

GO looks great in that picture...

much more balanced than 5 weeks ago.

He needs a big ol’ helping of some Lucas basketball knowledge.

Welcome back, Maurice.

Also...

I can’t wait (and I mean CAN’T WAIT) for that Katy bar the door day. Oden’s vengeance upon the haters shall be as swift as it shall be merciless!

by BlazersOrBust on Dec 9, 2008 2:57 PM PST reply actions

It will be deemed a state Holiday

Katy Bar the Door Day, for everyone!

I love the quote, but who is Katy? Is that a normal thing to say? A reference to something?

Haters will forget they hated soon enough. They are silly and fickle like that. I do not worry about Oden at all, and he will be right at the top or THE best center in the league.

KATY, STAND READY NEAR THE DOOR. IT WILL SOON NEED TO BE BARRED.

by Mortimer on Dec 9, 2008 3:32 PM PST up reply actions

A barred door killed his father

Greg has been looking for revenge ever since.

Barred doors are the first cousin to basketball rims, which is why Oden dunks so hard.

FATHER! THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED.

That’s what he’ll yell right before he BUSTS through those doors, which were just previously barred by Katy. And she does a pretty good job barring stuff too, so don’t think it was a weak barring of a door job. Cuz it ain’t, she’s the best in the biz. The door barring biz, that is.

We celebrate Katy Bar the Door day on February 3rd, but in Canada they celebrate it on March 17th. Strange, huh?

My 4 yr old son

often wanders about singing to himself “I’ma goin’ fishin, Momma’s goin fishin…”

Gotta brag here, Taj was in Seattle last year, and as he walked onto the stage in a small, funky jazz club here he came through the audience. He passed me and I got to shake his hand. It was a moment all treasure for a very long time.

A thought… does Greg look just a a little like Taj?

Best news of the week so far

Glad to have you back, Mo. Nice to know that he put his time to good use – it can only mean even more progress.

good stuff

i was just yesterday wondering how Mo was doing. good to see he’s back up and getting back into the swing.

Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

I'm wondering

how one can bore oneself to death, when as an assistant coach in the NBA with basketball being your profession, you are in the middle of an NBA season with the technology to watch almost everyone game that is played. Think of how much could be learned with all that idle time, lying in bed. Luke did say he learned a lot but I not sure how soaking in all that knowledge could lead to such extreme boredom.

Although I have no idea what his off work passions and hobbies are, it most have been those parts of his life that were lacking.

Colonel Rondo and his second round armada?

If Boston is determine to rebuild and cut salary isn’t two mid lotto pics and the right salary filler decent. Maybe not enough but better than what most teams get in that situation. I would prefer that over the Chris Paul package.

I hope and figure that the Trail Blazers could have the best of both worlds. I’ve never seen a more bountiful 2nd round. Its conceivable that the team could deal both lotto picks and still find some nice players in the draft. Players like Orlando Johnson, Lucas Nogueira, Kevin Jones, Will Barton are 1st rounders in most drafts even if its just based on hype and potential. Then you have some possible gems in such a deep draft like Machado, a couple guys that I personally like from Georgetown-their center Henry Sims and forward Hollis Tompson. Both high upside players that I would love to watch in the summer league. If PA were to ever buy into or trade into late first or second round now is the time. Give me Freeland, Diebler and four second rounders in the summer league with Rondo coaching.
