Does anyone have a link to KG "crawling" behind Bayless? Having read Dave's description of Garnett's dastardly deed, I really want to see in person.
[I used to really love KG when he was a young underdog in Minny, making the best of a situation that was, at its best, mediocre. Now he's a big bully. I know he suffered many dissapointments as a young player, and I really expected him to be classy once he was on an elite team. For shame.]

You can't see too much
You can see him actually start sneaking up behind Bayless, then actually go down to his hands and knees. Then the camera cuts away and all you see is him from the back, still down there. By the time it picks up again Bayless is dribbling upcourt and Garnett is vertical again. You can hear the announcers talk about it.
I do not believe he came within 3-4 feet of Bayless. I don’t know if he said or vocalized anything. I do know it’s a cheap, classless move to pull on a rookie from a team you’re beating soundly. I do know it was unusual enough for the commentators to be incredulous. I wish we had better film as well.
In any case, though, the proper move is to shut your yap and get your butt back down the court to defend. As I said in the recap, pull that crap back in the day and you had better be some kind of tough guy.

"Maurice Lucas walked past, and said that nobody trash-talked like Garnett during his playing career,
because, “Back then, it was only a $50 fine for punching a guy in the mouth.”" Link
"But we need a center", Inman said. "So play him at center!" Knight yelled back. - Bobby Knight on Michael Jordan prior to the Blazers' 1984 draft pick of Sam Bowie.

He did something similar to Calderon.

I remember the announcer
on ESPN, they said something to the effect of “Garnett just crawled up on Bayless. I’ve never seen anything like it.” The other announcer responded with something along the lines of KG having done it to Calderon, to which guy #1 responded that KG seems to have a thing for point guards…
I just heard the words; my mental image was of KG (“crawled up”) using Bayless’ shorts, jersey, limbs to pull himslef up off the floor after falling down. That was just a fleeting image, and a wee bit surreal to boot. I knew that wasn’t what happend, and with your game recap, things made sense.
I remember last year Joel and Martell (?) had a scuffle during practice. It served as a cathartic/motivating moment for the team, and that scuffle helped jump-starte the 13-game win streak.
Sometimes it takes a negative experience to really light a team’s fire. Maybe this game (which, all in all, is not a big deal) will be that kind of experience.
Either way, I completely agree that it’s time four our guys to start standing up for themselves, and for each other. We’re young, and there won’t be any Sunday brunch omlettes until we break an egg or two (speaking figuratively :)

Taunting?
I guess the league told Toronto they would keep an eye on him. He should get suspended for this game.

He never seems to get T'd up for the stuff he does.
The double standard is terrible. Also, is J-Rex a guy that needs taunting. If anyone was going to tear someones throat out, it’d be Bay.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Someone needs to complain to the league and KG needs to T'd up for that kind of behavior
And I agree with Dave…Garnett needs to suffer a little physical payback.
We need a hitman on this team…a present day Rick Mahorn or Charles Oakley to deliver shots on Garnett all game long.

I can not say half the things I should say about KG
because I would get banned forever, so I will just say this: Classless. How come, when Sheed used to be passionate about basketball, everybody said he was immature, (well the refs T-ed him up a lot, not so with KG) but Garnett gets away with the most obvious, attention grabbing (It always seems to be about the attention with him), taunts and everybody loves the “fire” he plays with? Bayless should have kicked him in the face.

Yes.
and we could take an offering at BE to help him pay the fine. I’d donate.

I'm glad nobody did anyting.
As much as I’d like to see Garnett kick a swift boot to the face, the second a blazer does that, it makes sportscenter’s top story and suddenly we’re back to being the jailblazers.
If you're paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes fit in a doghouse? None! Ice cream has no bones!

This is why I think what this team needs most is not a SF or PG
but a backup PF who can grab, hack, and lay a hit on someone. A tough guy who doesn’t let the Blazers get bullied.
Koponen - PG of the future. For Italy, that is. Book it.

Artest
Could you imagine if he did something like that? Instant T the second he goes on all 4’s. Its BS how the league has double standards. Someone already mentioned that but I just wanted to repeat the thoughts, because I think its so ridiculous! I want to see him pick up Kobe or lebron like that.

Someone will police him if the nba doesn't.
Even if someone fears the nba fine in doing something in response. KG will take years of lashing from other players starting next year when we start to see a substantial drop in ability due to age. At that point he will see the wrath of his past ways, or slip off into retirement because he can’t handle it. I for one hope he doesn’t retire early so I can enjoy the verbal beatings he will receive for years to come.

What is the standard for taunting?
What is the rule against taunting and what is the standard for determining when a technical foul is appropriate? So he got on all fours, I don’t see what the big deal is. He’s just getting himself rev’ed up to play good defense.
Don’t get me wrong, I find Garnett to be quite the jerk, living in some fantasy land of self-importance. But still, how far should the rules be taken to prevent behavior that is not physically harmful to other players? Part of basketball is mental, and rules governing taunting must be extremely hard to clarify and enforce.
Regardless, I think that players should keep their trash talk to the context of the game and not get personal. I’m sure many people disagree. (I know Materazzi disagreed in the last World Cup, and we all saw how Zidane took to that.) But we have to keep in mind that these are all human beings whose interests and psychology extend beyond the hardwood. And many of them are emotionally fragile, like the rest of us, as Big Baby demonstrated.

Am I missing something?
I think that’s kind of awesome…I mean, wouldn’t we all LOVE to see that kind of intensity from ANY of the current Blazers?
If he were taunting Bayless, that would be different, but I don’t think that’s taunting. Remember he was put back in the game at that moment because the Blazers were mounting a little comeback. He was trying to fire up his team as well as send a message that they weren’t about to back down.
I must admit, I am a big KG fan. I can understand why some people think he’s dirty, but I see it as white-hot, molten desire. Bruce Bowen is dirty…KG is passionate.

I don't want to see kids immitating KG's antics. I get why you like him, but keep it verbal
jaw all game, but kids will pick up on the other stuff, and then you’ll start seeing it in rec and AAU games. I just think you need to draw the line when he starts doing stuff like the crawling around. If someone doesn’t think it’s an issue than let the players police themselves. If his antics aren’t a concern than fighting in my mind shouldn’t be either.
