Enjoying this moment
14-6.
14-6.
Sure, we've all heard it, seen it, read it, but have all of us really taken in what's happening?
This team is winning. A lot.
Contrast that to years previous where losing was not only acceptable, it was usually expected. The media, fans, probably even some players and coaches were expecting this team to be mediocre the past few seasons.
That's not to say we were bad fans, or the media was harsh, or anyone was out of line at all. Assumptions like that are perfectly reasonable when a team is rebuilding.
But this year is DIFFERENT. Everything about it FEELS different.
How many times in the past few years have the Blazers notched 30+ point victories? How many times in the past few years have the Blazers beaten SOLID teams like Orlando and Detroit on the road?
Not a lot.
Now I'm not saying we should all jump for joy and expect countless victories and a smooth ride to the ring fitting ceremony in about 6 months.
What I am saying is that we should all be HAPPY. Watching the Blazers has been so much fun for me. I literally pump my fist at every Rudy 3, every Oden dunk, every Sergio lob, every Roy dagger. YES, my hand gets sore. But it's so. much. FUN.
Right now, I think everyone needs to savor this moment. We are ballin' it up. We're leading our division. We have a BOMB diggity bench unit. And we're about to play the (arguably) biggest game of the season thus far.
we may not win, we might get crushed, but the mere fact that EVERYONE watching this game has to respect the Blazers' and their accomplishments thus far says volumes about where this team is and where it's going.
nobody knows if the blazers are going to win 60+ games, squeak into the play offs, or fizzle out (no way!).
but all blazer fans know that this season has been a freaking blast, and it's only just beginning.

Today we spell redemption R O Y.
I have to tell you this has been sweet. I can’t tell you how great it is to get up in to morning and check ESPN.com and not see a member of the Trail Blazers incarcerated or in court. This is a sweet gift for all of those fans that endured the Bob Whitsitt era, that endured multiple losing seasons where it seemed we could not catch a break. Even when we had the worst regular season record we still ended up with the 4th pick. This is for all those fans who probably still feel the lasting affects of ulcers caused by those horrible yet seemingly endless rumors the the Trail Blazers would be sold and re-locate. It has been a real treat. I feel like a kid again. The kid who first fell in love with this team when he was six watching them play the Pistons in the 1990 NBA finals. I think I speak for every one when I say we are not a selfish people. We just want one title during our life time. If there happen to be more then great. But just one for me and my generation that has supported this team through the best of times and the worst of times.
Personally, I think we should focus less on the Championships and more on enjoying the journey
We don’t know when, or if, the Championship will be achieved; and if it is, we do not know if, or for how long, it will be defended. Let’s enjoy the process of watching this fine young team learn to compete. Let’s be proud of the fact that they are good guys, who represent our city well. Let’s enjoy the beautiful style of team basketball they are playing.
My heart will not be broken if they do not get to the promised land. My heart would be broken if they turned into a bunch of egotistical jerks who play selfish ball.

That's true.
A championship is of course fun to talk about and fun to predict, but to expect one (or 10) will probably take away from the fun that we are having and will continue to have.
I grew up with the Clyde/Porter/Kersey blazers. Being a fan was great. The team was great. When we had a chance to contend for a title it was awesome (and bittersweet). Sure there were years there that everybody knew that Portland was one of the elite teams that should be contending, but I can look back without regrets. The fact that we didn’t win it all didn’t make me less of a fan. I’m just hoping for another stretch of years like we had then, and I know it’s already begun.
The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers
Pursuing and achieving are often more fulfilling than possessing.
I remember those 1989-92 years with tremendous fondness. I don’t know if it would have been any sweeter if they had won it all. I know a lot of Boston Red Sox fans who look back with fondness on the years before they ended the curse.
