SI Article about Roy
Did anybody the article on brandon roy on si.com? great stuff, good for roy, and the blazers to get national attention, The guy talks about how roy plays his game so slow, always analyzing and playing like a much older player, the usual stuff. They also talked about brandon's injuries such as the ones he sufferend in college and the constant treatment he goes through every day. I hate hearing about blazer injuries

Roy
If I could compare him to someone, it would be Tim Duncan. In his demeanor and approach to the game. You may even call Roy, The “Little Fundamental” :D

It still bugs me when Roy is said to be one of the most un-athletic players in the league
His athleticism apparent in different ways. Just because somebody doesn’t go up for the in your face slam every time does not mean they are not athletic

Agreed
I still remember when he skied on a fast break in the Rookie/Sophomore game last year. He didn’t get the dunk, but he got way above the rim as well as the defender, Sean Williams from the Nets, who is known for his athleticism and shot-blocking ability.
He definitely picks his moments and makes everything so fluid that it’s not the obvious explosive athleticism. It just melds into the flow of the rest of his movements.

roy dunking
I like when two weeks ago Roy went on a streak of 4 or 5 games with a dunk in each. At first it was just on fast breaks and then he started using it a little bit in the normal 1/2 court offense. They weren’t all that authoritative of course, but it was fun to watch seeing as he hardly ever does it.

He's like Tim Duncan in that regard
Timmy’s athleticism has always been downplayed since he never has to use it and he’s constantly being compared to guys like KG or vomit Stro Swift, but when was the last time you saw any of those “athletic” PFs exploit him, and how many times has Duncan been able to switch out onto the perimeter and D up a wing player?
Maybe neither guy is going to win a decathlon any time soon, but they’re both exceedingly “basketball athletic”, which is what counts. When they change the league into a track and field meet, I’ll take Trout over Brandon, but until then, give me Roy’s athleticism any day of the week.

Money quote from the article...
Roy plays to a rare style admired throughout the league, as if he were the backcourt version of Tim Duncan.

Thats what is tricky about Roy
Everyone always misses the slow to fast elements of his game. Roy lulls you then turns on the afterburners. He can be unstoppable going to the hoop. His game is sometimes like a work of art, but it’s a subtle game for an aesthetic eye.
