Quite possibly the biggest Celtics homer article ever.
The opportunity has passed? Are you kidding me? If anything, Cleveland is stronger, Orlando is stronger, Atlanta is stronger, the Blazers are stronger, and the Lakers are stronger. Meanwhile, the Celtics got rid of their biggest bench spark player in Posey, and are relying on a fairly inconsistant point in Rondo, although he's made some big improvements since last year.
I also think it's funny how he refers to the blazers as a "tomato can", as if we can be just kicked aside. Bulletin board material, anyone?

They are just still unsteady after losing to the Pacers
They beat them so they write this (maybe after returning the pistons the favor, but the pacers?)
Shows how unused to success celtics fans are.

They could very well repeat the Championship
But they gave away their future to get Garnett and Allen. This IS the most prominent “win it now” team in the NBA. It was a good move and you could say it was worth it, but Celtics fans should brace themselves for a few years of mediocrity after that.

After what?
I think they could continue to be amazing for… well not forever, but everyone is talking like KG and Pierce are a few steps away from developing Alzheimer’s. contrary to popular belief KG is still putting up prime-of-his-career numbers. they’re not a young team, but they are not old.
I heart taxes.

Their decline starts
next year or the year after.
They will still probably be contenders for two years after the decline starts, but their peak is now.

You are right, they won't decline as soon as we might hope.
Thanks to their young role guys, I think they could be even about two years better positioned than the Spurs and Suns.
Cassell is out after this season. Allen has two more before he is likely to really decline. Methodical players like KG and Pierce have maybe four more good years. But I think winning it all is pretty much out of the picture after the summer of 2010 if there is any major shift in the East and the West stays the same or better. And there should be one, with either the Cavs, Orlando, or NY/NJ getting significantly better, as well as teams like the Blazers, Utah, Hornets, Lakers in the West. My best guess.

rondo has been really solid
And not inconsistent at all. He has a great relationship with the big 3 and it shows on the court. Last night he had a triple double to boot!

They could.. but...
I don’t think they have really been tested too hard this season. Go over their current schedule. They have played some decent teams but having had a rough schedule yet..

"They pushed past the Pacers last night. Tomorrow night, it'll be Portland with Greg Oden. One tomato can after another."
barf… this makes me want the Blazers to beat them even more. I hope we sweep their overconfidant ***’s this year.

LETS HOMER IT UP!!!
I hope Oden gets a MAN triple double tomorrow night, with 10+ Swats. I hope BRoy has a 30/8/8 game, and I hope Rudy goes 6/6 on Threes. I hope Outlaw posterizes KG so hard that KG starts crying and shaking all uncontrollably, and I hope that, uh, I hope we win?
