Ian Thompson has no memory
Ian Thomspon says: "This might have been the worst official decision I have ever seen at a major sporting event"
He apparently doesn't remember the Suns getting a technical for stepping on to the floor in the playoffs.
Or the Kings getting slammed over and over again with non-existent fouls in the western conference finals.
Colorado's infamous "5th down".
1972 Olympics: enough said.
Or the numerous calls that went against the Blazer's in this game.
It was simply a missed call, like some of the others that happened in this game. Worst official decision in sporting history? You've got to be kidding me.

This had the same impact on the game...
…as any other bad call resulting in a net swing of two points. It was just a little more unusual. That’s all.

"Greg Oden (far left) was one of six Portland players on the court for a crucial basket in the Blazers' win over the Celtics on Tuesday night."
IT WAS IN THE FIRST HALF. How do people blame the Celtics losing to the Blazers (without Roy) on one play in the first half? They even got a tech out if it so it is a one point play. Bunch of damn crybabies.

And
That idiot said twice that it was an Outlaw layup. Way to actually watch the play moron.

Ian is right about the generally poor quality of NBA refereeing
but this play is not the best example of that. – Elgin

Once again I will say
Is there really much a difference between 38-44 and 40-45, especially at the end of the friggin’ first half?
I gotta admit that the decision was questionable. Perhaps just giving both teams another timeout, reseting the clock and pretending the play never happened may have worked better.

If it bothered the Celts so much, it says really really bad things about
how fragile they are.
On the other hand all they had to do was score more then 12 field goals in the entire second half.

yup
but then again, i didn’t hear KG making excuses. It’s media dorks who overhpye things. I didn’t hear KG going, “WORST DECISION SINCE 1945!”
It’s these media dorks who blow things up to get hits on their website and thus make money. It’s stooooo-pid.

What about this one:
The referee saw Kg pulling and elbowing LA but didn´t call until LA had replied slapping KG´s head, so it´s a double T. Obviously he saw what KG had done first because he called a DT and not only LA, so why he didn´t call when that happened FIRST!!!!!!. KG has a free pass to be dirty and that´s a nazi officiating behavior!!!! :)
What can you say now? What can you say now?
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

If LA would have heard the call before I´m sure he hadn´t slapped KG´s head. 2 points are better than that.
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

I hope he would have slapped him anyway.
Then kicked him in the nuts.

Yep,
If that’s the worst official decision Ian has ever seen at a major sporting event then he needs to get out more often. Yes, the refs blew it, but it was heading into halftime, and did not result in a enormous change either in game tempo or on the scoreboard. Bad handling by the refs, a mistake by The Blazers, unfortunate for The Celtics, all true but to rank it as historically the worst official decision ever? No, sorry, not even in that category.

Get over it Celt fans.
Sheesh! They still had the lead at half time. It’s their fault for not beating a team that was minus their star player. The no call on Paul P. traveling at the end of the game for the and one was a pretty good make up call IMO.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
