Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Roy "doubtful" for Celtics game

Oh no this just in from Oregonlive.com

"I'm kind of doubtful,'' Roy said. "It's a little more serious than I thought. It still hurts.''

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2008/12/breaking_news_roy_doubtful_aga.html

On the upside, maybe B-Rex will have some more time up against KG, in a game that was going to be a big uphill battle to begin with.

What implications do you feel this will have on the game? Does it make it completely unwinnable if he is a no go? Or does it allow for out team to build in ways it can't with Roy in there?

Sometimes crazy things happen.

If Roy is out for any extended period of time, we’re screwed… but sometimes one game absences can lead to crazy things… the Blazers will have a completely different offense if Roy doesn’t play… and maybe it’ll work.

One game, not a big deal

Will enjoy watching Bayless (hopefully) get some time.

Injuries make the bench stronger for the playoffs. As long as you make them, that is…

Time for other guys to step up.

It’s a good opportunity for Rudy and Bayless to show what they can do with additional minutes.

by TallTimber on Dec 30, 2008 1:02 PM PST reply actions

It had to happen at some point.

It will give the rest of Roy’s body to rest as well.

I cant wait to see Bayless! I wonder if he will start, and keep Rudy coming off the bench?

Bummed

Got tickets for tonights game so kinda bummed cuz I really wanted to see BRoy play, but hopefully we can find a way to beat the C’s!

That's no good.....

Well, I guess someone else is gonna have to step up and pick up Roy’s points, boards, assists, hustle and leadership for the Blazers……..

I'm almost happy

because Bayless has the opportunity to sock KG in the face now.

by Cablinasian on Dec 30, 2008 1:43 PM PST reply actions

this could be good

well ok no not really, this is crappy at best horrible at worst,

but lets look at the bright side on this: at least we will get to see some Bayless at the 2 and see what he has. If there is anyone who is not scared of the bog bad celtics, it is JB I guess JP is not afraid of them as well so maybe it is just players that have names that start with the latter J.

Bayless will come in and drop 40 and lead the Blazers to a victory: BOOK IT

…maybe not.

If Roy doesn't play

We work very hard to establish LMA and Oden inside. In the long run, that could be a very good thing, even if we lose this game.

not a problem

not a problem in the slightest

just plug Rudy into the starting lineup and bring JBay off the bench

We’re gonna win regardless of who plays

The question we should really ponder is not why al-Zeidi could be so impolite as to throw his shoes at Bush, but why the dozens of other shoes in the room remained on people's feet, why no foot odor ever purifies the air at a White House press conference, why a man who throws his shoes at our president is more popular than our president himself.

Rudy/Rex time

It will be interesting to see how Rudy meshes with the first unit, and hopefully Rex can attack with the 2s. Obviously, any extended injury to B Roy would be a disaster, but if this is only a 1 game thing (please, please, please) it might be good for the team to play without Roy. The offense, especially in the 4th, is totally dependent on Brandon to make things go, this could be a way for the Blazersto start learning how to go without him in case of foul trouble down the stretch (I refuse to consider injury, flat out denial).

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside.
