Another Trade Idea
First off, I'm not a big fan of the idea of trading at all. I don't think we need to make any changes to our team. At least not this year.
After reading SO many different trade ideas (and being disgusted by most of them) I came across a trade that kind of/almost made sense. With a little tweaking, I think I came out with a half decent trade.
Outgoing Players:
Travis Outlaw
Martell Webster
Jerryd Bayless
Channing Frye
Incoming Players:
Joe Johnson
(To see the trade click here)
Depending on what stats Martell, Travis, and Channing rack up, the Hawks would be more or less enthusiastic about the trade. My main concern would be shot distribution. What do you guys think? I'm still not fully behind the idea myself, but I thought I'd throw it out there. :)

I don't think
The Hawks will give up there leader. Would you give up Roy? If we could do this, I would be MORE THEN HAPPY. Beleive me, I loved watching Johnson since college. He is a perfect veteran age (27) he can score from anywhere, can guard the 3 spot at 6’7". Make it happen kp

Issues
Most of the time it doesn’t work to do a 4 for 1.
Other than that I think we’d have issues as Joe wasn’t happy in Phoenix being a 2nd or 3rd fiddle, and that’s exactly what we’d be asking him to do.

Joe Johnson...
is on par with Brandon Roy in the value department. If you want him it’s going to take at least Aldridge and some other assets.

monkeys, keyboards, and a link to the trade machine
Make it inevitable that we’re getting 8 trade posts a day whether we have a designated area for it or not, short of a front page endorsement by Dave, ala the Junk Drawer.
Travis Outlaw is an alien, but in a good way.
Awesome Graphic was provided by CIC, because he felt like he should be hazed.

Good fun
RE: clevelander, I understand some people do not like trade posts’ Fair enough. What i dont get is being judgemental. OK, you think there is a specific area for Trade Posts, cool. There really is no reason to be condisending. I would never discourage anyones opinion and i welcome yours, but please dont be insulting. I personally like trade posts, that is my preference and i dont think i should be judged or talked down to for it. Good luck to your Cavs Clevelander and please take what i’m saying with an open mind. Go Blazers!!!

Everyone has a right to judge everyone
You should be judged.
But you are right that no one should be rude about their judgements on this blog.
Apart from that, I think it would be nice if we could somehow group the trade thoughts into their own area. A daily trade post won’t work because someone new who doesn’t already know about it will post trades here.
Clevelander among roses is totally right that without Ben or Dave’s direct endorsment and help of an option there will be no long term change.
Believer, I do wish you would’ve taken some time to read the other posts and simply given your comments in the other thread already promoting this trade.
However, I’m mostly happy that you are here supporting the Blazers and are interested that everyone should be treated with respect.

Pardon me,
That last comment:

was for Isaac.
Sorry Believer!

Exactly right
People should be judged, and people who are rude and condescending will be judged as immature blowhard donkeys.

No way Atlanta makes this deal
No one except Memphis gives up all-stars for bench players.

Raef's Contract.
Joe Johnson isn’t remotely “on a par with Roy”. Roy has moved up the ladder according to the GM’s and Coaches of other teams, and is pushing his way into the elite player category. Johnson is one step down. At the same time, Johnson would be carefully looked at to determine if he fit our culture. He hasn’t always been satisfied with playing roles on teams, and on the Blazers, that’s what you do. He is a good player – no doubt about it. Whether or not the Blazers “need” Johnson, however, is another issue. As Webster starts to play, our production from that slot will continue to improve. I suspect that the Blazers will wait awhile on a trade of this magnitude.
Keep in mind that no trade will “work” for KP unless it involves Raef’s expiring contract. He’s been very open about that. So, when you work up “trades”, if that’s not a part of it, it’s not likely to happen.

Huh?
Why, why, why would the Hawks ever begin to consider this? He’s a top tier guy. They’re giving him up for bench guys?
Would you trade Roy for Flip Murray, Mo Evans, and Acie Law?
This makes no sense. I think the Blazers should put the same package together and make a godfather offer for D Wade. Or Amare. Or Bosh.
YOU CAN’T GET ALL-STARS FROM WINNING TEAMS UNLESS YOU GIVE THEM AN ALL-STAR BACK. You just can’t get do it. Doesn’t happen.
You want Joe Johnson? Offer LMA. The Hawks would STILL turn it down.

Also
I am in the minority – I generally like trade posts. (If they’re remotely feasible.)
But we should put them in the trade post thread. It’s like smoking at a public restaurant. Sure, you have a right to do it, but no reason to put it in everyone else’s face.

So pretend it’s 1998 and the analogy holds.
