Of all the standings
This is the one that really makes me feel good. Only Boston, LA, and Clevelland ahead of us right now.

You can buy a barrel that won't even be "born" for like twelve years...

… man. Anybody notice Nico Batum playing with the second unit in the second half against the Knicks? Looked like Nate wanted to see him play next to Outlaw before Webster comes back and decisions have to be made about where to put our three small forwards.

When are the Blazers going to lose?
I mean I know they can easily lose to Boston, but I still think they got a game where they poop the bed and get beat by a crap team. Is today the day?
That was last night.
Knicks were just too depleted to actually collect the win.

Agree with the Prezof Death
The last two games were fascinating. In the 1st, the 1st team stepped up and won it, and in the second, the second team bailed out the cold hands of the 1st. So, we won both games, even though last night was the one we should have, could have, didn’t lose. So, we got it out of our system. If tonight both teams come to play – the Wiz’s will wizz.
I think we play much better ball the game after a bad show.
And asside from last nights 4th quarter, it was a bad show, so…….
I’m expecting 1/4 a bad quarter, and 3 3/4ths good quarters…I just hope the 1/4th bad quarter comes in the first half.

Tennis ball or hand grips.
George Foster (Former Red – 52 Hr’s in 77) used to
squeeze a tennis ball all day long. POP ! Get a new one
and start over. Very good for forearm strength.
Hand Grips – put a dime between the handles upon

Just to spice things up, time for a bold (and unlikely) prediction
I think Nic Batum approaches a triple-double in this game. Points, Rebounds & Steals.
Thoughts?
Yes! Yes! In the face!
10+ steals!?!
That is bold, but awesome!
I think I would handicap this bet at...
75-1. 10 steals in a game rarely happens.
by trailblazersfan on Dec 3, 2008 12:51 PM PST up reply actions
I don't know that I really expect him to get 10 steals
But I could see him getting close. I don’t think 6 or 7 is out of the question.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
I just did some checking and..
The last time someone got over 10 steals in a game was in ’99. Additionally, according to http://nbahoopsonline.com/History/Leagues/NBA/moststealsinagame.html 10+ steals has happened 19 times in NBA history as well).
So I’ll readjust my handicap to 1000-1 lol.

I don’t know. I keep trying to look under the covers to figure what KP might actually do, as opposed to what most of us “think” he’ll do once Webster comes back and we move downstream to the trade dead-line. Most of us look at the obvious, but I wonder if KP isn’t playing with his magic sticks, such as the ones he pulled out of the hat with Rudy and Batum. KP’s Ian Flemings version of the “Man with the Golden Gun – I mean Gut”. I think it would be great if he found someone under the radar that turned out to be just one more “steal”.

no, I like it.
The problem lately has been that the only guy who’s broadcasting Blazer games does it in a really low resolution, and he can’t get the sound loud enough. Last night I watched the game at a different link, and it was just like watching tv (except for the Nick homer announcers). Once in a while there’s a better broadcast on Justintv, so I always go there and check, but I’m hoping it’s somewhere else too is all.
Gotta love the turkish play-by-play incident.
I mean, usually, it’s justintv or that “adhe” thingy, which sometimes loads right for me – but not always.
And whatever that last link was for the Knicks game, THAT was a Good Feed.

What is the ceiling?
For this years Blazers team what is their ceiling? Above .500, 1st round playoffs, 2nd round playoffs or Western confrence finals.. Your thoughts
Ceiling?
Let’s assume that making it to the conference finals would mean:
a) Facing the L[xxx]rs there, and not before, and
b) Being able to beat anyone else in the conference in a seven-game series by then.
I’d say best case scenario, that’s doable.
So either that’s our ceiling, or our ceiling is higher.
Could we (at BEST) take La-La in a seven-game western conference finals?
How could I say “no”?
"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." - Ernest Hemingway
the ceiling is the title
we are going to get better and with some luck + injuries to other teams star players ( not that I wish it happens) we have a chance at the title.
I think besides the Lakers and Boston, we have above 35% chance of beating any team in a 7 games series ( no injuries). We’d probably need injuries to be champions.
2nd game in a row i cant watch b/c it starts @ 4..
garbage , simply garbage. I know we are tired, but this is a must win. Seriously I dont wanna go 3 and 2 and have one of the 2 l ‘s b to the wizards, that’s just dumb . Hey at least the L*kers lost last night.

Series notes
The Wizards have won three of the past four meetings in Washington. The Trail Blazers and Wizards are even, 19-19, in games played in Washington since the team moved there in 1974-75.
Player facts:
- Steve Blake played college ball at the University of Maryland before spending his first two NBA seasons with the Wizards. Blake started alongside Washington Wizards guard Juan Dixon in the backcourt on Maryland’s 2002 National Championship team.
- Juan Dixon played two seasons for Portland, averaging 10.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists from 2005-07 before being traded to Toronto.
- Washington guard Antonio Daniels played for the Trail Blazers in 2002-03, averaging 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 67 games.

Ninth
Ninth Circle of Hell, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Divine_Comedy#Ninth_Circle
The Ninth Circle is ringed by classical and Biblical giants. The giants are standing either on, or on a ledge above, the ninth circle of Hell, and are visible from the waist up at the ninth circle of the Malebolge. The giant Antaeus lowers Dante and Virgil into the pit that forms the ninth circle of Hell. (Canto XXXI) Traitors, distinguished from the “merely” fraudulent in that their acts involve betraying one in a special relationship to the betrayer, are frozen in a lake of ice known as Cocytus. Each group of traitors is encased in ice to a different depth, ranging from only the waist down to complete immersion. The circle is divided into four concentric zones.
Not to belabor the obvious, but the giants represent the Blazers, the traitors are the Wizards. Natch, the Wiz are mired in a cold streak.
Yesterday's game promised to be entertaining and wound up being time consuming, with a fortuitous result...
Today’s game promises to be time consuming after yesterday’s patheticism by the Blazers… I reckon we’ll either get a Bulls-style beatdown of the Whizzers or an upset loss…
I’m hungry for another potato mashing…
"Now with a non-provocative footer!"
he deserved the team wasn't preforming nearly as well as they should have been

Surprising. I might have to update my December prediction of .500
Although I have us win one and lose one against Toronto anyway. And as yesterday has shown, we are not immune against giving up a game vs. a bottom team. Such as the Clippers.
Also, I have a hard time imagining who the Raptors and Wizards have in mind that would be better.
Fortunately we are not playing Toronto next.
Teams often get a short bump up in play when the a new coach comes in during the season.
hakkaa päälle !
Would Nate get axed...
if we don’t make the playoffs??? which is impossible but just saying…no sacred cows
If we make the playoffs this year, Nate gets an extension
Then if we are under .500 and miss the playoffs the following year, Nate won’t make it to the first anniversary of signing that extension.
That’s pretty normal in the NBA though, just ask Toronto.

Seems to happen a lot. If the team was underplaying due to unhappiness with the coach, there’s an immediate turnaround.
If the team is underplaying because the GM shouldn’t have acquired Jermaine O’Neal and it’s hurting the team, no coach is going to help.

in this economy…people hire mediocre so they don’t have to pay too much $$$…when we see MBAs with A’s, we toss them aside for spirited, hard working, and Blazer Maniacs…if we see Blazers as a hobby, hired!

i guess if you were an civil engineer and required to build a bridge that is safe, then yeah, people probably don’t want to see a “D” or “incomplete” in your transcript…hahahaha way to make them study Timmay!!!
I interviewed at least a thousand people for a tech company
I sometimes felt like I was TOO experienced in interviewing people. You never realize how exhausting it is to be the interviewer until you do it for years.
College experience and degrees were extremely important where I worked. I’d argue almost overly-important. :)
So keep studying, your results may vary by profession and company.
There are a lot of C engineers out there.
The grade doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I remember my dad hiring guys who got A’s and I ended up having to explain to them how to read electical one-lines and piping diagrams.

Yeah, wanna see that chemistry with Rudy again, it seemed in that preseason game that they had been playing for years
i was at that game
granted it was sacramento w/out their best players, but the crowd was electric, and rudy and sergio feed off that energy. rudy was a virtuoso that night, joel got like 12 rebounds in like 20 min., so fun.

I have a question for you all
I was at a Wal Mart today and there was a bell ringer raising money for the Salvation Army as I entered the store. When I was exiting the store there was a father and daughter literally yelling at the bell ringer for accepting donations from a convicted child molester (I do not know how they knew this) but I was curious if other people think that it is just or is any donation a good donation when it comes to helping people? I think any donation is a good donation……
any donation = good
i hate those salvation army guys though.. I used to pump gas across a parking lot from a safeway and had listen to that annoying bell for 8 hours a day

OT much?
But I think any donation is a good donation in this case. If the molester volunteered to work…might be a little different.

That was a bit of harder catch to foul
but generally I do agree.
On the bright side, Oden’s feet have improved.
Oden has turnover problems...this is probably one of the reasons he doesn't see the ball
Nate absolutely hates turnovers
BINGO, BANGO, BONGO
Yeah 3 TOs by the half is bad.
But then again, Roy has 4. THey’re playing a fast game…
Interesting halftime stats, Wiz 0 FT's, 7-4 offensive rebounding edge
When was the last time someone got more offensive rebounds than us!
Rebounds are all about desire
And it’s noticeable that we didn’t seem to have as much desire tonight. This goes for both Joel and Greg. Oh, and Outlaw. And LMA.
Oden has 7 boards...
Joel barely played…
I'm not complaining that he has 7
He was definitely right around some of the offensive rebounds though.
