Blazers record is the same as last year after 30 games.
18-12 is the record that we had last year at the end of the 13 game winning streak.
And Oden, once again, is a rookie, so non-stop fast break basketball is like fast-forwarding a song while he's trying to learn the lyrics.

Interesting. At the least it means they're, what, more consistent than last year?

Am I the only one here?
I’m catching the game on Tivo because of the Mexican food.
Do you think Bosh will go off tonight?
Toronto doesn’t have a back up point guard. It would be a good night to let Bayless run wild. Insert the Jaws theme here and then have Sergio AND Blake panicking as they desperately swim towards shore as they try to save their minutes.

Shav is good...
There was a nice interview done locally in the Raleigh News & Observer…and on their blog….he’s hanging tight ….staying sharp and patient….he cracks me up though….I keep trying to be an encouragement…He’s got a great perspective ……I haven’t read Quiks blogs…
Shav doesn’t pay attention to anything on the computer…prob not even reading local papers…press always had HUGE expectations and he tuned them out years ago…I’m his link to things alot…Ben had arranged to do an interview with him for the site here…I’m waiting…
But — here are the links… blog interview with Shavlik 12-2008

So far I've been hooked up for 2 games this year
Orlando and this last game against Dallas. Yes, I’ve seen 2 of the 3 home losses. And both of those were just miserable Blazer showings to close the game.
Last year I only saw wins. My luck has turned.
I gotta say the most annoying part was the scattered booing at the end of that Dallas game. Really? That really chapped my hide. I’m not a fan of booing your own team unless they REALLY deserve it, and this was definitely not one of those cases.

Poor communication causes misunderstanding.
Misunderstanding causes fighting.

Well last year before winning streak they were cosistent at loosing
then they went on a wiining streak and that was consistent for 13 games, then they were inconsistent
And Oden, once again, is a rookie, so non-stop fast break basketball is like fast-forwarding a song while he's trying to learn the lyrics.
by RipCity on Dec 27, 2008 7:03 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
to sum it up
Last year in the first 30 games Blazers were consistent. If the were loosing it was in streaks, and visa-versa. The last 52 games were inconsistent.
This year Blazers were inconsistent in the first 30 games. So lets hope the will be consistent in winning, cuz that what will get them in the playoffs.
And Oden, once again, is a rookie, so non-stop fast break basketball is like fast-forwarding a song while he's trying to learn the lyrics.

I HATE THE SNOW!!!
Because it kept Dave from the BedgeFest.
But he couldn’t make it, so he WILL BE MODERATING.
I was kinda counting on his absence from here so we could have smoking and drinking and sex
and rioting in the streets with guns and drugs and hookers and gasoline, baby, GASOLINE! FIRE! FIYYYAAAAHHHHH!!!

Smoking is bad for you.
But the rest of the list looks okay.
Poor grammar is poor communication.
Poor communication causes misunderstanding.
Misunderstanding causes fighting.
Fighting causes war.
War causes death.
Therefore, your poor grammar may just kill us all.

Normal rotation unless (and until) someone shows chronic bad defense.
If so, then we see a JayBay shot at major minutes.
But not if everyone already in the rotation defends soundly.
That’s my guess, at least.

I think the biggest reason is to give Greg some easier competition temporarily
Something to get his confidence back up.
I’m not sure either way. The idea does have some merit.
Quick says Nate spent a half hour with Greg to talk to him about relaxing and not overthinking the game, and to go out and have fun. Maybe that’ll help tonight.

yep
that probably has as much to do with Oden’s foul woes as his personal deficiences. Perimeter players should be funneling them towards Oden or giving Oden the angle for the weakside block, not leaving Oden vulnerable to cheap fouls.

So, I promised a nasty halftime question
Let’s talk about a bad topic.
The coach took the team to task the last two days. Hard practices, heart to heart talks, threats of changes.
The team responded for about 6 game minutes, then lapsed right back into a reduced effort on defense, and more lethargic play.
So here’s the nasty question: Has the team started to tune Nate out?
Serious question. This is typically the point where that question comes up. Even if they come back in the second half.

For one thing
Like RipNation says below the Raptors have been shooting hte lights out. And it’s not necessarily for lack of D. The thing is, when the other team hits shots when you’re playing good D it’s hard to sustain.

Oden is playing
his best game of the year and I’m loving it. Putting their front court in foul trouble and giving us high percentage shots in the paint. When you feed Oden consistently good things happen. Same with LMA. Blazers need to remember they have a post game. Toronto will coll off in the second half and if we keep pounding it in the post we will make a comeback!
