Question for the feminine part of BE
Taking a break from the game - they're driving me crazy with this game of runs. But having to watch Chris Anderson two nights in row makes me want to ask the women/girls present ...
How do you feel about tattoos? Turn on? Turn off? Growing up I only saw them on men like Marines, bikers, that kind of "tough guy". Now they are everywhere (including on my daughter) and I'm pretty broad minded, but some really turn me off. Those include Matt Barnes & Delonte West whose neck tattoos I find revolting. But I think Chris Andersons' are the most repulsive. I don't even know what they are, but from my non-HD view it looks simply like he has algae or fungus or moss or something growing on him. The thought of having an up-close and personal encounter with him makes me rather ill.
How do the rest of you feel? (Men with tats can also weigh in with reactions from the women (past & present) in their lives.)
OK, I will now return to the game. Thank you, TiVo.

Tats = covering up a beautiful piece of skin
Skin is lovely. All of it. To cover with ink it is a detriment.
And Birdman is flat out hideous.
Strangely, I am rather fond of Delonte’s neck tattoos. That dude is odd and innocuous and strangely affable.
Birdman is odd too but not the slightest bit affable. He seems like a coldhearted tweaker who would steal the neighbor girl’s tricycle to raise a few bucks to buy his next fix.
Hope you don’t mind me weighing in Jorga I’m not a chick.

Well, I have a Y chromosome but
I dislike the vast majority of tattoos and most non-ear piercings. IMO, body modification just ruins what was already superb to begin with. If it’s subtle, it’s not that big of a deal, but so many people over do it.
I tend to like discussions on tattoos. I like hearing stories about what other people’s tattoos mean to them. Some good bits of inspiration out there.
"It’s a good ol’ fashioned Rip City beat down!"
He looks like what he is...
an idiot. Some people just don’t conceal the fact that they are idiots, in fact they display it willingly. If I were George Karl, I wouldn’t even put him in the game to save myself the embarrassment.
My brother's Fiancee
bought him another tattoo for Christmas, and they are both incoming college freshmen, not tacky or trashy people.
It really depends on the age, background, and subjective preferences of various girls. I have 4 sisters and I am married and have a lot of female friends. I find that if the tattoo is well done and the guy is attractive, girls are all “Oh, tattoo, swoon” Conversely, if the guy is unattractive, the tattoo isn’t gonna make it any better.
I’ve never heard a girl say anything along the lines of “Oh, he’s nice, but he has that tattoo…”
Besides, getting a tattoo should be something you do for yourself, not because girls will or will not like it.

Jorga is a woman
(and a grandma) so I don’t know what he you are talking about.
Birdman is fugly, probably the most hideous thing in the NBA since Dennis Rodman hang up the sneakers. And he’s had his problems, certainly… but dude can ball decently.
Both my wife and I are tattoo-free, and like it that way. :)

The Birdman = an insult to birds
But his tats are only part of the problem. He’s just not a good looking fella, period. Seems like he’s decided that ugly is his thang, and he’s seeing how far he can push it.
As for tattoos in general, they’re so ubiquitous that I don’t even notice them much anymore. They’re like shoes or sweaters— some are ugly, some are not.

how many women have posted? lol jorga..trust he is nasty looking
The tats aren’t even good no rythm no fluidity its like an ink machine. Barfed on his body and he poured salt on it 2 make it stay. The hair is what reeally gets me. Only one man ON THE PLANET can pull that due off and his hottness is named Christiano Rinaldo who I think is Gay but still he is the most sttractive human male I’ve seen and even hotter than batum (I don’t have a problem w his bein gay mind u except it poses a problem for me :) lol) anyway yeah andersons tats r nasty and he wears fingernail polish and has ugly hair and no eyebrows and he’s clealy tryin2 b. A hardcore heroin sheek punk rocker who actually plays nba basketball makes millions and most likely sucks at the rock music. I’m bein presumptious now but he strikes me as a poser and that is equally as disguisting as his nocongruous tatoos…

Christiano Ronaldo
is not gay, he’s been filmed with and by call-gilrs who found him too greedy…
What he is though is one of the stupidest and classless players to put a foot on a soccer ground. Despite being so talented, he’s a cheater and a big-time flopper, even by soccer standards.
Yea it matters not
b/c he plays for Manchester United and they are like the Lakers except worse. As a former defender im not down w/ his flash and flop style either but honestly hes talented, let’s not pretend he isn’t. Also, I still contend he’s gay regardless of how many women he has had sex (on or of tape , word is he is a total [explitive] ) with.
At the end of the day , he is hot. Literally the most beautiful human male I have seen. Everything else I dont care about.

I enter into evidence exibit A:

Tastes and colours
can’t be debated…
I’m not attracted to men, but in the bimbo/poseur type I actually prefer the likes of Chris Cornell, Dave Navarro or Lenny Kravitz. Oh, yes, they’re not pro athletes…
I said he was talented, probably one of the or the most talented soccer player of the moment….
All that is still shadowed by his total jerkery, lack of humility. He’s a sort of worse KG who looks at himself in the mirror too much.
On a side note, I’d like gay athletes to come out more oftenly, I think it would help the fight against homophobia and open a bit the minds of sports fans. Big ups to M.Amaechi !!!
BOO Ronaldo!!!!!
BOO Manchester United!!!!!! ( The Lakers / Yankees of English Premier League ) Go Tottenham hotspur Spurs!!!!

I suppose, if anyone, man or woman, wants to do that to their body, it's their business.
It certainly isn’t attractive to me, or, I expect, most women. One or two tattoos isn’t repulsive in most cases but when I see anyone who has inflicted that kind of extensive and painful scarification on their own body, willingly, I suspect they have serious problems in several areas. I wouldn’t want much to do with them, probably.

Have you seen actual scarification?
the scarring people do in leu of tattoos? the cutting/burning of the image into the flesh… I find that pretty revolting myself, but to each their own.

Some tatoos if they are the right shape in the right place are ok
but when you get a bunch of them or they are colored ink I think it looks bad. I wonder what guys like K-mart or AI who are covered in tats will look like when they are older.

I have 3 tattoos
They all can be hidden by long pants and a short sleeve shirt. I like tattoos that are discreet.

I have 5 tattoos
I love em. My fiance has 6, she loves em. But I wear a suit and tie to work. So they never show. I am not a fan of the sleeve movement but to each their own. Neck tattoos are absurd.
And on women, I like my tattoos small and sexy. No complaints there.
Also Birdman looks like trash, is a known tweaker, and well, his tattoos like jailhouse style.
One thing I always wondered. I am not rich, I am not poor either, but my job affords me lower to mid-middle class status. My tattoos are professional and look like art work. I pay for them to be so and its not cheap. Why do most NBA players tattoos look like jailhouse tats? They have TONS of money, so its obviously not a reason to go with a lesser artist? Is it the I am gonna let my friend do it? Very rarely do I see an NBA player tattoo and say, damn thats a nice tat. RARELY.

It's a great day
to see posts from you and Roseburgian in the same thread.
I was sure that Hurricane Ike had washed you away. Other than that, Mr. Lincoln, how is Houston?
I guess I prefer restraint
in both tats and piercings. I have friends with gazillions of both, but I don’t find excess attractive. Personally, I have no tattoos, as pain is not my friend; and (in my misspent youth) I had to get on the outside of a large quantity of tequila to get my ears pierced. Once. Note to impressionable youth: Don’t try this at home.
You're still here!
I’ve missed seeing your comments. Enjoyed meeting you at last year’s BE gathering – are you coming up for Saturday’s?
Hi Jorga
I’ve only been able to do a bit of drive-by lurking for a while. I will miss the game Saturday. That’s okay; you guys have had some vile weather lately. I was gifted with fabulous tickets to the Sacto game last week and couldn’t get there from here (resulting in much gnashing of teeth and breast beating). Maybe next time. Enjoy and have a fine holiday.

Girl friend here
says it depends but tats are generally an on. Full sleeves are a definite an off.
