This Comcast Propaganda Has Got To Stop
They have been showing that "we hate DirectTV/Dish and you should too" commercials, and they're just ridiculous. The bigger guys clearly aren't trying to avoid carrying Blazer games... it's definitely worth money to them. The only possible scenario where they wouldn't take it, is if Comcast was pricing it out of profitibility, and with all the other stuff that Comcast has been doing recently, it doesn't seem far fetched at all.
What in the world is Comcast trying to accomplish with their brainwashing campaign? Do they really think the big guys are going to suddenly make a bad business decision just because Comcast has been lying to their customers?

Uh.
Don’t you realize there are people who have NO way to access comcast sportsnet? In many places in Oregon, there are fans who have no choice to add comcast sportsnet.
People want to watch the Blazers and have no way to watch them.

I don't get your post.
Stop whining
Deal with it.
Not really what someone who is very very frustrated with Comcast wants to hear. There are a lot of your Blazersedge peers here who fall into the category Cablinasian describes below and I’m one of them. My first draft of this comment wasn’t very nice, but you are a longtime contributor here so I deleted them.

I have Comcast...
I wasn’t complaining about not having comcast, I was complaining about Comcast being a giant [beep] about everything, lying, playing dirty, and not caring about the customer at all.
And you’ll never make me feel sorry about looking out for the customer… (myself…) companies are supposed to look out for themselves, but I’m supposed to look out for me… customers are SUPPOSED to get pissed when companies screw them.

Semi-monopolistic capitalists are always giant [beeps]. I don’t know if you were old enough to remember Ma Bell, but they were to phone what Comcast is to cable (at least where Comcast has a presence).

Wow, that _is_ bad.
It looks like they’re trying to save money on their recompression codec by using the cheapest one they could find. Their “HD” doesn’t look any better than SD to me.

Good call there
That’s one bit of whining I love to join in on. Sometimes Blazer broadcasts look like they’re coming from the moon. It’s disgustingly bad.
And by the stop whining comment, I mean that towards the people who are too stubborn to drop their dish service for a service that has CSN if its available.

I've broken down and have Comcast
I’m on one of the rebuilt systems. The HDTV is still mediocre. apparently we need room for Fox News HD and Fox Business HD, and of course E! HD. What would we do without those.
Bad news is that I’ve been hearing rumors that Dish/Direct are compressing their signals more too now. And DirecTV is raising their prices in the new year.

I have comcast at home
but bars are hit and miss, and it sucks to go someplace, get settled, then find out the game isn’t able to be shown there. Also really lame that, in a one-team town, you can’t see the game everywhere you go. That’s my beef with comcast (and their Drexler-era reception on HD screens).

I still can't believe there is no deal
I’m shocked both Dish Network and DirectTV don’t have deals to carry this yet. If one of them had broke down I’d be more likely to pin the blame elsewhere but that neither can come to terms with Comcast makes me wonder how outrageous comcast is being.

Nauseating to the 10th degree
I signed up years ago before the Comcast/PTB issue. I was happy I did last year when PTB games came thru Comcast only.
Then this year they started showing these commercials where Roy does that all-star drive switching to the left and the screen goes all snowy so you can’t see the finish, and they say "what, you don’t have SuckCast". It was sickening, totally discusting. I feel for you guys.
If I knew everyone else would follow suit I would seriously consider canceling my subscription to put pressure on them.

They’ve also never offered anything
No freebies, no nothing, no free HBO during Christmas, nothing but higher rates. It also would have been nice if they put their sports channel (037) in the HD section – but noooo.
On another note: they offer every new movie in 4:3 format for a couple months before releasing it in HD, trying to get you to purchase it twice. Not that I want to digress…just sayin’ how they are.

Uh, what "definition"?
HD just means that you get higher resolution than SD. It doesn’t make any claim about bandwidth. Of course, super-compressed HD is turrible for sports.

Does anybody really know....
What the offers from Comcast to the Dish companies have been? Does this differ from other offers to other providers that have signed up? What kind of profit would be Dish be looking at if it accepted the latest offer? What is the true value of the Blazer deal?
These are just a few of the many, many questions I would be interested in knowing before I cried foul on Comcast. The fact that many other providers can afford to buy the service makes me wonder why they can afford it (Or afford the loss if it is a bad contract) and Dish can not.
There are so many possible reasons this deal is not going down.

Charter Cable hasn't even reached an agreement yet!
Paul Allen owns Charter. You think Comcast is offering a fair deal? Apparently one of the major sticking points is that Comcast is demanding that the channel be carried on a tier that makes them more money, but costs all customers, even if they are not interested. This would necessitate raising basic rates. Would you be raising rates in this financial market?

That is untrue
BendBroadBand recently added CSN to their preferred digital package only and said it would increase the price $2 per customer with that package (which is $48/month), but they haven’t raised the price yet. It had no effect on customers with the basic package.

You often leave a similar post when this topic comes up. What’s your deal? Why does it bother you so much that people are upset they can’t get the only channel that completely covers the Blazers?

so...
why would all the other cable companies be willing to pay for it?
kinda reminds me of little credit unions vs large retail banks
the credit unions look after their customers….banks look after their bottom line.
the blazers, comcast, charter, and the satellites are just looking after their own pocketbook. they are all in the same boat if you ask me.

is 2 bucks a month really all that much tho?
i’m sure if the nba removed their blackout radius and EVERYONE was allowed to purchase league pass, people would still be complaining. 24 bucks a year is much cheaper than league pass either way.
just 1 less starbucks a month, a drink at a restaurant, or a run to taco bell. 24 bucks a year for 82 games at 3 hours a game is pretty cheap entertainment.

If I could buy League Pass and watch the Blazers games
I would prefer to do that… It would give me an excuse to have the league pass.
The 2 bucks isn’t too much for me, but it’s probably less than 20% of the Dish/Direct/Charter customers who care about CSNNW.

All channels are carried in some specific tier
so some customers of any particular tier may pay for channels they may not want. CSN is no different than any other cable channel in the respect. In the case of BendBroadBand CSN was added to its preferred digital package only and they said it would increase the price $2 per customer with that package (which is $48/month), but they haven’t raised the price yet. It had no effect on customers with the basic package.
So what are the ridiculous demands that Comcast is making that all of the cable companies except Charter have agreed to for their customers? Even Verizon, Comcast’s direct competitor carries CSN. Exactly what has DirecTV, Dish, and Charter offered that you are so sure is a fair price to cover Comcast’s costs and make a fair profit?
