Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Carmelo is OUT

Interesting news...

http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_11288977

We should be division leaders by tomorrow morning...

Hopefully we can punish them during this tough stretch and grab the division lead.

I also cannot stress enough that we have 4      FOUR     IV games left against OK Thunder-Sonics,,,,  let the feast begin.  We also have some tasty feasts left against Charlotte, Minny, Milwaukee, that second half looks mighty good right about now.

Thanks Stern!!!!!  Your schedule favoritism is backfiring this year for sure......

very dissapointing, cant feel good if we win ,and wont know how we play against them full strength for the playoffs.

any time we get a win

I feel good about it. Making the playoffs is about Wins, not about whether the teams you beat were at full strength.

I almost want to ask "What planet are you from?"

I know I will have no problem whatsoever feeling good about a win, no matter who plays for either team. Remember, no style points, no asterisks or footnotes in the standings. Just wins and losses.

Overall this has to be good news. I think Portland has to watch for a bump in effort from the Denver players, as they try to compensate for Anthony being out. However it will be tough to do that against the same team twice in back to back games.

I'm always pulling for LBJ to repeatedly get traded for expiring contracts

…conveniently in time for us to play against him for every game in our schedule. Now that’s a true litmus test of strength. /s

nuggets may be on fire tonight, having some extra motivation, and we might show up and shoot like the temp. outside right now

okay, forget dave's call for needing to win at least one of these games

we gotta take both of these. sorry to add pressure to our guys but c’mon. I wouldn’t expect the blazers to win if broy was sitting out.

The Blazers as a whole are far more like my wife than like me in the sense of their physicality on defense.

This Might Be Bad

Carmelo has been struggling, only 24 pts in the last two games. They will start JR Smith in his place. Smith usually has a field day against us because of Travis’s lack of defense.

yes but

he is usually their spark off the bench now who do they go to?

I first read this post as "Camel Toe is Out"

I think it all depends on the toe. This sounds like a trap game to me though. Blazers be careful.

Yes

Before, it was a “tough” game, now it is a “trap” game. Odds are still high that we split, but if we can get them in this one, it will be tough for them to come back, short-handed, the next night. Hope we can get out and run some on these guys, and hope the bench plays well, that will really wear them down.

Klieza is the wildcard

If we can keep him under wraps and Smith doesn’t go off, we should have a good chance to sweep. But easier said than done.

This is NOT good news, especially for tonight’s game… all of our defensive alignments will be messed up, and Denver is plenty deep enough at forward to compensate for him missing a few games.

I'm pretty sure most of us would say that if Roy was out

that we would lose these 2 games. But a lot of people don’t see it the same way for Denver.

Time to break it down:

Denver is even more vulnerable to fatigue over these 2 games because their roster is extremely thin now.
Denver only has one go to guy now, Billups. It’s a whole lot easier to play defense when the opposing team’s best scorer and biggest mismatch is out.
This is an extension of the last point, but Batum should have a lot better game now that he doesn’t have to defend Carmelo. He should be able to be a lot more active with help defense.
Denver will have significantly reduced firepower in both units.

I don’t think a small adjustment in game plan is going to throw off our defense. It’s going to take a big game from an unexpected source on the Nuggets for them to win.

We must come out an attack

This will not be an easy game we have to win both now in order two jump ahead of them in the standings

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
