2010 THE NEXT GENERATION
2010.....what do we do about 2010? I keep hearing that this team needs a proven veteran to get from the free agent class of this year or next......ask yourself a few questions:
#1. How is a free agent going to help this team?
#2. Is that free agent going to defer to Brandon for leadership of this team?
#3. What kind of player are we going to get out of free agency that will not only fit in but accept the role of limited minutes of an already deep, established rotation and bench? (I state it that way because I believe that the starting five that we have now is going to be that way for the next decade)
#4. Who is out there that fits our needs?
#5. Are we going to go after a Lebron type player? (Because if we do consider it all over if it isn't already)
#6. If it is going to be a sign and trade who goes and who stays....will this player deplete our talent pool?
#7. How are our players going to react to the incoming star or veteran?
#8. Will this help us win a championship?
#9. Will this player disturb our chemistry or help it?
#10. Is this player a quick fix or a long term answer?
How do we address these questions that KP has to face on a daily basis?

Questions
#1. Starting at either the PG or SF position for large amounts of time, something we don’t have now. Hopefully with championship experience.
#2. I trust KP to find a player who won’t do that.
#3. If we spend large money in FA it is likely someone who will be playing 25-30 for at least 3 years, depending on the contract.
#4. SF: Gerald Wallace, Caron Butler, Tayshaun Prince & Luol Deng. PG: Allen Iverson(potential lockerroom cancer), Baron Davis(potential lockerroom cancer),
#5. Maybe?
#6. Sign & trade will be only in the event of a player like LeBron or Wade
#7. Trust KP to sign a player who won’t be counter productive to chemistry
#8. Again.. Got to have trust KP will scout the right player
#9. See 7 & 8
#10. Depends on his age & if KP wants full fledged veteran (6+ years in the league, 27+ years of age, Yes I did just develop an exact veteran criteria) or not.
I hope this helps :)

as far
as FA who can garner greater than the MLE, it is just the 09’ crop and not 10. We will not be players in the 2010 market
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

Exactly.
The reason is that we need to resign some of our central players

IMO it’s too early to tell what this team really needs. As the season progresses, we will see what our deficiencies really are. And it may just turn out, that we don’t have many needs after all. We will more than likely, be investing our cap space, into our current roster.

Team needs vs. team wants
I don’t see any glaring holes on this team. We have a deep solid rotation. Statistically there aren’t any places where we are really lacking. The few gaps we have can mostly be corrected by coaching and practice.(Finishing off the breaks, post moves for Oden etc…)
So what do we want? The few things I would want to add to the roster.
1. A player other than Roy that can drive to the basket get contact and the shot off. (This is probably Bayless but he isn’t getting time yet.)
2. A pounder at power forward to d-up if a 4 starts abusing us. (This could be Ike but he would be getting minutes if he were the man)
3. A guard that can play lock down D(Although Blake and Sergio have been looking good enough to handle most of the guards in the league this season)
4. A veteran whose been to the playoffs and can calm the team down on the second unit so they can keep from making dumb mistakes(Fernandez is like that but I’m not sure if he’s the leader of that unit)
So if I were to trade I would probably trade for a 28-32 year-old power forward whose played on playoff teams and is ready to have a “reduced” roll(<20 mins. per night). If only Buck Williams were 20 years younger.

Why do we need someone who will defer to Brandon?
I really am starting to hate the sentiment that Brandon has to be the number one guy. Brandon has said that he like the ability to run the ball, but he has never said that he wants to be the best guy on the team. if we got Lebron, Brandon would defer to him, AND IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! I can’t see too many players who would garner that type of role, but it would be ok if one came.
I heart taxes.

I rely think there is no need for all this trade talk. If we can toss RLEC for a draft pick or a bench player I am happy. Open up cap space to resign the guys we have. They complement each other extremely well. Do we need a superstar to get us rings? Maybe, or we can wait 2-3 years with those we have. Which of our players are going to get worse over that span? Blake is 28, and Zilla is 29. Thats old in Blazer years but I don’t think they will drop off in the next 2-3 years, and everyone else will just get better. If we can be tied for 2nd in the conference after this tough start to a season with the YOUNG team we have, then let it grow.
Why trade a deep bench for one superstar who could get hurt, a single player can’t win titles, you need depth.
