I was going to title this a dark lining to a beautiful silver cloud. Everyone is basking in the glow of one of the great Blazer games of the season, perhaps of all time. But I noticed the coverage in the paper and I have to wonder if it isn't a little bit of a bummer for Bobby Gross. It was suppose to be his night and today of course all anyone remembers is 52 pts and Brandon Roy. Oh well, Gross was a selfless player and at least his jersey retirement will always be remembered, just unfortunately it will be first remembered as the Night Brandon Roy scored 52pts.

His retirement wasn't on TNT, so much fewer people saw it

Sure...
and I am 1/2 kidding. Bobby Gross kind of like Brandon Roy was a humble team first type of player. Maybe it’s a kick for Gross that Brandon had such a great game. Just noticed that in local coverage today, its like BRANDON SCORES 52 IN HISTORIC PERFORMANCE! 8 paragraph article to follow. While there is a -ps. bobby gross gets jersey retired. 20 sentence article.
But again from what I remember about Gross and what I’ve read and heard, perhaps that is just perfect. He can say his Jersey Retirement was a historic night in Blazer History.

I think its a perfect scenario
Gross retired on the night Brandon has 52, who will ever forget this night? And Gross will always be connected to it, as will Terry Porter.

Who is Bobby Gross?
Here is what I know, he was on the Blazers and his number was retired. I have never seen him play, know nothing else about him, and like Norkstroll pointed out, TNT didn’t show the retirement ceremony. No one wrote an “Honor Bobby Gross” FanPost either. I’ll have to take the same stance on Terry Porter and just be happy for the guy and his fans that his number was retired.
