12/19/08 Junk Drawers/Quiet 52 Edition
I was at the Rose Garden tonight and I knew Brandon was having a game. I just didn't know he would have Thee game of his young career.
My lady points up at the score board. It's still the third quarter and Brandon Roy has 35 points. As some of you might of have heard he went on to score 52 points in our victory over Shaq-Fuul and the Suns. It was the most points I have ever been able to witness scored live, and it was by far the Quietest 52 points ever. I can only recall a few plays where Mr. Roy did so much as a fist pump. So, can you recall some player scoring so many points with this little of hoopla? I don't think so.
Back to the junk.
So I got my first present to put under my tree today. I want to open it so bad, but I won't the wait only helps to build the excitement. It feels like those old tins with bandaids in them.
I went to Winco late last night and stocked up on supplies assuming I would wake up with 3 inches of snow on the ground and have had work canceled. Neither came true. Oh how I hate thee weather man.
s/ We were going to do a gift exchange at work till my looser boss suggested we donate to charity. Now I don't get my worthless white elephant I have always wanted.
My mom brought me lunch today. I love my mom. I'm not trading her for anything. What are you getting your mom for Christmas?
Oh, and Didn't Dave mention he wanted the junk drawer to become the trade drawer? So talk trades if you want, I can't think of any good one's. Wait...
The Spanish Triple Armada!?I WANT JOSE CALDERON! I am willing to trade, Blaze the Trailcat, and I'll toss in a free headband.

It may not be the quietest 50 ever
but until I pulled up the list of 50 point games from 1990 until today I didn’t realize that Antwain Jamison scored 51 points in back to back games in the 2000 season.

I'm going Rec crazy, but you deserve it, that site is fun to look at
I was looking for old Blazers.
I remember the game Damon scored 54 back in Jan of 05. But in a loss.
I couldn’t help but remember back to tonight, when I noticed Brandon’s point total was creeping closer to the half century mark, I got nervous.
I was impatient, but I didn’t want to wait in vain.
And I must retire, good night gents and ladies.

Red: Kelso, rabbits don't..............how the hell did a rabbit get up a tree?
Kelso: uhhhhhh Eric threw it up there.
Red: Eric threw a rabbit up a tree?

Poor communication causes misunderstanding.
Misunderstanding causes fighting.

RANT WARNING:
So …
Brandon Roy leads all scorers with 21 at the half, but when Reggie Miller and the dumb-dumb twins pitch it back to “The boys in New York,” Charles “Lump of Clay” Barkley and the Lifeless Nit-Whits, all they can talk about is Shaq and how he’s thumping Greg, who made a few rookie mistakes, but otherwise played well (in a limited capacity).
This is what is wrong with the NBA: It is an aristocracy, not a meritocracy.
Nic Batum is there because of merit. Diagu got minutes tonight, I’m guessing, because of merit. BRANDON ROY should be in the top three for All-star voting for guards because of Merit.
wait wait … : “But Y5k, Portland is a small market and people only vote for players they know …”
Then why doesn’t Marve Albert and Lump of Clay let people know?
BAAAAHHH!

I don't find that suprising at all
Back in 2002, The Sports Guy visited the TNT set. It seemed quite clear for the article that they don’t really watch the whole game. From the article:
Barkley carries on like this for the next 20 minutes, riffing on everyone and everything, playing off everyone else in the room, having a grand old time, pretty much ignoring the second quarter of the Pistons-Celtics game.

You’re lucky to have your mom still BlazerManiacAndy. I don’t have mine. She died 8 years ago at age 50 after a 10 year battle with cancer. 150 people at ther funeral so she was well liked. I miss her and wouldn’t trade her either. I have a stepmom but I am not close to her ( don’t hate, but not the same ). I got her some coffee. Starbucks Christmas blend as she likes coffee.

Canadian Blazer Fan, What's your opinion on Canada getting an NFL team?
I have been a bigger fan of the NFL then I am this year. Perhaps if we had a team in Portland I would pay more attention. I only have one passion, and it is your home team here in the Rose City.
In regards to you mother, My condolences. I am truly lucky to have a mother at all. But what about your father? Surely you have one of them. I do not. It’s all perspective my friend. I take it from the fact that you said you have a step-mom that your father remarried. My condolences again. My mother went through a second marriage and after a 10 year struggle at being loveless and just content she is single again and back on the market. Hint hint all you elderly (you know, above 45) BEders who want to date a former gymnast and sun-bather let me know. Cause if I had one wish it would be that my mom wouldn’t have to spend the rest of her years single and alone. Sure, she has her 3 sons. But it’s not the same as having a husband.
Once again CanadianBlazerFan, I wish you had your mother around to spend time with during these holidays, but perhaps, as a very small consolation, you have me. And the thousands of good friends you have here on Blazers Edge.
Happy Holidays.
P.S. Did you get me that new bike I wanted?

Thank you. And the opinion.
Thanks BlazermaniacAndy for your nice response. It is definetly one of the best ones I have gotten on here and on the other blog sites I go to. It would be nice if Portland had an NFL team. An I 5 rivalry with Seattle. I think it would be good. As for Canada getting an NFL team, that idea hasn’t gone over well so far here. Many are against it, as we have our own Canadian Football League here, and some feel the NFL would kill that league. It isn’t a bad league, as many NFLers got their start in the CFL. Warren Moon, NFL hall of famer got his start in the CFL. I am not against to the NFL having a team here, as long as it doesn’t kill the CFL. I appreciate your concern about my mom. You are definetly lucky to have your mom. Yes I do have my dad, and it is unfortunate that you don’t, as by that you can relate to not having both parents. You are right it is perspective, and my dad did remarry. I’m sorry to hear of your mom’s 10 year struggle. I hope she finds someone good for her. 3 sons is great, but a husband who is good to her and her kids would definetly be great.

Again many thanks for your condolences. It is hard not having both parents, as I am sure you can relate. I wish I had my mom around too. But she always told me not to dwell on what might have been. I have to move on. It may be small consolation, but I have you, and many good friends here on Blazers Edge. I am very fortunate. Blazers Edgers on Blazers Edge. The best people on the best blog site. Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and all Blazers Edgers. I tried to get the bike for you, but the crowds at the mall were insane. I’ll head down and try again.

Alas I was trying to play Joe the Plumber and fix this fiasco of a leak my roommate bestowed upon me I found out I needed a release. Perhaps a basketball forum to perfect my literary art.
Back to the matter at hand.
After 4 hours re-plumbing my shower, a few trips to the depot, and more then a few adult beverages, multiple attempts at re-lighting the pilot on my hot water hear, and more said beverages, I am finallyabout to take a hot shower. The first at my house in the last three days since this plumbing crash of economic proportions set me back to the stone age.
So Outlaw is, I am going to the party at the guys house we met Opening night at McFadden’s tomorrow. I don’t know if I should be doing this, but I am inviting you along. You, and every BEdger on here who wants to come. I mean, come on people, these guys have a Blazers Pinwheel Beer Pong Table.
