It would be the kind of confidence-boosting win that you'd hope would have a carry-over effect as we deal with nothing but solid teams for the next two weeks. Or, It could be the kind of loss where you force yourself not to read Shaq's postgame comments.
Phoenix Stan the Man is on the record as saying...
Nothing about the Blazers have convinced me that they are ready to beat the Suns and now with our newly energized team I think that's even more true.
Prove him wrong, Blazers! Please?

yay!!! seriously though, this ought to be a good game. The Blazers can wins this game, but could also very easily lose it.
I think it comes down to how well we compete with them in the post and whether or not our 3’s are falling

i’d be in the 300s but i got some resale tickets for discount and decided to splurge. the last game i went to because of TNT’s exclusive broadcasting was the rockets game; let’s hope this one is as exciting! see you there ( i’m tall, with short dark hair, wearing mostly all black and with an keaunu reaves-esque unkempt beard, no one else in portland looks like that :-)

I just ran out to my car cause its 6:20 and I thought I was going to be late. Then checked my ticket and saw the 7:30 start time. Damn national tv games.

For some reason...
the Suns just make me nervous, I just never feel like the Blazers match up well against the Suns but hopefully I will be proven wrong. Another reason that I think this win is going to be tough is the fact that TP just got his jersey retired on Tuesday and he doesn’t want to lose. But this would be a big win for us.
Blazers don't need motivation

He’s a very athletic, overpaid, super role player. Plays defense, slashes to the bucket on offense, 3 point percentage in the low thirties.

Phoenix is a strong candidate to finish 9th in the “big 9” out west. Losing 3 straight to them, 1 at home, would not be a good sign for our playoff chances. I’m on record as saying we’ll finish between 4th-6th out West, and a win tonight would be a step towards making that a possibility. Big game.

Suns 6-8 from deep so far. Reminds me of the Magic game when they went better than 50% on something like 26 attempts. Why can’t they just miss 3s like normal teams do? Or do other teams just actually cover the deep shot.

Now he will not foul out and only gets to play 12 minutes. Coaches get too worried about 3 fouls in the first half. If he fouls out, it is no worse than sitting him with 3 fouls.

Geez, the Nate bashing in here is ridiculous.
Does this annoy anyone else? News flash: there’s nothing Nate could do that wouldn’t elicit objections from the fans. Every coach, even the best, are questioned after the fact. Hindsight is 20/20.
Sometimes I scratch my head at some of the decisions Nate makes
But then I don’t assume I know better. This place turns into a pick-on-Nate party.

If I had to guess
I would guess that Nate wanted to slow Nash down in the backcourt or force the ball into another player’s hands. OF COURSE what happened isn’t the way Nate drew it up. It looks like he had one thing in mind, but Batum didn’t cut off the pass to Nash so it broke down. I guess playing rookies is one way to make a coach look bad.

My beef is with his defensive man scheme and decisions to go to Zone. Everytime the other team kills the Blazers on 3’s.

For everything he gets right (and keep in mind, that’s a fair amount considering the success we’ve had compared to expectations), there are going to be things that don’t go right. Well, let’s just ignore the good things and harp on the bad.
