Monday Trading Post
I hate trade proposals, generally. But I have found the perfect trade proposal. To understand it, you have to read this link.
I propose that we trade timbo to Sactown Royalty straight across for Section214.
Salary matching is not a problem, and both seem equally depressed. Timbo, living in Corvallis, is already a fifth of the way to Sacramento, and he talks like he could use a fifth.
Serious analysis of this trade, or your own trade proposals for today, welcomed here.

Bring in an old Seattle crony to dribble the ball up the court and hand off to Brandon
He can create his own shot better than Blake and can’t be any worse on defense and it late game foul shooting.
I can’t get the link thing to work, so here:

4 years left on Terry's deal
That’s a lot of time/cap space. But some of the skills he brings to the table (shooting, defense, ability to play off the ball when Brandon wants to run the offense) really appeal to me. Hmmm….

I'd rather
Trade for a SF. That leaves us with a massive hole at the 3.
I know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Not my cup of tea
Wallace can play, but the price is steep and Mohammed’s contract/the fact that Barbosa can’t run the point effectively and essentially duplicates what we have in Rudy (although Rudy’s better) doesn’t make it add up for me

pass
I’ve actually put a lot of thought into acquiring Crash as well. I love his play. I like his rebounds and hustle.
But he’s in his 3rd straight year of a steep decline in PER (21.32 to 19.83 to 17.66 to 16.85) and just counting his last five years in Charlotte he’s played only an average of 64.75 games per year; never more than 72.
And while he clearly has passed his peak now when only 27, he’s scheduled to make $11.5 million in 2013.
He’s just too costly for what he gives.
As of today, these players (and a few others, about 85 in total) that signed contract extensions or as free agents with new clubs in the summer are eligible to be traded
Baron Davis, Clippers; Monta Ellis, Warriors; Elton Brand, Sixers; Gilbert Arenas, Wizards; Tony Allen, Celtics; Emeka Okafor, Bobcats; Luol Deng, Bulls; Daniel Gibson, Cavaliers; Delonte West, Cavaliers; J.J. Barea, Mavericks; Antoine Wright, Mavericks; J.R. Smith, Nuggets; Kwame Brown, Pistons; Ronny Turiaf, Warriors; Ricky Davis, Clippers; Sasha Vujacic, Lakers; Tyronn Lue, Bucks; Ryan Gomes, Timberwolves; Craig Smith, Timberwolves; Sebastian Telfair, Timberwolves; Keyon Dooling, Nets; Jarvis Hayes, Nets; Devin Brown, Hornets; James Posey, Hornets; Chris Duhon, Knicks; Mickael Pietrus, Magic; Andre Iguodala, 76ers; Louis Williams, 76ers; Matt Barnes, Suns; Beno Udrih, Kings; Roger Mason, Spurs; Kurt Thomas, Spurs; Jose Calderon, Raptors.

From us: Apparently Shavlik is still not eligible (Dec. 15 or three months after signing deal, whichever is later)
Happy trade inclusion. I expect a small number of deals going down today, but not really a flood of deals.

I posted this in the weekend post late last night
I try and keep my trade posts in the correct place.
The Trade:
Portland gets Tony Parker, Thomas and Gadzuric. Portland buys out Thomas so he returns of S.A. before the playoffs.
San Antonio gets Redd, Blake and Thomas back in 30 days.
Milwaukee gets Webster and Massive cap help.
Why Portland does it. Gets someone great for RLEC.
Why S.A. does it. (I don’t think they would but…) They get a great player in Redd and some question if he really fits in S.A. I dug this up at the San Antonio blog.
http://www.poundingtherock.com/2008/12/3/678807/the-case-for-against-tony
Why Milwaukee does it. They get a young and cheap replacement for Redd and a ton of cap help. (Cheap owner.)
I found this from Marc Stein.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-081213-14
Marc Stein:
• I don’t get the impression that Milwaukee’s Michael Redd is being shopped. I do get the impression that the Bucks will happily listen to Redd proposals if the phone rings, with two years and more than $35 million left on our beloved lefty’s contract after this season and with Richard Jefferson arriving in Brewtown in June with a contract in the same ballpark. "I think they think they’re the same team at this point with [Redd] or without him," one rival-team official said of the Bucks.
KP has worked with both teams before. That’s got to be a plus.
I don’t think that S.A. would do this now. But they would end up with an A+ player and a pretty darn good replacement for Parker in Blake. Milwaukee is probably looking for more out of Redd, but if they just want to get rid of his salary, I don’t think they can find a better deal.
SA won't part with Parker
He’s the future of their franchise and has already won a Finals MVP. Redd + Blake < Tony Parker.
However, do I agree Parker would be the perfect addition for the Blazers.
I agree that they won't give up Parker
But I thought I’d try and come up with something. Now that SA is winning I don’t see a move. Milwaukee (I’m pretty sure) will be listening to Redd offers for cap room, and there is nothing better than RLEC. It’s starting to become clear who will (could) be looking for RLEC.

slight adjustment, i think it makes it a little more likely, but i don't know.

Memphis
This Darius thing with Memphis seems like it could be the groundwork for somthing brewing,,,,,,It makes no other sense.
I try to help with everything," Fernandez said. "If the coach says go rebound, I go rebound. I work for the team."
It actually makes quite a lot of sense
It’s a pretty clever strategy by his agent to get him signed to a non-guaranteed contract with the Grizzlies. They had roster space available, they are a player in the 2009 FA market with their own big cap space (along with ATL, OKC, and us) and thus it doesn’t hurt to potentially be able to reduce a competitor’s, and he can serve his suspension while they try him out in training and a game or two before still being able to waive him if it doesn’t work out. And if that alone doesn’t suffice, they can also say “well, we wouldn’t need Miles if we had Outlaw”…

The funny thing is ...
jscot’s trade proposal is – so far – better than any of the others post here.
Personally, I’m on the fence. Section 213 seems to have a well developed sense of humor. But I think I’ll miss timbo’s lovefest with Channing Frye.
hakkaa päälle !
I like both
Section213 had a really funny post that made me feel good about our upcoming matchup: http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2008/12/14/691983/23-59

I was going to try to trade three or four guys from here for Ben Q Rock. He’s a superstar and had his own blog so I’d have to throw in a few prolific posters to get the deal done.

I think our chemistry is too good right now
To trade ANYONE!
Without Timbo, some nights this site would become Sergio’s Edge. He’s always there to post a junk drawer when everyone else is slacking, and his energy amps up the team when we’re down/up.
I would also feel woe for any site that trades Timbo and then has to face him in a gameday thread later on. HE DOES NOT HOLD BACK WHEN REVENGE IS AT STAKE.

Repost from the junk drawer yesterday: Future of the Suns
Assuming Amare wants to get out of there to play for a competitive team when he becomes a free agent in either 2010 (ETO) or latest 2011, their "core" looks like this:
Dragic
Richardson (2011)/Barbosa
Tucker/Dudley
Amundson
Lopez
Bahahaha. Okay, they have cap space themselves beginning in 2010 when Shaq comes off the books, and their 2010 first round pick already lives in Oklahoma City (Kurt Thomas "trade"). Suddenly it doesn’t look that unlikely that they could be interested in trading Nash or Amare ahead of time. I’m not a big fan of trading for either, but they don’t seem as unattainable as I thought if you consider that sad future roster when those two leave Phoenix for nothing and Hill retires.
Viva la Rudylucion
People
don’t seem to recognize that Nash will want to be on a contender and Amare wants to be the man. I think Nash is more attainable then Amare. If their woes continue look for a blockbuster before the trading deadline.
He's Coming! Oden Slayer of Giants
Not saying it will be with
Portland but we can always hope :).
P.S. I’d much rather have Nash then Amare for mentoring purposes and also for chemistry purposes. Preventing the LBJ, Bosh, Nash combo in NY from blocking us for 3 to 4 years is another consideration. I’m actually hoping LeBron wins in Cleveland this year to A. Punk the Celtics, B. Punk the L*kers and C. Keep LeBron from signing in horrible fan land (other then Knickfan) AKA New York.
He's Coming! Oden Slayer of Giants
+ 1
I think Nash, if on the market, would be great for Portland. If he’s on the block, I’d love to try and get Grant Hill with him (shore up the 3 while Martell recovers) but I think Phoenix would ask for too much

Too bad, looks like Antoine Walker's technically expiring contract will be bought out today :-(
He was a centerpiece in my trade idea last week to get us both Wallace and Conley in one deal.
Viva la Rudylucion
lol @ the guy from SacTown Royalty
Get to know the college crop, as a couple of them will be holding up Kings uni’s come next summer. Drool over Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings. Spend hours pouring over stats. Revel in their prime time heroics at the NCAA tourney. Breathlessly await their official measurements from the pre-draft camp. Join me in tracking and creating tasty but useless mock drafts. Then watch as we get screwed at the ping pong ball draw. Rail when Kevin Pritchard (seemingly) hoses us again. And go nuts when Geoff Petrie drafts a player that was not even on our board.

Golden State must make a (minor) move
Ellis is supposed to come back this week. Then they would have 16 guys on the roster. So either they waive a rookie, or they make a little deal.
Viva la Rudylucion
Did they have a injured player waiver thang?
So that extra roster spot is caused by Monta’s injury and the exception they get to sign someone to fill that spot?
It’d just be whoever that guy is, right? Unless that is Morrow or somethin’?
HUH? WHAT’S THE ANSWER SMART GUY IF YOU’RE SO SMART HUH?!

And NYC.
As far as I know.
TNT is in Atlanta though, so sometimes it seems like the NBA is based out of there.

Ah
Did not know that. Knew they had a super close working relationship. Makes sense that they outsource that to TNT/Time Warner which is a true media company.

Thanks for the interest. Unforunately TZ has me locked into a long term StR contract (the Ron Artest jersey as a signing bonus was just too good to pass up at the time…).
Outside of the 3-4 times that we play scrimmage the Blazers, I root damn hard for you guys. I have already professed my man-crush on Brandon Roy (though I’m not sure that I want to go for a drive with him anymore), and I really, really want to see you guys knock a “premier” team on it’s arse come playoff time.
For the next couple of years, it will be easy for me to root for the Blazers. Hopefully, the Kings will improve quickly, we can begin to compete with you, and I can develop a healthy (yet respectful) hate for your squad.
Good luck – stay healthy!
