My Try at a Realistic Trade.
So this is my first and last trade post. This involves Portland and Phoenix.
Portland sends
RLEC ($12,722,500)
LMA ($4,631,400)
Phoenix sends:
Amar'e Stoudamire ($15,070,550) 3yrs
Now, before you jump to conclusions, I have to say that I absolutely adore LaMarcus. In fact, I would hate this trade for quite some time because I love his character. But, in order to get someone on a elite level you have to give something of worth up in return. I am looking at this as something that can realistically happen. We get rid of someone we love with great upside for someone that we all know can
#1. Get you a bucket anytime they will it
#2. Give you an inside rebounder, shot blocker, and defender
#3. Bring a level of toughness on the inside that we have been lacking.
#4. Bring playoff level experience.
Here are the stats as follows:
LMA: PTS: 16.8 REB: 6.7 AST: 1.5 SPG: 0.9 PER: 18.23 BPG: 1.2
Amar'e: PTS: 22.3 REB: 8.6 AST: 1.9 SPG: 1.2 PER: 22.49 BPG: 1.1
I know Amar'e has expressed his feelings about wanting to be the "Man" and we all know it's the BRoy show here, but, having someone who is willing to take a big portion of the scoring load will take a huge load off of our main Star, give us more national recognition, and help make our front court one of the most feared in the NBA. Just as an F.Y.I., I do feel guilty writing this, I don't want to see LaMarcus go, and I want him to develop into 10x's the player Stoud is, and I want him to do it here in Portland. I guess I just was bored of all the ridiculous trades going on here and I wanted to put out a realistic one.

Don't want Amare
As talented as he is, I think his attitude/act would drag the team down. Plus, he’s already expressed an interest in testing the market (I believe he has a player option coming up in the next couple years), so it could end up being a rental even if it happened. This is one of those ideas that is appealing on paper, but the reality of the situation could be drastically different.

Agreed
Phoenix would never do it. Also both our star 4 and 5 spot guys would both have had micro-fracture surgery and i know they both seem Good to go at the moment but that surgery is a player killer for the most part.

That's an old wives tale
Micrfracture has ended a few career’s but far more players have had positive outcomes than not (across all sports not jsut BBall). Age is more a factor than anything with careers being ended.
Roy would veto it
Don’t piss off Brandon!

my god
even with the new trade bin theres still 3 other posts of somebody’s idea of a “realistic trade.” c’mon now people.
The Blazers as a whole are far more like my wife than like me in the sense of their physicality on defense.

It's a problematic trade
It will cost more than LA and RLEC. Baggage: Amare’s knee; it’s good now but it has a lot of mileage after surgery. There’s a good chance he is at the peak right now. How long will he play at this level? More Baggage: Amare’s playoff choke. Getting suspended for the biggest game of his career and blaming everyone but himself.
With LA you know there are no injury problems. You know there is upside. You know he will toughen in 2 or 3 years. You know his character is not as fragile as Amare’s. You know Amare wants the bright lights big city.
Amare
isn’t very good without a PG who can set him up. He is good of the pick and role, but his face up game, while better this year, still isn’t All-Star material. That said, I would still do this trade if Phx offered it, I just don’t see them doing that.
It would be hard to say no
and it would get us into the playoofs and maybe past the first round. We are not a lock for the playoffs as presently constructed. It’s hard to see Phoenix trading to the team that will knock them out of the playoffs.
Amar'e
doesn’t play D. He is also a straight head case.
Oden/Pryz
LMA/Frye
WebFoot/Trout
Roy/Rudy
Blake/Bayless

there is no occasion
that you’d ever want LaMarcus over Amare, unless it’s for a game of horse, or you want to see a sure dunk turned into a blown lay-up. Amare is so much better than LMA it is not even funny. Thorwing in an expiring contract turns it from joke to insult.
M, period. Fresh, comma.
Dude, I don't argue with you one bit.
This outbreak of homeristic trade proposals has become a plague around here.
Homers usually have a tendency to overvalue guys who play for their favorite team, which is what many Blazer fanatics do when they put on those rose-colored glasses. It’s somewhat similar to a sleazy drunk stumbling around at some dive bar, while hitting up random broads who’re far from physically attractive by any stretch of the imagination. Of course, beer goggles distort some folks’ imagination in crazy ways.
While that might not be the best analogy, it’s a pretty apt comparison in my mind.
I was going to comment that Seattle fans ....
…. can’t be accused of being homers (and infact can barely be acused of being called fans),
but that would be a low blow.

Nah, it's fair game.
The Emerald City, however, does have more than its fair share of homers, although they’re mainly fans of the Seattle Mariners. For whatever reason, the M’s draw a colossal fan base of casual, know-nothing drones.
Let's trade for Kidd and Kenyon Martin
and start the All-Microfracture Team!

Unless Phoenix is seriously concerned that they are going to lose Stoudamire for nothing...
why would they do this? He is a legit MVP candidate. LMA is a borderline All Star player. That is the equivalent of us giving up Roy for an expiring contract and Rudy Gay or Kevin Martin. Those types of players would be nice pieces, but they are downgrade from the star.
you pretty much answered your own question
Unless Phoenix is seriously concerned that they are going to lose Stoudamire for nothing
they may be…
Yeah but...
Lamarcus is young and still developing, has big upside and fresh joints. Amare is probably as good as he ever will be, is a head case who has a terrible, selfish attitude that seems at odds with the high character nature of the team…hate him.
Somebody said it yesterday
Amare = NBA version of TO. Big time talent, big time headache. I think it would end badly here if he ever were to become a Blazer (as unlikely as that is)

Does it come
with a Steve Nash?
Also, do we need to take even more of a hit on our interior defense?
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
