On Roy's Scoring
Brandon Roy has scored at least 30 in the last 3 games, and we've lost all three. Granted in 2 of them we've lost due to circumstances outside of his control (blake missing FTs, ridiculous last second 3s and what have you). But come on, we lost to the Clippers!? Is this a coincidence or is it detrimental to our offense to run through him to this extent?
Personally, I haven't noticed him being any more reluctant to distribute, but we're having a much harder time getting the rest of the guys (outside of LMA) going on offense. This is kind of a chicken or the egg type question but i'm curious what you guys think.

Not necessarily
LaMarcus has been right there with him in FGA.
The problem right now is that the rest of this team cannot hit a high percentage FG the last three games to save their lives. Batum is bricking, Outlaw is bricking, and Rudy, too. The latter two are Portland’s third and fourth scoring option, so the pressure is on Roy and LMA to take on the scoring burden. Which they have, combining for 55 to 60pts together each of the last three games.
As soon as the rest of the team steps up offensively, then more plays will be run to the hotter hand. The last two games it has been Roy and LMA, and nobody even close.

To further my point...
The last three games, Outlaw and Rudy combined FGs:
10/39FG
Now, couple that with Blake and Batum’s FGs the last three games:
6/34FG
For a total of:
16/73FG
In summary, Blake, Batum, Outlaw, and Rudy are shooting a combined 22% the last three games. Portland goes 0-3. The rest of the team needs to step up.

This is so true
What is also true is the 50-55% FG percentages the Blazers are allowing for most of these games. They are trading baskets with other teams at best. Crappy shooting by Outlaw, Rudy, and Blake + giving up over 50% in field goals = big sucky sucky.

One way to improve FG %
is to drive to the basket more. Doing this would create either a basket , foul or an open jumper

Who do you want to do that?
Blake isn’t a driver, neither is Rudy, neither is Outlaw, neither is Batum. You can’t just magically turn them into that kind of player. Perhaps Martell will be that, perhaps not. Perhaps one of those guys can become that kind of player, but it won’t happen mid-season.
We either need to find a way to run offensive sets that get them the ball at the hoop, or find a way to get some easy baskets some other way, or get new players.
Personally, I expect eventually to be getting easy baskets through Greg. But unless we’ve got someone knocking down 3s, teams are going to collapse, and you won’t be able to get much through Greg OR be able to drive to the basket.
I agree with your statement, but the only players we have right now who are effective at that game are Brandon and Sergio. That’s it. And Sergio hasn’t historically been a threat to finish at the basket when he drives, so he’s only partially effective.

Brandon needs to score right now for Brandon.
Brandon being a dominating force is the #1 most important thing for the Blazers long term success.
2 things lead me to believe that Brandon’s extra shots are not hurting the team:
1. As Damir pointed out above, the rest of the team is still getting their looks. They are just missing them.
2. Brandon had 9 assists last night. Granted he had an egg the night before, but 38 + 9… Those are all star numbers, and are the type of numbers that I would almost guarantee Brandon is capable of getting in noght in and night out.
We are not talking about Kobe here… he was 10 for 20. its not like he is taking 20 perimeter jumpers, and hitting 40%. If any of our secondary scoring options hits a respectable number from the field, we would have won by 10 at the end of regulation.
I heart taxes.

I think I agree
but Brandon’s not scoring for Brandon. He’s doing it to try to win. It just so happens that when he has to score a lot, they’re unlikely to win. Everything but your bold sentence seemed right to me.

I don't think he meant it as an ego thing
I think he meant it as Brandon needs to score to establish himself, for the good of the team.

What is kind of scarey about his scoring
is that he is being constantly double teamed lately, and still putting up those points. Maybe he is having a hard time passing out of the double team and just puts up a shot, I don’t know. But, is it all a coincidence?

Roy played great vs Orl and Clips
Its not like he is not having assists along with his scoring. In jazz game nobody could get anything going on Offense except Roy
