Vote: Worst Loss So Far

You may not be able to win them all, but some losses definitely sting more than others. Here's our losses so far listed in order:

  1. Twenty (20!) point loss on national TV and GO gets hurt... oh, and it was to the freakin' L8kers in LA. Ugh.
  2. Eleven point loss in Phoenix... we crumbled down the stretch in a game we were relatively competitive in otherwise.
  3. Seven point loss in Utah... same story as the previous game. In it and withered late.
  4. Lost by five points in New Orleans the same way, folding late.
  5. Golden State beats us by five in their house. Again, we had opportunites to win late. The refs didn't help us any with this one.
  6. Phoenix, in AZ... different game, same plot. Lost by 10. This was the 4th game in 5 nights.
  7. Boston in Boston. National TV. Not competitive, not pretty. Lost by 15 but it wasn't even close. Might have actually been scary enough to induce nightmares.
  8. Orlando in the RG... lost 8 point lead with 120 seconds to play. Off balance, fadeaway three caroms in off the backboard with .3 on the clock and no timeouts. The same type of heartbreaker that we've put on two teams this year.
  9. At Utah, who was missing their main scorer, on national TV, lost by nine... wasn't even close.

Its Orlando, and its not close

You cannot lose home games in which you have a 5 point lead, and the ball, with less than 1 minute remaining. Can’t happen.

I understand where you're coming from...

but it’s easy to chalk that up as a fluke. The first two three’s were nice shots. But that game winner was a hail mary.

A devestating loss for sure.

You're right...

but after all that it still took a miracle for Orlando to win.

It was Magical

oh wow , i promise I wont say that again.

That shot was crazy and everyone there was literally stunned. I was shocked into silence… must of been something amazing to achieve that great feat!

ha!

I was dumbfounded myself.

My buddy was there with me, he’s from St. Louis, and he was like, “Dude, what just happened? I’ve never seen anything like that.”

He was still talking about it today.

Last night, definitely.

We just didn’t show up. At least in the Orlando game there were bright spots to look to, exciting and fun plays to watch, and a certain element of bad luck in the loss.

At Utah we just came out flat and got embarrassed by Mehmet Okur. Sure, Brandon had 33 points but ZERO assists? Sure, LaMarcus had 22 points, but no scoring in the third or fourth quarters? Rudy was missing, Blake was missing, Outlaw had no impact, Sergio had a bad assist-to-turnover ratio, even PRZYBILLA (Mr. Reliable) was off his game.

Ugh, I’m ready to beat the Clips by 30 points.

To eliminate dimes (not the assists kind of dimes). They are the most useless currency. SO, eveyone send me their dimes so I can dispose of them properly…

Yea that was ugly

I voted for boston, but that was probably because I only was able to catch the last quarter of last night’s game on television. It sounded horrible.

Boston was hard to watch

but less painful for me for some reason. Maybe it was that it seemed more like we got beat than we beat ourselves? We beat ourselves in Utah.

by joelor on Dec 12, 2008 4:33 PM PST up reply actions

Oh man Boston

While watching it I felt like they weren’t that much better than us, it was just they somehow were disrupting the entire game of basketball. It was weird, and I felt just ashamed that we were in that game, and buying into this horrible game of basketball. But since watching the Indiana and Wiz games, I guess that is just what happens when you play Boston.

Do we have to trade for another player so that never happens to us again?

Last night SUCKED.

BRoy had 0 assists… cuz no one could make a bucket to save thier lives. Same could be said for Sergio.

That second unit was horrendous.

Lakers set the tone

for the season; but home loss to Orlando was a gut punch. The BE was dead all day following.

by oregonslee on Dec 12, 2008 4:39 PM PST reply actions

The Lakers game.

That opening night against the Lakers was what I voted. We didn’t come to play. We were flat, and the Lakers came ready.

by CanadianBlazerfan on Dec 12, 2008 4:49 PM PST reply actions

Boston

I think Boston was our worst loss. We went in with a lot of confidence, but they handled us on both ends of the court. Orlando didn’t at all – we executed well against Orlando, but it didn’t look like we’d last long in a series against Boston.

by Thack on Dec 12, 2008 4:50 PM PST reply actions

Tough call...

But the L*kers and Boston are understandable. My vote was split between GS and Orlando till I remembered that the Warriors are nicknamed the Warriors and no team should lose to a team with a Middle School’s mascot…

Warriors loss was the tough pill to swallow, like a gigantic disgusting mulitvitamin.

I will say

all of them sucked. i can’t vote.

the most beautiful losses thus far this season were the last two, because of brandon; he has really looked amazing all season.

the new orleans and oakland games were beautiful in that we watched oden’s rehab on the court (hoping to see exponential progress!), which, depending on your viewpoint, helped the blazers compete, or helped them lose.

The phoenix games are bad dreams.

The Lickers and and the Baked Beans games were so cringeworthy—-my face hurts after those kinda games, also i become horse from barking and screaming at the TV.

Giving that game away like they did was really bad.

I was at the game tonight

And I think I gotta go with this one. I know the team is really tired. I know everyone has off nights. Oden played solid(didn’t get a foul until the fourth), brandon gets career high in scoring, and we lose. Not just to anyone. We lost AT HOME to a team that had what 4 wins so far this year? And not just any team. A team with, drum roll please…..Zach Freakin’ Randolph. I might have been able to stomach that if he played average, but he scored over 30!!!!!!!! The blazers got kicked in the teeth in double overtime by a garbage team. A team that any other team on any given night should beat. I know everyone knows this by now, but what I saw tonight was a team that almost didn’t seem to care. They were totally disconnected and lazy. We are getting killed the last three games on fast break points. Transition defense is lacking. Floor vision is narrow right now. I hope this three day rest gets them back on track, but I will say that I wasn’t nervous at the end of the game. I was nervous the whole game. It did not feel like they were hungry. And for a playoff team a game against a non-contender should be like throwing a side of beef to a pride of lions. Scary BAD!

by Tyler Durrden on Dec 12, 2008 11:55 PM PST up reply actions

We've now had precisely one bad loss

to the Clippers.

We’ve had two losses to bottom-feeders. One was a close game away to Golden State. You get those over the course of a season.

You never, ever, ever want to lose at home to the Clips.

In Wikipedia, under “Bad Loss”, there is a list of every game ever where a team with a winning record lost a home game to the Clippers. Well, I didn’t check Wikipedia, so I can’t be sure it is there, but it ought to be.
