Simmons and Stein talk Portland in podcast
Interesting conversations including Portland and...wait for it...wait for it.......trades. In the mix are RLEC, Amare, LeBron, Nike, LaMarcus, Outlaw, Blake, Oden and Coach Mac. Portland is mentioned several times early and througout the podcast but the main chunk starts at the 31:30 mark.
Simmons: ...unless he (LeBron) is the head of a superteam (Blazers w/ LeBron) which they could potentially be. If Oden comes through...that team is frightening. And they have a great coach. He's the best under-45 coach in my opinion.
Stein: He's the best. There's no question. He is super under-rated.
Enjoy.

It's an interesting talk between the two as usual
Though like Simmons admits in the introduction, parts of this podcast are already outdated since they recorded it before the trade between the Suns and Charlotte that changed a few options there.

LMA for Amare?
Hmmmm…….
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

talent-wise, that's a big win
but Amare’s been establishing himself as quite the primadonna headcase. Portland is overperforming in large part due to chemistry, and by swapping LA for Amare, you can probably kiss that goodbye. Plus for all the knocks that LA gets as being a soft defender, Amare is that classic example of a guy who has all the tools, but plays absolutely no D because he’d rather play offense. I’m not sure he’d put up with having Nate on his back for long, if he’s already chafing under Terry Porter like rumors say.

Amare as the only low post presence with free license from coach (i.e. Old Suns)
= one of the greatest players in the league
Amare sharing the post with another star and trying to play in a more regimented system (i.e. New Suns) = grumpy Gus getting fewer shots, shooting worse, and scoring fewer points…still great, but…
Which situation is closer to Portland’s?

Amare seems like a headache
Chroically late to practice, always complaining about touches, won’t work on D…I don’t think I’d do it, even though he is one of the top 5 PFs in the NBA. His attitude is a big part of Phoenix’s problems, imo

Amare = the NBA version of TO?
could be.

Good comparison, so talented there will always be coaches/GMs willing to think they can make it work (and it just might for a little while), but when the diva comes out, duck and cover.
