Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Certainly, most everybody expected Nic to be accumulating butt sores, not minutes... but this outlook by ESPN is still funny. I love how the writer sounds so sure of himself with such a colorful description of Batum's 08-09 future in Idaho.

National media

They are backing away from the prediction game about Portland anymore, you get the occasional doom and gloom artical, or commentary but most of the media are basically laying low after the over-hype of Greg and the under hype of the team in general.

The underhype was strange

It’s like in the offseason people forgot how good Brandon Roy was

I can't really blame the prediction

Since if Martell wasn’t hurt, who knows.

But yes, it’s hilarious in retrospect.

If Martell wasn't hurt

Batum would not have gotten a chance. It was a blessing in disguise……

Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game

to be fair

the local outlook, including here on BE, was the same before the season started, especially after his summer league peformance.

Nic has been a very very pleasant surprise, and his future is looking bright. I’d say at this point he will never suit up for a D League game.

Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
