Let's all do the Joel Przybilla dance

While I do like and prefer the newer "Vanilla Gorilla" nickname for the big No-Vowel, the "official" nick-name for Joel is "thje thrilla". For those old enough to remember when Uncle Cliffy had his little towel-waving dance, it makes it more fun to do a dance when a team member with a cool name does something fun.

So in that spirit, any time Przybilla does something exceptional...say, blocks Yao Ming, takes a charge from O'Neal, etc., I encourage all Blazer fans to do the "Thriller" dance. Little arms thrown in the air with the claw thing, maybe the right/left/right with leg-kicked routine for the most spectacular blocks. I am willing to bet it would catch on pretty quickly.

Joel is underrated

I consider Joel to be the MVPof the team. He is a stabilizing force in our lineup. can you picture Dampier or Curry contributing to the team like Joel has? even in a loss like Phoenix we saw him hustling for rebounds and frankly dominating on the boards. he is the definition of a selfless player and I thinkthat if he was called upon, he could put up even more impresive numbers. I think a lot of last years sucsess can be attributed to Joel’s contributions.

I have been dancing everytime Joel gets a rebound, a block or a dunk for a long time!!! I always wear my Przybilla jersey on game day and I have my own dance. I hope it will catch on! I used to go to the rose garden alot and the fans would not get behind the thrilla like when they would take him out of the game! I remember standing and cheering for Joel and Blazers fans were looking at me like I was crazy. I’m living in Kansas and I will be dancing for Joel in my living room watching the Blazers tonight!

We actually already started it...

in the Houston game. Originally, the wife wanted a Przybilla jersey for her b-day. Unnfortunately, they don’t have them in the store any more :-( But we will have one soon. But yeah, every statistical contribution Joel made saw us throw up the little Thrilla dance in section 309.

I still think the best nickname for Joel is “The Pryzzly Bear.” Or maybe it’s spelled Przyzzly. Whatever. But it’s hilarious, and conjures up wonderful conflicting images of ferocity and furry hugs.
