Outlaw is Gone!
I know you may not like this post. But, it's time for an honest assessment of TO.
OUTLAW HAS REACHED HIS CEILING WITH THIS CLUB.
Travis is impeding the development of the Blazer's future. His fate and departure are sealed.
Sometimes managements needs to make a decision and move forward.
A decision regarding the future of Travis Outlaw (TO) is needed NOW.
I love TO. But, this guy needs to be shipped out.
Kick him off the island, Pritchard.
Yes, last year Jack was removed.
For the 3 major baskets TO's hit in the 4th quarter the past 1.5 years, his multiple mistakes have shifted the balance the other direction.
I can't stand his cock-eyed-high-angle-71.45 degree shooting form that begins with his head facing vertically downward on the floor.
He's fundamentally both AWKWARD and OFF.
His turnovers are both timely and un-needed.
Further, Outlaw doesn't play TEAM basketball. I bet Rudy and Roy thinks he's a ball-hog. He throws up crazy looking shots every game.
He reminds me of the guy who sometimes gets really lucky at key moments, so you hang on to him. However, outside of those key moments, he's terrible. But, then all of a sudden, another key moment comes, and...... with Outlaw, it's BRICK.
A good fit for Outlaw would be with Steven Hill in OKC. It's closer to his hometown, and as we well know, PJ Carlesimo loves brick-shooters that follow the lead of Kevin Durant.
One guarantee: Outlaw will be gone before the All-Star Break.
Who can we get in return?

I read the other posts
but thought my perspective was very unique and had a few additional key insights… also, many voices are helpful in things like this
It's still breaking the rules

4. The diaries are fairly free-form but the rules apply there too. Also don’t duplicate a conversation already ongoing by starting a new diary.

you actually think this is a duplicate?
When I read the previous diaries, I thought each was voicing a different perspective on the matter (personally)… am i wrong?
I do
It is the fourth posts in the last 12 hours about Outlaw.

I can't
I love all the Blazers and most the fans. I want us all to get along.

if y'all want this deleted, i'll do it for the best of the TEAM
(i.e., if this was outlaw posting, he wouldn’t make this type of suggestion)
Why bother?
Maybe folks will read this one and not create another Outlaw post.

Of course, the problem may be
that hotstuff sees some of the other garbage that somebody thinks warrants a fanpost, so thinks his personal perspective deserves more attention than a random post in somebody elses topic.
Then, the next guy down the line sees 8 consecutive topics suggesting we trade Outlaw, and figures his incoherent yammering is worthy of a fanpost as well.
And I think that’s where we’re at, folks.
No sir
My point is that if you see somebody else create a fanpost that is incoherent yammering, then this one seems quite legitimate by contrast.
By nature, creating a fanpost is more reinforcing than posting in somebody elses topic. As a reply in an existing fanpost, you can put work into a statement but not be assured that people will respond to it, or even read it if the topic is a little burned out. But creating a fanpost pretty much guarantees at least a few responses even if the topic has already been rehashed repeatedly, providing the the author the warm and fuzzies that justify the effort.
Sometimes I get militant.

If everyone posted because they
“thought my perspective was very unique and had a few additional key insights”
then there would be no reply’s to anyones fanposts. The topic is the issue, not the perspective, views or insights being unique, those can easily be shared in the same fanpost.
That being said, I like what you had to say.
What's wrong with writing a post trying to persuade management to trade a player?
Why make so many rules on writing??
to keep duplicate posts to a minimum
because this is for fans and fan conversation and NOT for management
because those rules help generate debate and conversation instead of rolling the eyes.
because a lot of us are sick and tired of the same commentary
because your commentary becomes lost in the saturation of the other commentaries.
I didn’t read your post. The essence is that travis needs to go. You could be write, but seeing that for the third time and after the debates that take plays and conversations in the other threads, odds are you aren’t going to add much more perspective. To be honest I barely skimmed the post and wouldn’t have even done that if your title hadn’t led me to believe that Travis had been traded. I don’t read duplicate posts.
We haven't done anything yet... but don't blink.
No.
If I had a dollar for every trade Travis post I have seen, I’d have my dream home paid for twice over. I’ve seen lots of posts on trade Travis. No this subject doesn’t need another post. Overkill, and a regular since my early Blazers Edge days. Keep Travis. Trade Travis.

So you guarantee he's gone by All-Star break? What do we get if he's still here?
"People? You man Sheeple."
I'll take a sixer

Man, this is a rant. Seriously, I understand you're upset.
Outlaw is only one problem. The biggest reason we’re losing is because we’re playing people better than us. With or without Outlaw, they’re better than us.
Lebron could change that, as could Kobe, or Howard or……… Oden.
Give us a little time. We’re still ahead of last year’s pace.

I don't fully agree...
if we played smarter, we would have better chances… Outlaw is a major reason for our lack of court-sense.
Now that I disagree with
Outlaw is lacking, I don’t disagree there. The game I saw last night, however… WOW… the entire team is out of sync and out of place. That wasn’t just travis mucking it up.
We haven't done anything yet... but don't blink.
There were spurts when they played smart and together
or maybe that was just someone crashing the boards and getting a second chance. I can’t tell the difference.

You can't be perfect, so that statement's by default true
That doesn’t mean Outlaw was to blame for our sloppyness. Mostly, the Jazz and Sloan were to blame. They make teams sloppy. We just weren’t good (smarts are included in good) enough as a team to beat them.
Super Outlaw wouldn’t have won us that game. We needed toughness mostly. Intelligence is nice, but toughness beats people up. The jazz need a beating. When do they play the Rockets?

Oh oh oh...me me me me me
Then let’s do a 4 way trade. We get LeBron, Kobe and Howard. In return, OKC receives Outlaw.
It works in the trade machine and I think it benefits all parties involved.
superfluous

For that to work, we'd likely have to give up RLEC
and I’m not sure we’d be getting adequate return value
Value be damned, it's time to pull the trigger. If we can only get Kobe, Lebron and Howard
let’s do it. Even if you have to miss out on Wade and CP3

You are a bit over the top
I also believe Outlaw will be traded this year because of the play of Batum, however he has been a big time player for this team and should not be throw away at the first sign of trouble. My guess is he will stay until almost the deadline, then be move to get Web and Batum more time on the court.
Until then I hope Nate can see the difference, that the media and fans are seeing right now, in how this team plays when Batum or Outlaw is on the court. When Batum is on the court, team rebounding is better, defense is better, and activity is better. When Outlaw is on the court, defense is worse, and the offensive is choppy, and the team rebounding is worse. Here is a quote from Mike Barrett’s blog,
“Nicolas Batum got the start at the small-forward spot and was very effective. He was a big reason why Portland was able to hang tough in the first quarter, and take a lead to the locker room at halftime. He ended with 5 points and 6 rebounds, but that doesn’t begin to tell the story about his game. In the second half, McMillan chose to go with experience over youth, and Batum didn’t see much action, other than starting the half.”
Nate needs to just give in and go with it. Stop making the same mistake he made in the opener at LA, Batum is better for this team than Outlaw is. I am not saying bench Outlaw, but stop putting him into the game when you need clutch play, and give Batum a shot. Everytime he has been given the opportunity he has come through with flying colors. I know Nate want’s to protect Batum and not put him in situations to fail, but sometimes failure is needed for growth, let Batum learn from any failures he might have instead of babying him like his mother.
Agree - 100%
Nate needs to go more with instinct than tradition in his rotations.
Play Batum.
Play Rudy.
his instinct
his instinct will tell him to play with the more experience player…his priorities are
experience trumps inexperience…then after that defense trumps offense.
jack and sergio had similar experience so….it went to defense after that first point was moot.
travis will get the nod cuz of his experience. if we were to trade him its going to be a long year as he will probably get showcased all year like jack was last year. waiting so long will become a detriment to other players growth.

This seems a silly reactionary post to me
Because Outlaw isn’t losing these games. The team is. And it’s four games into the season. A lot of folks on this sight seem to need a constant scape goat or player to vent on. Jack, Miles, and now Outlaw.
Travis is not a great defender and may never be. If he’s content on the second unit doing his athletic best than he fits in nicely and shouldn’t be worth much thought.
In my humble opinion of course.
Not completely..
we knew this last year too, but didn’t focus as much on it…
I’m not sure if TO can remain on the 2nd unit and work with others…
HAHA PJ!!!
I do not miss him.

oh yeah
You are RIGHT, it’s time for an honest assessment of TO. We are now 4 (FOUR!) games into the season and he’s only helped the team win ONE game. CLEARLY he has reached his CEILING. How could a player possibly need more than FOUR games to show how his season is going to play out? Put a FORK in him already.
While we’re at it, B-Roy has obviously reached his PEAK and is on the DOWNWARD SLIDE of his career. He is not NEARLY THE PLAYER he was last year. TRADE HIM NOW while we can still find some sucker to take him off our hands at a high price.

We should get Paul's money back from Phoenix - Rudy's a bust too; I was expecting so much more.

Yes. I`ve heard he`s bust and eats babies, but the worst thing is he is injury prone too.
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16
