Junk Drawer 11/05/08- The morning after
The day after….
There are always going to be disappointed people after an election happens. I hope that we can understand as a group that certain folks did not get what they wanted last night... whether it was the presidental election or local election.
And out of a lot people on this site (besides TiH) I am one person who has not really expressed my views, nor will I on this blog. I hate discussing politics on a sports site, so I am posting this in a junk drawer for the following reasons.
I hope we can all just get along as a country after all the crap that has been going on and that the personal jabs on this site will stop, at least for a little while. Is that too much to ask? Probably. I’m sure that the political discussions will never actually stop, because I’m sure someone in office will do something to make people mad and it will begin all over again. So before this happens, let’s all try to be friends :)
On a more basketball related note, anyone watch that Boston/Houston game in between taking breaks from the election? Well I did, and I am growing increasingly irritated with the Celtics. I already completely disliked them, yet my hatred just keeps getting bigger! I don’t think anything in particular happened other than their winning that irritated me. I just can’t stand watching them play. I can’t stand any of their "Big 3". I actually enjoyed watching them struggle a bit last night against Houston throughout most of the game (there was a ton of lead changes in that game). So I decided to peruse the Celtic’s blog on SBN. Man, since they merged with the other blog, their site is hoppin! They actually have fanposts from the last couple of days with (get this) COMMENTS! Wow...
Link: http://www.celticsblog.com/
As the Indiana Pacers ambassador, I am struggling a little bit with gathering any news. We all know by now they had quite a win against Boston the other night. Danny Granger signed an extension (details unknown). Our good friend Jarrett Jack has been putting up similar numbers as a Pacer as he did as a Blazer.
Miss those eyebrows? I know I do.

I never have anything to report on my team as well
You really don’t have to worry until we play them.
I’d rec your junk drawer but there are already two in the top 5.

Thanks Tom, always looking out
How do you not have anything to report from Blog a Bull?
Even if there is nothing going on with the team, we would love to hear reports of the bloggers over there :)
When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

I already went off topic a few times and cussed. I’m still feeling them out like teens at a drive in movie.

Reading the site, you get the impression most of them really hate their team
That blog has more trade suggestions than I could ever come up with while sitting in a room with Bill Simmons handling the trade machine. And we would have a lot of trade ideas. Was it not for lucking into Derrick Rose, they would be completely depressed right now and might want to swap teams (and coaches) with the Bucks.

Yeah
I love the venting posts after a loss. They’re good for at least 300 comments.
Here is another trade proposal from there involving the Blazers.

I just counted. I have 25 fanposts displayed in my settings. 13 of them involve trade suggestions for everybody from AI to Zach to Brad Miller and the Blazers.

The venting posts are a good after-game idea
Keeps the number of additional “player x blows and needs to be traded asap” posts down.
by Norsktroll on Nov 5, 2008 7:35 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
That is a good idea
But I think it would be difficult since we can’t cuss. There would be a lot of symbols in the #%!#&*$# post.
When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

since this is the junk drawer
let me say that first, i understand why people had such hatred for Bush. I didn’t hate him, I agreed with a lot of what he tried to do, but he is a plain and simple screw up. That being said, I am feeling deeply sorrowful today. I wasn’t a big J Mac supporter, but more so voting against Obama. I am really sad that this man, who nobody really knows, won an election off of the buzzwords “Change” and “Hope”. I’m even more sad that he has taken on this messianic role in the world, and it really, really, really creeps me out. So yeah, I guess as Twiggs said, congrats to those of you who got what you wanted last night. I “hope” you get the “change” you were looking for, because I certainly know that I didn’t.

I think
That both McCain and Obama want what’s best for this country (although I’m not sure how Palin fits into that), they just have different view points on how to get there. Bush seemed to be much more about his way. I do believe both McCain and Obama would have looked outside themselves to find a more unified way instead of dividing. Time will tell, of course, but I’d say I’ve been pretty darn correct about who the best better president would be for over 16 years now. I believe history can back me up on that. McCain should never have touched Palin.

I think McCain's choice of running mate
Turned off a lot of people and made them question his decision-making skills. Palin was a very polarizing figure and was (in a lot of respects) not ready for the national limelight.
by DonkeyShins on Nov 5, 2008 10:32 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
I did like Obama, but would have likely picked McCain over Hillary. His choice of Palin, once I dug around, completely turned me off from him and nailed me down in Obama’s corner (though I admit I was mostly there already).

Fortunately its more than buzz words
and we will all benefit from having someone articulate and intelligent to represent us on the world stage.
we didn’t elect a dictator who just gets to do whatever their gut tells them to — policy will form out of pragmatism

running against 14 democrats and then the republican party, I’m sure if there was something more to know, we’d know it…
and besides, look what we “knew” about Bush – and chose to overlook – how were we served by knowing him better?

The problem is a vast majority of trade ideas have been talked to death over the past few years. Our team does need minor tweaking, but I think a lot of us just want to see what we have and run with it for a while before we go a looking. conley hasn’t proven himself and I’d guess his value has gone down over the year, not up. Outlaw has his flaws, but is proven. Add to that, that we have Bayless to develop and Sergio, why add another project?

Very Clever
Although as far as I know there are only 31 teams in the NBA.
There used to be 32 but some redneck stole a team and took it to the plains where he is holding it for ransom. The NBA will never be the same

Quote for Sophia from Old Baldface:
McMillan planned to start Batum in the season opener but changed his mind the morning of the game against the Lakers. The Blazers coach got jittery, and nervous, and decided to go with veteran small forward Travis Outlaw, who is terrific as a sixth man and hadn’t practiced enough with the starting unit.
It was a mistake.
McMillan knows it. Batum knows it. The rest of the Blazers know it. You know it. I know it. Your dog knows it. And today, it gets corrected when Batum gets his first start at small forward…

my coworker said it was sad too.
I don’t get it. Will the cat die because of that? It looked healthy aside from the whole having two faces thing. Will it be ostrocized? It’s not like it had to go to junior high or anything.
I wonder if both faces have throats that lead to one stomach so it could eat twice as much. If one mouth is eating, could the other meow? Hmm…I kinda wish I had two faces now. But only because I don’t have to go to junior high.
