Junk Drawer | 11/30 Sunday Mornin' Edition
Nets beat the Jazz by 17 last night. Harris once again had 30+, and New Jersey forced a bunch of turnovers. Glad to see a division rival go down, I suppose.
This Nets team is strangely competent. They start Yi Jianlian at PF and Brook Lopez at Center, and they're above .500. What are their chances of playoffs? Probably pretty solid, if they manage to keep this up. Vince Carter has actually shown some stellar play, just when I thought he'd go the way of Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury, who seemed like stars of a similar vane vein.
Summary: This post was actually a trolling trade post. Feel free to react as you normally would.

Sunday Morning
Sunday morning, praise the dawning
Its just a restless feeling by my side
Early dawning, sunday morning
Its just the wasted years so close behind
Watch out, the worlds behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all
Sunday morning and Im falling
Ive got a feeling I dont want to know
Early dawning, sunday morning
Its all the streets you crossed, not so long ago
Watch out, the worlds behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all
Watch out, the worlds behind you

Wow. I just read this headline and thought "I love that song, I wonder if it was a reference to it"
And boom, the lyrics are in the first post.
I wonder if you and I are the only ones on this blog to have that album or know the song.
Now I’ll have to play it later. I blame you.

I remembered the song when I saw the headline
I didn’t expect any reference but felt like posting the lyrics.
Probably 2 or 3 more people here know the song.
After all, velvet is still pretty underground ( saw what I did).

When it went up I briefly thought about making a comment in it but that would be just feeding the trolls (and I know trolls)
I just flagged it.
Ben came up with an interesting suggestion about acquiring Marbury if that brings us Lee recently. One might still think that would be a bad trade, but there is a big difference between that and a post that is just made to provoke reactions.

It's not that big of a deal, eh.
An unfortunate part of professional sports is relocation, so we’ve all just got to accept it.
Besides, there’s absolutely no reason for me to wallow in self-pity over something that, for all intents and purposes, is enitrely out of my hands. Hell, I’ve just got to deal with it.
Thus, ‘til the day in which there’s another NBA team in the Puget Sound region, I’ll feed my everlasting addiction to the NBA by riding on the Portland Trail Blazers bandwagon.

your right though, relocation sucks but is part of the nba business.

Once the Professional Basketball Club, LLC purchased the ...
Seattle SuperSonics, it was nearly inevitable that relocation was on the horizon.
During the summer of 2007, here were some of my comments on that issue.
“Regarding the Seattle Supersonics remaining obligations to the Key Arena lease through 2010, I bet that the City of Seattle hastily agrees to a buyout with The Professional Basketball Club, LLC.”
http://sonicscentral.com/blog/?p=1357
"There are two options here.
1. The Washington State Legislature completely funds the building of a $500,000,000 state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility (i.e., the King County Events Center) somewhere in the Puget Sound, which would thereby allow The Professional Basketball Club, LLC to flip the Seattle Supersonics for a huge profit to a local buyer (e.g., Steve Ballmer).
2. The Professional Basketball Club, LLC relocates the Seattle Supersonics to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; consequently, Clayton Bennett becomes a renowned civic leader — as well as somewhat of a philanthropist — within his hometown community."

Yeah, that's a solid assessment.
In real life, though, I’m usually a pretty calm, laid back guy.
Yet, on the Internet, I oftentimes display a more obnoxious persona. I guess that’s due to the pseudo-anonymity factor.
I find it much tougher for me to be a jerk in person than over a computer screen. It’s probably that way for most folks, however.

Cool factoid:
Greg Oden has never lost a home game
Then in Ohio State, the team only lost 4 games:
@ North Carolina
@ Florida
@ Wisconsin
vs Florida in the championship game
Then so far this year we are 7-0 at home and in real games he has not lost. The only hitch is that he has lost 2 pre-season games at home vs GS and Ut.
But basically what I am saying is that we should go on to win all 41 games at home this year.
I can live with that.

That is amazing
Although to be fair, even if the UNC game had been played in Columbus and the result been the same, Oden hadn’t returned from his wrist surgery yet so you would still be able to make the claim that he has yet to lose a home game.

I’ve read a lot about how everyone compares players to other players of the same skin tone. So when I thought “Hey, Batum plays like Pippen and Prince,” I suspected I might just be doing that based on race.
However, even after thinking through it and trying NOT to think about skin tone, I couldn’t come up with a more reasonable comparison. So I couldn’t convince myself that Pippen and Prince weren’t the best comparisons to be making.

700 total yards of total offense, OUCH
Too bad the Rodgers brothers (family kind, not the slang) got injured or that would have been a 65-63 classic.

Most random dream last night. This is not a joke
During half time of a Laker game I was at KP comes on and announces a trade: LMA and Oden for an invisible point guard. We were all like, “wtf?” and then when LMA and Oden came out of the lockerroom KP was like “sorry you have been traded for that guy so go home” and then they look around for the new PG and cant see him, because he’s invisible. I woke up thinking , how is this gonna work? Hope KP knows waht he’s doing!
Weirdest dream ever no doubt a direct indicatiion that I have trade post anxiety and have a secret want for a point guard.

Lol, that was great clairvoyance
It might be your subconsciousness playing tricks because you don’t know who KP targets so he is still invisible, but you think there will be a trade coming.

i think that is right on the money, i do have a little trade anxiety

Memphis Commercial Appeal beat writer confirms that there have been talks about Conley, but no deal imminent
http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/nov/30/griz-blazers-talking/
The proposed deal began as a player-for-player swap involving Conley and Outlaw. At one point, Memphis was willing to include Hakim Warrick and asked for point guard Steve Blake. The Blazers countered with guard Sergio Rodriguez, who the Griz deemed a poor fit with their plans.
A team source said the Griz don’t have anything brewing on any front. The source predicted that the roster would remain the same for a while, and didn’t anticipate any substantive talks before Feb. 1.

In case the wrong link comes up for anyone else
I assume you were talking about the NBA’s top ten plays of the month. Instead, your link took me to Brandon’s postgame comments today (I assume it’s just how NBA codes their site).
For those curious, it’s in the list on the lower right. Portland got two of the top plays of Nov. Go ahead, guess what they are before you go look.

They got this right. The Nets Raptors game was just as good if not better than our game vs the Rockets.

Yeah I think they flipped a coin for #1 and 2.
Or else they said “give it to the east coast team, more people watch them”
One or the other. They were both outstanding plays.
