Class
This subject has come to my attention because I have recently been viewing the other teams blogs after our games to hear from their point of view. It is very enjoyable, (especially since we are winning), but I have noticed something that has been sticking out like a sore thumb. Now I am not going to name any names, but it seems like a common theme that we have a couple people from our site that go over there and talk smack. I think it shows a complete lack of class on our part and really puts other fans off. How often do you see fans from other teams come on to our blog and talk smack after a we recieve a thourough whipping? How would we all feel about that? Questions to consider, and I hope whoever is doing it will stop. Go Blazers

Funny thing is...
probably 80% of the posters on that site are regulars here!
I don’t know how people have so much time to go and comment at every single site before, during, and after each game.

appropriate for hoops chatter?
I served as a PTB ambassador for the Rocket’s Dream Shake opener and didnt see any of our fans talking trash. I think that sort of banter is playful at best, but its also easy to step over the line and act like a chump. Good reminder I spose, but Im not bothered by smack from non-Bedgers either. Its all in good fun.

I agree entirely
I was over at the New Orleans site today. Now there wasn’t exactly smack talk over there, but the exchange I saw didn’t really reflect well on Portland Blazer’s Edge fans.
I’d rather just read game analysis and discussions than discussions of what is and isn’t appropriate to post.

The tensions start with “What is wrong with Blazers fans?” Although maybe it wasn’t as harsh as I remember, now that I take another look.
I think BE is so active, and other blogs so much less active, that when BEdgers go over there to party it’s like if I-5 emptied from California straight into your driveway. A little overwhelming.

Kaboo
I think that’s what it is. I don’t blame you guys for your excited beyond belief. It’s just that, other fan bases aren’t always that way.Blog A Bull is mean crusty old blog with people who curse for the friggin hell of it yanno? I mean seriously; I believe that. And I love Blog A Bull. But every fanbase is different; I enjoy this place I really do. But this is the only place where 5 recommended fanposts can disappear after a day. Among other things.
I stress this again: Most of what has been said, and I suspect will be said, is not a problem. Gives us a chance to hash out the differences. Maybe we agree; maybe we don’t. But in the end, there has to be some respect from each side. Some people take it too far. I think Warrior fans are the worst around here because of how active GSoM is, and the fact the Dubs were so popular circa 2007. Hopefully that goes away (along with the Monta is better than Kevin Martin posts).

K-Mart (ok, you probably hate that nickname for him) is definitely a better pure scorer
Roy is a better distributor/scorer. Roy seems to have great intangibles, is good sized (no problems going into the lane and on defense)… but I don’t watch Kevin enough to know how he does in those categories. So it’s hard to say.

My recommendations
1. If as a Blazer fan, you see another “Blazer fan” or acting inappropriately/disrespectfully on another team’s site, put in a comment saying they aren’t representative of Blazer fans and we don’t approve of it.
2. If you see that another Blazer fan has made such a comment, make another one backing them up AND rec their comment. It is a good thing if we police “our own” (even if they are only just pretending to be one of ours), and it is a better thing if the policing turns green at the hands of Blazer fans. That will send a message of what true Blazer fans think. Give the police comment 30 recs or whatever, with every single one saying, “Blazer fan, rec”. If necessary, the BEdge ambassador can post something over here so we know recs are needed.

hears another example
this is frum saktown royalty. its there welcome thread. blazer fans are mentioned three specifik times, and right from the verry start. its no accident, weve earned this.
Shortly before/during/after the Portland games, we were inundated by new members. It was sort of like somebody building a sub-division on that big patch of farmland that had always been behind your housing development. Traffic increased, it got a little louder, some of us greeted our new neighbors while others longed for the good old days.
Visitors From Out Of Town When folks from other websites drop in to offer their opinion, do your best to keep an open mind. They can often bring a fresh perspective, and they are usually here only when their team is involved, unless they also truly have an interest in the KIngs. Again, give them the benefit of the doubt at first while they get used to the new surroundings. That being said, it is our neighborhood and no one is saying that we have to put up with people that have no respect for our community. Helpful hint – Remember, some of these people actually think that Channing Frye has game. Show them some pity.
The Occasional Monster Game Thread This may only occur during Blazers games for awhile, but once a game thread approaches the 500 mark, it begins to bog down (remember the draft threads?). When this occurs, TZ and/or I will do our best to get another thread open, at which time we will post in the original thread that a new thread is open. Helpful hint – Either move to the new thread or stop posting every time the Kings commit a turnover/give up a 3-pointer.
http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2008/11/29/675285/the-welcome-wagon
i only posted bullet points that specifikly addressed blazer fans by name, but any contchienshes person can see were refered tu a few more times.
i like this community becouse its a community, and not a rest stop. they might want tu enjoy the same. so even thow we might (sometimes) like channings game, we should refrain from “informing” them about how hes better then (insert kings player). i kan decorate my house how i want tu, but ill be damned if ill have any guest just come in and tell me how its going tu be. we are guests there, period. no real reason tu be inflamatory, even if we think theyve started it somehow

I’m concerned people will troll us when we lose, simply because one or two of our people have done the same to them. Trolling ruins game threads so fast.

Gee
to each his own (I normally say). But isn’t there more important things to ponder than this?…this site is healthy and about basketball….some garbage just gets dragged along…throw it out and move on….don’t make it an agenda….
when I was a kid …
Mom and Dad set the rules and I followed…..So I respected them, because they deserved it and also commanded it…..( didn’t always like it, but sometimes I thought about being hungry at dinner time)
The rules are set in here and for the most part work quite well…Lets give this site the respect it deserves and quit sweating the small chit…a healthy site like this will take care of itself by surviving on it’s own merit……quality people will sub-plant the so-called misfits, and therefore relegate them in-effective….
Do we really need the police and detective input?….if I classify contributing to this site as time well wasted, then Id’ like it to be about basketball…..If sidebars result from this, then they will only go as far as people wish to take them…..
