Why the Blazers will win the NW
Despite all the trade talk etc. i think we should be discussing more important stuff like.............
Why the Blazers will win the NW
* We have possibly the deepest team in the NBA (although the L*kers will argue that)
* We arent relying on 2 or 3 guys playing heavy minutes, apart from broy everyone plays about 30 mins or less, meaning if we have injuries it is easier to cover, and our main rotation guys dont get too tired at the backend of the season
* Our +/- is significantly better despite playing a huge number of road games against quality opposition, last year we ended with -3 points per game or something like that. At the moment we are +5, which normally you could translate into a 50 win season
* We have positive assist to TO, rebounding, blocks, steals, practically every major category except FT%.
This is posted at midnight, please feel free to add some points that i have missed, but i really think we can win the NW this season, team chemistry and balance is looking great so far

It will be a real battle to take down Utah
but I agree that the potential is there to do some wonderful things this season.

Yep
Even if we do win 55, there’s no assurance that will surpass Utah. They might win close to 60. This is their last year to win the NW, and I don’t think they’ll go quietly into the night. With D-Will out, they kept winning. I’m not sure we’d have done the same without Brandon….
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

It will be interesting. At the moment, the difference between Utah, Denver, and Portland is pretty small...

What difference? ;-)
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

It Utah reaches full strength, they may pull in front again
They’re really underachieving so far this season.

The Jazz are where they are with DWill playing about 3 games
I can’t see us beating them out.

The Jazz have played the easiest schedule in the league thus far...

Check out the"SOS" metric. The Jazz have had the lowest in the league.
Their record without DWill is impressive, but it should be pointed outhow fortunate they’ve been that his injury corresponded with such an easy part of their schedule…

To contrast,
the Blazers have played the sixth-toughest schedule so far. Hmm.
Jerryd Bayless has two emotions: Kill and Win.

The Oden factor
His maturation over the course of this year will determine if this is possible.
The sleeping giant that he has become in the eyes of the rest of the NBA is a very good thing for all of us in Blazer land. It has taken all the pressure completely off of him. This will reap huge bennies in the future. This year? More likely to arrive next year.
OT: Batum deserves even more minutes. Will we have 3 rookies in the rookie/soph game come All Star week end? Yes, yes and yes.
OT 2: Will the rookies win this year with Oden, Rudy and Batum? Could happen.

im thinking if we can stay within 5 games of utah/denver
at the all star break, we can really push in the 2nd half, as most of our guys are not logginh huge minutes, plus our schedule eases up a bit then, so we can try and have a winning streak somewhere there too

FYI: At the moment it looks as if the NJ Nets are being very helpful by beating the Jaws for us.
Stay tuned
